ヤコブは、人生の最期に、子どもたち一人一人に祝福の言葉を語ります。「私は終わりの日に、あなた方に起こることを告げよう」（1節）とあるように、それは、ヤコブの子らの未来に関する預言として読むべき個所でしょう。そして「終わりの日」とありますが、それは、「後の日」とも訳されるので、終末預言というものではない、後の時代の預言、おそらくカナン定住時代を想定しているようです。
まず、ルベンは長子ですが、その特権を失うとされます。それは、彼が性的な抑制を欠いて父の寝床を汚したためです。彼は、力はあっても、水のように奔放であるとされます。後の士師の時代、ルベン族は、優柔不断を責められ、リーダーシップを欠いた状況に陥っていますから、まさにヤコブが語ったとおりになった、と言うべきでしょう（士師5:151,16）。
シメオンとレビは、シェケムでの残虐行為の故か、一緒にされています。そして彼らの悪には関わるなと語られます（6節）。復讐的な大虐殺は、神の義なる裁きとは異なるものなのです。また彼らはヤコブが預言したとおりに散らされました。シメオン族は、ユダ族の中に吸収され（ヨシュア19:1-9）レビ族も土地を相続していません（ヨシュア18:7）。ただ神は、彼らを裁いて、後は知らんぷりではありません。レビ族は、目に見える土地を相続しませんでしたが、主の祭司として仕える名誉ある役割を与えられました。
ユダは獅子の子と呼ばれます。10節、「王権はユダを離れず」は、後のイスラエル部族での主導権を預言しています。「シロ」の意味は不明ですが、伝統的には、このヘブル語を「シェロー」と読み替えて、「彼に属するものが来るまで（ユダが受け継ぐものがすべて明らかになるまで）」と理解し、メシヤ預言的な内容があるとされてきました。つまり、ダビデあるいはイエスの到来を預言していると理解するのです。アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブと伝えられた霊的な祝福は、ユダに与えられるのです。11節の、ぶどう酒が水代わりに、またぶどうの木が家畜をつなぐ杭にされるというのは、ユダのリーダーシップのもと、豊かな時代が到来することを預言しています。
13節、ゼブルンは「海辺に」と語られます。しかし、後に彼らが相続した土地は、海岸沿いではなく（士師5:17）、シドンでもありませんでした。ただそれは、シドンという重要な商業都市に向かうルート上にあったので、シドンの商業活動に依存する地域でした。
14節、イッサカルは、ロバのように静かで大人しい、と言います。彼らは実際、カナン人たちの奴隷となり、士師の時代解放を求めてデボラと共に戦っています（士師5:15）。
16節、ダンの名は、黙示録7:5-8にあるイスラエル12部族の構成リストからは消えています。ダンは、巨大なユダに比較し、小さな蛇のような部族とされます。たとえそうであっても彼らには正義を行うことが期待されました。しかし、士師18章に見るダンはそうではなく、結果ダンの名を消し去ることになったのかもしれません。推測するまでです。
19節、ガドは、隣接する地域から絶えず、脅かされる地域にありましたが、その状況にひるむことがない、とされます。モーセによってその状況は、さらに詳しく述べられます（申命記33:20-21）。
20節、アシェルは、カルメルとフェニキアを結ぶ海岸性に面した肥沃な土地を相続し、繁栄しました。しかし、その豊かさを、彼らはカナンの住民との妥協的な共存のために費やした可能性があります（士師1:32）。
21節、ナフタリは、機敏で自由を愛する精神を持ち、祝福されることが単純に語られます。確かに彼らは、ガリラヤ湖周辺、イスラエルでもよい地域を相続地としました。
22節、ヨセフは、メシヤの系図に与ることはありませんでしたが、その生涯は、メシヤの生涯を象徴するものです。兄弟たちから憎まれ、銀貨で売り飛ばされ、様々な形で苦しめられ囚われの身となり、最終的には勝利し、家族を助ける。それは、イエスの十字架と復活の生涯の象徴です。
以上の12部族に対する預言の細部は、意味が取りにくく、実際の史実にも沿っていない部分もあり、よく理解できないところがあるのも事実です。しかし、全体として、イスラエルの12部族は、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブに始まる一つの民であり、神の祝福の民としての方向性があることを語った、と言えます。
なおヨセフは、大臣になるべく教育を受けた人物ではありません。しかし神はそのヨセフを立て、用いられました。それはまさに「全能の神による祝福」です。人は、神によって機会を与えられ、祝福されるのです。大切なのは、人生において神に味方となっていただくことで、神による祝福があることを覚えることです。となれば、いかなる人生にも、能力によらず、勢いによらず、ただ神による希望があるのです。神のことばは真実です。神の祝福がありますように。チャンネル登録、メンバー登録よろしくお願いいたします。ではまた明日このチャンネルでお会いしましょう。
Genesis 49: Jacob’s Blessing
At the end of his life, Jacob spoke words of blessing to each of his children. As it says, “I will tell you in the last days what will happen to you” (verse 1), this should be read as a prophecy about the future of Jacob’s children. And although it says “the last days,” it can also be translated as “the latter days,” so it seems to be a prophecy of a later time, probably the time of the settlement of Canaan, rather than an end-time prophecy.
