1．文脈と背景
詩篇の第五巻、都上りの歌は、それぞれ都上りの各段階を思わせる変化があって面白いところがあります。133篇は、巡礼者たちがエルサレムに到着し、皆が集合した時の、楽しさ、親しいここちよさを詠ったものなのでしょう。最も、表題には「ダビデによる」とありますが、アラム語やギリシア語の七十人訳にはありません。ダビデが12部族を統一した喜びを礼拝の中で詠ったということも考えられるのですが、この詩もまた他の都上りの歌と同様に、捕囚期後にダビデ風に書かれた、と考えるのが妥当のようです。
イスラエルの民は、期待感をもってエルサレムに集まっていました。その旅の途上、彼らは、神の力によって助け出され、また神の力によって乗り越えた自分達の歴史を思い起こしていました（詩篇132）。また自分たちが乗り越えた苦難や悲しみの深さを思い起こさせられていました（詩篇129、130、131）。そして、エルサレムに到着した今、同じ目的を持って旅を続けてきた仲間が勢ぞろいしている様子に、心動かされ、神への感謝に浸っているのです。1節「見よ。なんという幸せ、なんという楽しさだろう。兄弟たちが一つになって、ともに生きることは」（133:1）と。
2．幸せと楽しさ
彼らは、自分たちが感じている幸せと楽しさを、まず聖別の油注ぎに例えました。聖別のための油注ぎは、神に仕える祭司が任職の際に受けるものです（レビ記8:12）。2節はそのしるしの豊かさを詠っています。つまり、そのしあわせと楽しさは、神に仕えるように召された者たちの特別な経験なのです。それは、単純に親しみ合い仲良くする経験を語っているのではありません。ある意味で、何かの選抜チームに加えられた者たちが、顔を合わせた時の喜びであり、楽しさです。
またその幸せと楽しさは、ヘルモンの露に例えられています。雨の少ないパレスチナの夏では、夜に冷え込むと必ず露が降ります。海から流れて来る湿った空気が、冷やされるからです。そして、葡萄などの農作物に豊かな実りを与え、家畜を成長させます（ハガイ1:10,11）。モーセは12部族に対する祝福の祈りの中で「彼の地は主に祝福されたもの。天の賜物の露、下に横たわる大いなる水の賜物」（申命記33:13）と語りましたが、露は実りを得させる神の祝福そのものなのです。つまり彼らは、様々な意味で実りある働きに召された者たちの集まりであったとも言えるでしょう。
3．神の命令
1節、「共に生きる」は、一時的な滞在を意味しています。しかし、一時的であればまだしも、これからもずっと、となったなら、そこでなんというしあわせ、なんという楽しさと言い続けられるのかどうか、これは問題です。旧約の族長たちの歴史は、同じ神の民であれ、互いに価値も違い、背景の違う者どうしが、一致して仲睦まじく生活することがいかに困難であるかを物語っています。アブラハムとロト、イサクの家族、ヤコブの家族、どれをとっても、家族が一つの使命に立って、仲睦まじく暮らし続けた話はありません。
都会の教会で牧会をしながら、思うことは、都会では地方の教会と違って教会員の出入りが激しいことです。そしてしばしば痛みに思うことは、自教会の信徒が他教会に顔を出す時に生じる問題です。昔は、許可もなく他教会に出入りしてはならないとはっきり言う牧師もおりました。ただ私は、信徒を育てることは子育てと同じと考えています。子どもは、親のみならず、様々に世間様のお世話を受けながら育っていくものです。信徒も同じです。ですから私は、自教会の信徒が他教会に出入りすることは問題にしませんが、ママ友のお付き合いと同じような他教会への配慮が必要だと考えています。またそれぞれの教会は、主にある同じ使命を果たすために一致を必要とするお付き合いのある教会だと考えています。ライバルではありませんし、優劣をつけるような間柄でもありません。ただ現実問題としては、他教会へ顔を出す信徒にそうした理解に乏しいことがあって、種々難しい問題を生じさせてしまうことがあります。ただそれも反抗期の子どもを抱えるような時なのでしょう。そして反抗期の難しい子どもを我に返らす妙案などありませんから、天来の気づきが与えられるように祈ることが大切になります。つまり、罪人の集まりである教会が祝された愛の教会になるには、3節、「主がそこに、とこしえのいのちの祝福を命じられた」という、神の業こそ必要なのです。では、今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Psalm 133: Seeking God’s Blessing
1. context and background
The fifth book of the Psalms, Songs of the Ascents, is interesting in that it has variations reminiscent of the various stages of the ascent, with Psalm 133 probably describing the joyful, friendly atmosphere of the pilgrims’ arrival in Jerusalem when they are all assembled together. The title of the psalm is “by David,” which is not found in the Aramaic or Greek translations of the LXX. It is conceivable that David composed this poem in worship to express his joy at uniting the 12 tribes, but it seems reasonable to assume that this poem, like the other songs of the exodus, was written in Davidic style after the captivity.
