人から嫌われたり、避けられたりすると、誰でも孤独を感じます。信仰を持っている人でも、神が何も語ってくれないように感じる時があります。祈っても答えがないように思える――そんな現実に、私たちは時に直面します。
2．ダビデの置かれた状況と選択の背景
ダビデは、600人の部下とその家族、そして自分の妻たちを守らなければならない立場にありました。安全な場所を探していましたが、サウル王が3,000人の兵を率いて命を狙ってくる状況では、どこにいても安心できません。
聖書の物語の流れを見ると、ダビデは何度も逃げることになります。そしてその間、神が直接語りかける場面はほとんどありません。これは、「神が沈黙している時、人はどう生きるのか」という問いを私たちに投げかけているようです。
ダビデは、「いつかサウルに殺されるのではないか」と不安に押しつぶされ、神の助けを信じる余裕すらなくなっていました。
3．信仰と現実の間で：ダビデの迷いと行動
聖書には、「信仰とは、望んでいることを保証し、目に見えないものを確信させるもの」（ヘブル11:1）と書かれています。
たとえば、子どもが与えられると信じて長い間待ち続けた夫婦アブラハムとサラや、使命を受けて荒野で準備された指導者モーセなど、神の約束を信じて歩み続けた人々がいます。
しかし、ダビデはこの時、神ではなく敵の将軍アキシュのもとへ逃げ、守ってもらおうとしました。これは、現実的には賢い選択だったかもしれませんが、神への信頼を手放した行動でもあります。
信仰を持っている人でも、現実の重さに押されて、神を信じることが難しくなる時があります。そして、表面的には平和に見える「偽りの平和」を選んでしまうこともあるのです。
4．ダビデの行動の結果と心の葛藤
ダビデは、ペリシテ人の村々を襲って食料などを手に入れ、家族を養いました。しかし、その行動が知られることを恐れ、村人たちに厳しい仕打ちをすることもありました。また、アキシュには嘘をついていました。
神の前では誠実でありたいと願う人が、同じ口で嘘をつく。弱い人たちに対して、力で押さえつける――こうした矛盾は、信仰者の心に深い葛藤を生みます。
聖書の注解書の中には、この時期を「霊的に落ち込んでいた時期」と見るものもあります。ダビデが神との関係を見失っていた可能性があるというのです。
この時期、ダビデが詩篇を書いていないことも、その証拠かもしれません。神との対話を避けていたのか、あるいはもう諦めてしまっていたのかもしれません。掠奪隊の頭として生きることに満足しようとしていたようにも見えます。
このような姿は、サウル王と変わらないようにも思えます。しかし、後に明らかになるように、ダビデにはサウルにはなかったものがありました。それは、神のあわれみにすがり、悔い改めることができる心です。
5．神の計画と人間の弱さ
アキシュはダビデにツィケラグという町を与えました。そこは本来、ユダ族の町になるはずだった場所です。誰のものでもなかった土地を、戦わずして得ることができた――これは、神の計画の一部だったと考えられます。
神は、どんなに落ちていく人にも寄り添い、導いてくださる方です。ダビデがどれほど迷っても、神は彼を見捨てず、イスラエルの王としての使命へと導いていきました。
6．現代の私たちへの示唆：信仰とは何か
私たちも時に、「神は人選を間違えたのではないか」「自分は神の思いを読み違えているのではないか」と悩むことがあります。そして、自分の小さな目標に満足するしかないと思い、神の思いを問い続けることをやめてしまうこともあるでしょう。
でも、本当に大切なのは、自分の気持ちや他人の意見ではなく、神の思いを考えることです。
職場での悩み、家庭での問題、教会での孤独――そうした現実の中でこそ、神の語りかけを待つ姿勢が必要です。
詩篇130には「主よ、わたしはあなたを待ち望みます」とあります。信仰とは、状況に合わせて心を変えることではなく、神の思いに心を近づけていく歩みなのです。

ダビデの物語は、信仰を持っていても迷い、弱さを抱えることがあるという現実を教えてくれます。大切なのは、どんな状況でも神に信頼し、神の導きを待つ姿勢です。

1. David’s Struggle and the Reality of Faith
“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” (Psalm 13:1)
These words are said to be David’s prayer during a hard time. The Psalms are honest prayers to God. They are different from 1 Samuel, which tells history, but both show the deep feelings of people.
When people feel hated or avoided, they feel lonely. Even people of faith sometimes feel that God is silent. We pray, but it seems there is no answer. This is real life for many of us.
2. David’s Situation and His Choice
David had 600 men, their families, and his wives to protect. He needed a safe place. But Saul was chasing him with 3,000 soldiers. There was no safe place.
In this time, God did not speak to David often. This makes us ask: “What do we do when God seems silent?”
David thought, “One day Saul will kill me.” Fear filled his heart, and he lost the strength to trust God.
3. Between Faith and Reality
The Bible says, “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1).
Abraham and Sarah waited for a child. Moses waited in the desert. They trusted God’s promise.
But David ran to Achish, the Philistine leader, for safety. This looked wise, but it showed weak faith.
Even believers can feel too tired to trust God. Sometimes we choose a “false peace” that looks safe but is not real.
4. The Result and David’s Struggle
David attacked villages to get food and lied to Achish. He even killed people to hide the truth.
He wanted to be honest before God, but he lied. He wanted to protect the weak, but he hurt them. This made a deep struggle in his heart.
Some Bible teachers say this was David’s “spiritual low point.” He wrote no psalms in this time. Maybe he avoided prayer or gave up hope. He tried to live as a raider, but this was not God’s plan.
David looked like Saul, but there was one big difference: David could repent and ask for God’s mercy.
5. God’s Plan and Human Weakness
Achish gave David the town of Ziklag. This town later became part of Judah. David got it without fighting. This shows God was still working.
God never left David. Even when David made mistakes, God guided him to his calling as king.
6. What This Means for Us
We also ask, “Did God make a mistake in choosing me?” or “Am I wrong about God’s plan?” Sometimes we stop asking God and settle for small goals.
But what matters is not our feelings or others’ opinions. What matters is God’s will.
In work, family, or church, we need to wait for God’s voice. Psalm 130 says, “I wait for the Lord.” Faith is not changing with the situation. Faith is moving closer to God’s heart.
7. Summary David’s story shows that even people of faith can feel weak and lost. But the most important thing is to keep trusting God and wait for His guidance.
