7章 約束どおりに
1．神へのダビデの感謝
ダビデの王位は確立し、敵は征服されました。そして国の政治の中心に、天地万物をお造りになった唯一まことの神が位置付けられました。そこでダビデは今、自分の夢を預言者ナタンに告げています。つまり、天地万物のまことの支配者である神を中心とするこの国に、それを象徴する神殿、いわば主の家を建てたいという願いです。ダビデは、自分は素晴らしい「杉材の家に住んでいるのに、神の箱は天幕の中にとどまっている」（2節）ことを気にかけたのです。彼は考えたのです。どれほど神が彼によくしてくださったか、神あっての今日だ、と。そこで彼は、何かを持って、神にお返ししたい、そうだ、神の住まいのために立派な神殿を建てたいとなったのでしょう。
まずは、このような心を神に持つということが大事な点であると思います。しかし、人は、祝福された人生を歩んでも、それが神のおかげであるなどとはめったに考えないものでしょう。自分の力でここまでのし上がったのだ、と思うものではないでしょうか。窮した時には、神を求めても、繁栄の暁には、神を忘れてしまう、それが人間の性質、人間が罪人と言われるゆえんです。
ダビデは、そうではありませんでした。先の6章で、ダビデは、主の契約の箱をエルサレムに運び込む際に「主の前で力の限り跳ね回った」と言います。ダビデにとって神の存在は紛れもなく、この神によって今の自分があるという確信は、全身にあふれていたのです。そしてダビデはなんとか神にお返しをしたいという心を持ちました。ところがそのような熱いダビデの思いに対し、神は彼に否を伝えるのです（１歴代17:4）。神はダビデの思いがわからなかったのではありません。しかし、天地万物をお造りになった神が、この地上に人間が造った建物に鎮座すること自体が、ありえないこと。むしろ、天地万物をお造りになった神らしく、神は私は十分持っている、何もいらない、むしろそのようにあなたが感謝してくれるのなら、さらに祝福しようと語られるのです。神は恵みに恵みを重ねるお方です。
2．祝福を重ねられる主
宗教というものは、大方、神に供え物をするという考え方をします。神社仏閣において、人は、何かを奉納するものでしょう。しかし、神が天地万物をお造りになったお方であるというのなら、神がお造りになったものをもって、神を喜ばせるというのは、どんなものでしょう。そんなことで神が喜ぶものでしょうか。キリスト教会でも献金をしますが、その意味付けは、神を喜ばせるというよりも、神に対する人の心の感謝を表明する意味でなされるものです。そして、その実際的な意味は、教会の様々な必要を覚える愛の行為です。教会の働きのために専心している人々の生活を支える、あるいはそのような人々によって進められている慈善活動も含めた、教会の様々な必要に対する心遣いをするということです。つまりそれは、人を気遣い支える愛の証しとして献げされるものです。ともあれ、神は、供えを必要としないのです。神は祝福の根源であり、ただひたすら祝福のために存在するのです。母なる大地、母なる海という言い方がありますが、神は、私たちに満ち満ちた祝福を、惜しみなく与え尽くすお方であり、私たちに何かを求めることはないのです。その神の恵みを覚える時に、謙虚な心も生じることでしょう（18節）。そして、そのように、ひたすら祝福のために存在する神を覚えればこそ、私たちは「祈る勇気を得る」（27節）のです。主の祝福が確かであるように、と。神の約束のうちに確かに生きることができるようにと。
ある人は思うかもしれません。私は神の祝福を受けている感じが少しもしない、と。確かに世俗的な意味では、つまり物質的には何一つ祝福を受けていないと思わされることがあるものでしょう。ならばそのようなことも素直に祈り求めてもよいのではないかと私は思います。神にご利益を求めたところでしょうがないという気持ちもありますが、神が私たちを愛してくださっているという事実を知ることにおいて、徹底的に神に求める、ということはあるものでしょう。あなたはこう祈ってみてはどうでしょうか。「私はあなたの恵みをわかりたいと思うが、罪の目によって恵みがよくわからない、私はわかりたいのだ、キリストの故に与えられている大いなる祝福に与りたいのだ」と。神は正しい方ですから、神はご利益的な応答はなさらずとも、神を心から求める者の心をちゃんと受け止め、そのことを示してくださるはずです。神は、私たちが本当に必要なものを理解しておられる方です。私たちは、人ではなく、神でなければ満たせないものにこそ、気づかされ、神の恵みの豊かさの中に歩ませていただきたいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

- David’s Gratitude to God
David’s throne was established and his enemies were conquered. And at the center of national politics, the only true God who made all things heaven and earth was positioned. So David is now telling the Prophet Nathan his dream. In other words, I want to build a temple that symbolizes it, so to speak, the house of the Lord, in a country centered on God, who is the true ruler of all things. David was concerned that he was a wonderful “living in a Cedar house, but the ark of God remains in the tent” (ver. 2). He thought. How much God has done for him, today with God. So he wanted to take something and give it back to God, yes, he wanted to build a fine temple for God’s dwelling.
First of all, I think it is important to have this kind of heart in God. However, one would rarely think that it was God’s fault in a blessed life. You might think that you have made it up to this point with your own strength. Even if you ask for God when you are in need, you forget God when you are prosperous, because that is the nature of human beings, and human beings are said to be sinners.
David wasn’t. In the previous six chapters, David says that he “bounced as hard as he could before the Lord” when he brought the ark of the covenant of his Lord into Jerusalem. For David, the existence of God was undeniable, and the conviction that he was who he was was full of whole body. And David had a desire to somehow give back to God. However, in response to such a hot feeling of David, God tells him no (1 Chronicles 17: 4). God did not understand David’s thoughts. However, it is impossible for the God who made all things heaven and earth to sit in a building made by humans on this earth. Rather, like the God who made all things heaven and earth, God tells me that I have enough, I don’t need anything, and if you thank me that way, I will bless you even more. God is the one who graces grace.
- The Lord who can be blessed
Religion generally thinks of offering to God. In shrines and temples, people will dedicate something. But if God is the one who made all things heaven and earth, what would it be to please God with what God made? Is that what makes God happy? We also make donations in the Christian church, but the meaning is not to please God, but to express our heartfelt gratitude for God. And its practical meaning is the act of love to remember the various needs of the church. It is about supporting the lives of those who are devoted to the work of the Church, or caring for the various needs of the Church, including the philanthropic activities carried out by such people. In other words, it is offered as a proof of love that cares and supports people. In any case, God does not need an offering. God is the source of blessins and exists solely for blessings. There is a saying, Mother Earth, Mother Sea, but God is the one who generously gives us full blessings and does not ask us for anything. A humble heart will also arise when we remember the grace of God (ver.18). And, in this way, we “found courage to offer you this prayer” (ver. 27) only by remembering the God who exists for blessing. May the blessing of the Lord be certain. To be sure to live in God’s promise.
Some may think. I don’t feel like I’m receiving the blessing of God at all. Certainly, in a secular sense, that is, it may seem that you have not received any material blessings. Then, I think that such a thing may be prayed obediently. There is a feeling that we may have asked God for our benefit, but in knowing the fact that God loves us, we may ask God thoroughly. Why don’t you pray like this? “I want to see your grace, but I don’t understand it because of my sinful eyes, I want to understand, I want to take part in the great blessings given to Christ.” Since God is righteous, he should accept the hearts of those who truly seek him and show that, even if he does not give a beneficial response. God is the one who understands what we really need. We want to be aware of what only God can satisfy, not humans, and walk into the abundance of God’s grace. I pray that today will be a good day.