First, Reuben is the firstborn, but he loses his privilege. This is because he lacked sexual restraint and defiled his father’s bed. He is powerful, but is as unrestrained as water. Later, in the time of the judges, the tribe of Reuben is criticized for indecisiveness and is in a situation where they lack leadership, so it should be said that it happened exactly as Jacob spoke (Judges 5:151,16).
Simeon and Levi are together, perhaps because of their cruelty at Shechem. And he tells them not to have anything to do with their evil (verse 6). A vengeful massacre is not God’s righteous judgment. They were scattered as Jacob prophesied. The tribe of Simeon was absorbed into the tribe of Judah (Joshua 19:1-9), and the tribe of Levi did not inherit the land (Joshua 18:7). However, God did not judge them and then leave them alone. The tribe of Levi did not inherit any visible land, but they were given the honorable role of serving as the Lord’s priests. Judah is called a lion’s cub. Verse 10, “The kingship shall not depart from Judah,” prophesies the leadership of the later tribes of Israel. The meaning of “Shiloh” is unknown, but traditionally, this Hebrew word has been interpreted as “Sheloh,” meaning “until his own comes (until all of Judah’s inheritance is made clear),” and it has been considered to have a messianic prophetic content. In other words, it is understood to be a prophecy of the coming of David or Jesus. The spiritual blessings passed down to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are given to Judah. In verse 11, wine is used as water and vines are used as stakes for tying livestock, prophesying the coming of a prosperous age under Judah’s leadership.
In verse 13, Zebulun is said to be “by the sea.” However, the land they later inherited was not on the coast (Judges 5:17) nor in Sidon. However, it was on the route to the important commercial city of Sidon, and so it was an area dependent on the commercial activities of Sidon.
In verse 14, Issachar is said to be quiet and docile like a donkey. They actually became slaves to the Canaanites and fought with Deborah for liberation during the time of Judges (Judges 5:15).
In verse 16, Dan’s name is missing from the list of the twelve tribes of Israel in Revelation 7:5-8. Dan is described as a small snake-like tribe compared to the giant Judah. Even so, they were expected to do justice. However, Dan in Judges 18 was not like that, and as a result, Dan’s name may have been erased. We can only speculate.
Verse 19: Gad was in an area that was constantly threatened by neighboring regions, but he did not flinch from the situation. Moses further elaborates on this situation (Deuteronomy 33:20-21).
Verse 20: Asher inherited fertile land along the coast between Carmel and Phoenicia and prospered. However, it is possible that they spent their wealth on a compromising coexistence with the inhabitants of Canaan (Judges 1:32).
Verse 21: Naphtali is simply described as being blessed with an agile and freedom-loving spirit. They certainly inherited a good area around the Sea of Galilee, even in Israel.
Verse 22: Joseph did not share in the genealogy of the Messiah, but his life is symbolic of the Messiah’s life. Hated by his brothers, sold for silver coins, tormented and imprisoned in various ways, but ultimately triumphed and saved his family. This is a symbol of Jesus’ life of crucifixion and resurrection.
The details of the prophecy against the 12 tribes are difficult to understand, and some parts do not follow actual historical facts, so it is true that there are some parts that are difficult to understand. However, as a whole, it can be said that the 12 tribes of Israel are one people that began with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and that they have a direction as a people of God’s blessing.
Joseph was not educated to become a minister. However, God raised him up and used him. This is truly a “blessing from Almighty God.” People are given opportunities and blessed by God. The important thing is to remember that God’s blessings are available by having God on your side in life. Then, in any life, there is hope that comes only from God, regardless of ability or momentum.