The Israelites had gathered in Jerusalem with a sense of anticipation. On their journey, they recalled their history of being rescued and overcome by the power of God (Psalm 132). They were also reminded of the depth of the hardships and sorrows they had overcome (Psalms 129, 130, 131). And now that they have arrived in Jerusalem, they are moved and immersed in thanksgiving to God for the company of others who have traveled with the same purpose. v.1 “Behold, what happiness, what joy! What happiness, what joy! That the brethren should be one and live together” (133:1).
2. happiness and enjoyment
They first compared the happiness and enjoyment they felt to the anointing for sanctification. The anointing for sanctification is something that priests serving God receive at the time of their ordination (Leviticus 8:12), and verse 2 recites the abundance of the sign. In other words, the happiness and enjoyment is a special experience for those who are called to serve God. It is not simply speaking of the experience of getting along with one another in a friendly and convivial manner. It is, in a sense, the joy and fun of those who have been added to some select team and meet face to face.
And that happiness and enjoyment is likened to the dew of Hermon. In the Palestinian summer, when rainfall is scarce, dew always falls when the nights get cold. This is because the moist air coming from the sea is cooled. The dew then gives an abundant harvest of grapes and other crops and makes the livestock grow (Haggai 1:10,11). In his prayer of blessing for the twelve tribes, Moses said, “His land is blessed by the Lord. The dew is the gift of heaven, and the great waters that lie beneath” (Deuteronomy 33:13), and the dew is the very blessing of God that causes them to be fruitful. In other words, they were a group of people who were called to fruitful work in many ways.
3. God’s command
In verse 1, “live together” implies a temporary sojourn. However, if it is only temporary, or if it is for a long time to come, it is a question of whether we can continue to say how happy and how joyful we are there. The history of the Old Testament chiefs shows how difficult it is for people of different values and backgrounds to live together in harmony, even if they are all God’s people. Abraham and Lot, Isaac’s family, Jacob’s family, none of these stories are about families living in unity and fellowship on a single mission.
As I pastor an urban church, I am reminded that in a city, unlike a rural church, church members come and go. And what often causes me pain is the problem that arises when a member of my own church shows up at another church. In the past, there were some pastors who clearly stated that they should not go to other churches without permission. However, I believe that raising a congregation is like raising a child. Children grow up under the care of society as well as their parents. It is the same for congregations. Therefore, I do not have a problem with members of my own church coming and going to other churches, but I think it is necessary to be considerate of other churches in the same way as socializing with one’s mother’s friends. I also believe that each church is an anointed by the Lord with a relationship that requires unity to accomplish the same mission. They are not rivals, nor are they superior or inferior to each other. However, the reality is that sometimes the congregations that visit other churches lack such understanding, and this can cause various difficult problems. But that is probably also the case when we have children who are rebellious. And since there is no such thing as a miracle to turn a difficult rebellious child back to God, it is important to pray for heavenly awareness to be given to them. In other words, for the church, an assembly of sinners, to become a church of blessed love, it is necessary to do the work of God as stated in verse 3: “The Lord commanded the blessing of life everlasting in it. I pray that today will be another good day.
