- 幕屋礼拝の開始（9:1-21）
レビ記8章では、アロンとその子どもたちの祭司の任職式が丁寧に描かれていました。そしてその儀式が8日目に終わると、モーセはアロンとその子どもたちに、最初の礼拝をおこなうように命じます。これまでモーセが勤めていた役割が、正式にアロンとその家系に引き継がれたのです。これは、かつてモーセの義父イテロがモーセにアドバイスしたように、仕事を分担し、負担を軽減するための重要なステップでした。重要なことは、任務を明確にし、手本を示し、実践させてから委任することです。
アロンたちは、まず自分自身のために（8-14節）、次に民のために（15-21節）、ささげ物を献げました。それは、罪のきよめのささげ物、全焼のささげ物、交わりのいけにというものでした。このとき、アロンとその子どもたちは「主がモーセに命じられたとおり」（10節）、「規定のとおり」（16節）、「モーセが命じたとおり」（21節）と、神の指示を一つひとつ忠実に守りながら礼拝を行いました。
この姿勢は、私たちに大切なことを教えてくれます。現代の信仰生活においても、私たちは自己流で礼拝を行ったり、信仰生活を送ったりするのではなく、神が望んでおられる形を知る努力が必要です。たとえば、礼拝に参加すること、祈ること、聖書を読むこと、献金をすることといった行動が、果たして神の期待に会っているかどうかを考えなければなりません。
特に現代では、聖書の理解が浅く、表面的になりがちです。聖書を理解していると感じても、実際には自分の関心に引き寄せて読んでいるだけで、聖書の著者が意図したメッセージを見落としていることがあります。それを防ぐために、聖書のことばにしっかり向き合い、命じられたことを忠実に実行していくことが求められています。 - 主の受納（9:23, 24）
では、アロンたちが忠実に祭司としての務めを果たした結果、何が起きたでしょうか。レビ記9章の終わりには、このように書かれています。「主の栄光が民全体に現れ、火が主の前から出てきて、祭壇の上の全焼のささげ物と脂肪を焼き尽くした。民はみな、これを見て喜び叫び、ひれ伏した」（23-24節）。既に6節で、命じられたことを行えば「主の栄光があなたがたに現れる」と語られていました。その通りにした結果、その場にいた民は、これを見て喜び、声をあげ、神の前にひれ伏しました。つまり神に対する喜びと共に、神をまことに恐れ、敬う心が生じたのです。
この出来事は、神のことばに従うことの重要さを教えています。かつてヤコブは、自らの過ちから家を追い出され、ベテルの荒野で一夜を過ごしました。そこで彼は夢を見、神の祝福を受けました。「見よ。わたしはあなたとともにいて、あなたがどこへ行っても、あなたを守り、あなたをこの地に連れ帰る。わたしは、あなたに約束したことを成し遂げるまで、決してあなたを捨てない」（創世記28:15）。ヤコブは目覚めて、「まことに主がこの場所におられる。それなのに、私はそれを知らなかった」（創世記28:16）と告白しました。神の栄光に触れたヤコブも同じ経験をしています。喜びと恐れが同時に感じられるのは、不思議に思うかもしれません。しかし、それは神への感謝と愛、そして畏敬の念が融合したものであり、信仰生活においてとても大切な感覚です。
神から出た火が「全焼のささげ物と脂肪を焼き尽くした」（24節）というのは、私たちの心からのささげ物と献身を神が受け入れてくださったことを示しています。悔い改めと新しい献身を示す私たちの心を、神は喜んで受け入れてくださいます。
3．神と共に歩むために
神は祝福の神であり、私たちと共に歩んでくださるお方です。時には、神の存在を感じにくいこともあるでしょう。しかしそのようなときでさえ、神の約束は変わりません。神が私たちを見守り、導いてくださることを信じ、私たちも神に信頼を置いて生きることが大切です。

Leviticus Chapter 9: The Start of Tabernacle Worship and Aaron’s Ordination
In this chapter, the worship at the Tabernacle officially begins, and Aaron and his sons take on their roles as priests. Let’s look at the events step by step.
- The Start of Tabernacle Worship (9:1-21)
Leviticus Chapter 8 describes in detail the ordination ceremony for Aaron and his sons. On the eighth day, after the ceremony ended, Moses instructed Aaron and his sons to perform their first worship duties. The responsibilities Moses had previously carried out were now officially passed on to Aaron and his family. This was an important step to share the workload, just as Moses’ father-in-law, Jethro, had advised him before. The key is to clarify roles, lead by example, and allow others to practice before fully delegating responsibility.
Aaron and his sons first offered sacrifices for themselves (verses 8-14), and then for the people (verses 15-21). They offered a sin offering, a burnt offering, and a fellowship offering. In every step, they carefully followed God’s instructions: “As the Lord commanded Moses” (verse 10), “according to the regulation” (verse 16), and “as Moses commanded” (verse 21).
This example teaches us an important lesson. In our faith today, we shouldn’t follow our own ways of worship or faith practices. Instead, we must strive to understand what God desires. For example, attending worship services, praying, reading the Bible, and giving offerings are actions we should consider carefully—are they aligned with God’s expectations?
In modern times, it’s easy to have a shallow or surface-level understanding of the Bible. We might think we understand it, but sometimes, we interpret it in a way that suits our own interests, missing the message the Bible’s authors intended. To avoid this, we must pay close attention to God’s Word and strive to follow His instructions faithfully.
- God’s Acceptance (9:23-24)
What happened as a result of Aaron’s faithful service as a priest? At the end of Leviticus Chapter 9, we read: “The glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown” (verses 23-24). Earlier in verse 6, it was said that if they followed God’s instructions, “the glory of the Lord will appear to you.” True to this promise, the people saw God’s presence, and their hearts were filled with both joy and reverence.
This event highlights the importance of following God’s Word. A similar experience is found in the story of Jacob. After making a mistake and fleeing his home, Jacob spent a night in the wilderness at Bethel. There he had a dream and received God’s blessing: “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you” (Genesis 28:15). Jacob woke up and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it” (Genesis 28:16). Like Jacob, we too experience both joy and reverence when we encounter God’s glory.
The fire that consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions (verse 24) was a sign that God accepted the people’s sacrifices and devotion. In the same way, God is pleased when we come to Him with repentance and renewed dedication.
- Walking with God
God is a God of blessing, and He walks with us. There may be times when we don’t feel His presence. Even so, God’s promises never change. Trusting that God is watching over us and guiding us is essential.
