4章　サウル家の滅亡

1．サウル家の滅亡

昨日もお話したことですが、ダビデは、事の重要な局面で、何が正しいかということ、つまり、神のみこころを最優先しました。血で血を洗う抗争を起こしてまでも、自分がトップに躍り出ることは望まなかったのです。彼は、サウルの死も、将軍アブネルの死も、またサウルの子イシュ・ボシェテの死も望まなかったと言えます。

ところがアブネルの死は、イスラエルに大きな打撃を与え、事態を急速に転換させていきました。これによって、ふたりの略奪隊の長バアナとレカブが、イシュ・ボシェテを裏切り、殺して、その首をダビデに届けるのです。イスラエルはダビデ側に大きく傾いていきました。

ところで彼らは、自分たちの裏切りで、ダビデが喜び、自分たちを抜擢してくれると期待したようでしたが、そうはいきませんでした。ダビデは、自分たちの栄誉のために手段を選ばない裏切り者を受け入れなかったのです。

実際ダビデ自身、これまで自らサウルに報復しようとせず、また部下にもそれを許しませんでした。というのも、ダビデはサウルをもはや敵としては見ていませんでした。長年のサウルとの戦いの中で、彼はサウルもまた神に愛された人であり、神に立てられた人であることを認めていました。彼の心の中には、様々な戦いがあったことは確かでしょう。しかしダビデの主にある信仰は、すべてが、神の平和的な進め方で進められることで、殺人などもっての外であったのです。ダビデは公正な勝利を求めていました。

2．ダビデの王位の確立

ダビデはイシュ・ボシェテが正しい人であったことを認めています。確かに、彼はサウルの息子というだけのことであって、彼はサウルの罪に加担していたわけではありません。彼は神に敵対して生きていたわけでもありません。また、死に値することもしてはいなかったのです。実に、機を狙う者たちが、悲しい結末を引き起こしていくことがあります。そのような者たちの蛮行に振り回されない注意深い心を持つことが大切なのでしょう。バアナとレカブのように、損得を考えて、機を狙う人間の愚かさが、宗教の名のもとに戦争を引き起こしたり、組織の中に様々な争いや悲劇を引き起こしたりするのです。

中世の十字軍の蛮行の故に、キリスト教を信じられないという人もいます。しかし、問題はキリスト教ではありません。信仰が悪いのではありません。信仰が戦争を引き起こしているわけではないのです。信仰を究極の権威として利用する人間の罪の問題です。機を狙って神を利用し、宗教を利用する罪人の問題があるのです。そして人間が罪人である以上、そのような愚かさは避けられません。またそれによって物事が動いていくこともあります。けれども、どのように物事を進めるかは、重要なことであり、キリスト者であればキリスト者らしい物事の進め方があるのです。

彼らはベニヤミンの者でした。つまり非イスラエル人がイシュ・ボシェテを殺したのではありません。ここにも、神の民にありながら、神の民としての価値観を学んでいなかった人々がいたわけです。ともあれ、世の中では当たり前とする考え方も、キリスト者であれば距離を置くということがあります。キリスト者だったら、そういうことをしないということがあるものでしょう。神の愛を知り、神の義を知り、神の聖さを知り生きるという人であれば、そういうことはしないのだ、というものがあるはずです。信仰を持つというのは、ご利益目的ではないからです。信仰は、私たちの生き方の問題、私たちの生活を変えていくものです。信仰によって私たちの品性が変わるのでなければ、一体そのような信仰に何の意味があるのか、といのがキリスト教信仰です。信仰によって生き方の姿勢が変わり、何よりも神の愛に生きる人間に変えられていくことがない限り、私たちの生活の場に心震わせるような奇跡は起こりえないでしょう。私たちが神を信じることは、自分自身が変わることであるし、さらには家族、共同体、そして社会が変わることなのです。今日も真に変えられた心をもって、歩ませていただくこととしましょう。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

In fact, David himself has never tried to retaliate against Saul himself, nor has he allowed his men to do so. For David no longer saw Saul as an enemy. In his many years of fighting Saul, he admitted that Saul was also a God-loved man and a man who was erected by God. Certainly there were various battles in his mind. But David’s main faith was out of murder, all by being carried out in the peaceful way of God. David wanted a fair victory.

2. Establishing the throne of David

David admits that Ish-bosheth was the right person. Sure, he was just the son of Saul, and he wasn’t part of Saul’s sin. He did not live against God. He also didn’t deserve him to die. Indeed, those who aim for the opportunity can have sad consequences. It is important to have a careful heart that is not swayed by the barbarism of such people. Like Baana and Lekab, the foolishness of human beings who think for profit and loss and aim for opportunities can cause war in the name of religion, and cause various conflicts and tragedy in the organization.

Some people cannot believe in Christianity because of the barbarism of the Crusades in the Middle Ages. But the problem is not Christianity. Faith is not bad. Faith is not causing war. It is a matter of human sin that uses faith as the ultimate authority. There is the problem of sinners who take the opportunity to use God and use religion. And as long as humans are sinners, such stupidity is inevitable. It can also move things. But how things go is important, and if you are a Christian, there is a way to do things like a Christian.

Faith is a matter of our way of life, a change in our lives. Unless faith changes our character, what is the meaning of such faith is Christian faith. Unless faith changes the way we live, and above all, we are transformed into human beings who live in the love of God, there will be no miracle in our place of life. Our belief in God is about changing ourselves, and even about changing our families, communities, and societies. Let’s walk with a truly changed heart today. I pray that today will be a good day.
