1．よその女
箴言5章は、著者が我が子に率直な警告を与えているところです。3節で「よその女」と訳されたヘブル語は、ザアラーで、一般には「よそ者」と訳され、様々に解釈されてきました。遊女、売春婦という説、そして外国の女性、ことに異教的な習慣を持ったカナンやフェニキヤの女たちとする解釈、さらには象徴的に理解し、いかがわしい宗教、たとえば当時のアシュタロテのような偶像礼拝とする解釈、と様々です。しかし、6節を読むと、このよそ者は「知恵」を求めず、刹那的な快楽を求めてふわふわ生きる女です。文脈からすれば遊女と理解するのが自然でしょう。箴言の著者は、「はっきり言うが、そのような女との関わりは避けなさい」と言うのです。
2．先を予測した歩み
それがどれほど人生を台無しにするものか、結果を刈り取ってからでは遅い、と言います。つまり、その結果は、9節尊厳を失う、10節財を失う、11節健康を損ねる、そして14節、何よりも神の民としての面目を失うことになる、と。最初は、甘く、楽しい時を持つかもしれませんが、終わりは砂を噛む苦いものとなる。実際、心と体は繋がっているので、それは身体的な問題のみに終わらず、精神的にもお互いを傷つけあい、打ちのめすものとなるのです。その時に、聖書は確かにそう言っていたな、教会の牧師はそんなことを説教で言っていたな、と思い出しても遅いのだ、ということでしょう。（12節）。
知恵は、問題の早期発見、早期治療につながるものです。事前に、先を見通し最悪の結果を予測し、そのような事態に陥らないように生きるからこそ、知恵者なのです。物事は知っているが、知っているとおりには歩めなかったというのは、知恵者ではありません。昨日もお話しましたように、まさに知恵は、目、口、手、足の動きに結び合わされる、つまり身をもって示されるものです。大切なのは、予防策としての知恵があることです。
3．伴侶を愛する
そしてさらに大切なのは、今ある関係を大事にすることだ、と言います。15節「あなた自身の水溜めから水を飲め」。つまり自分の伴侶を愛せよ、と言います。与えられている妻を、夫を大事にしなさい、そして、19節「いつも彼女の愛に酔うがよい」と言います。「酔う」と訳されたヘブル語の意味は「中毒」です。理性を失うほどの深い関係が、伴侶との関係というべきものなのだ、ということです。アダムがエバを見て「これこそ、私の骨からの骨、私の肉からの肉」と語った関係、神がその様子を見て「男は父と母を離れ、その妻と結ばれ、二人は一体となる」という一体の関係はそういうものでしょう。
著者は続けて言います。愚か者であってはならない。悟りの無い者であってはならない。主はすべてを見ておられるのであるし、その歩みの一つ一つを覚えておられる。誰が見ていなくても、神の前に、恥ずかしくない歩みをする。神の前に誠実な歩みをし、神の教えをただ知っているというのではなく、神の教訓に生きる歩みが求められているのです。23節の「愚かさ」と訳されたヘブル語はイウェレット。頑固さを特徴とする愚かさです。人間、その性格は、35歳を過ぎると固まると言われます。そして歳を取れば取るほど、もともとあった性質が強く出てくるものです。つまり人間は頑固さをもった愚か者、その愚かさのゆえに道から迷いでる弱さがあることを覚えたいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Proverbs 5: Love what you love.
1. The woman from afar
Proverbs 5 is where the author gives an honest warning to his child: the Hebrew word translated “stranger” in verse 3 is za’arah, which is commonly translated “stranger” and has been interpreted in a variety of ways. Some interpret it as a prostitute, others as a foreign woman, especially those of Canaan or Phoenicia with pagan customs, and still others understand it symbolically to refer to a disreputable religion, such as the Ashtarothic idolatry of the time. However, verse 6 shows that this stranger is a woman who does not seek “wisdom” but lives a fluffy life, seeking fleeting pleasures. In context, it is natural to understand her as a prostitute. The author of Proverbs says, “I tell you plainly, avoid association with such a woman.
2. Anticipatory steps.
He says that it is too late to reap the consequences of how much it ruins your life. In other words, the consequences are: verse 9, loss of dignity; verse 10, loss of wealth; verse 11, loss of health; and verse 14, above all, loss of face as God’s people. At first, we may have sweet, joyful moments, but the end will be bitter, sand-chewing. In fact, since the mind and body are connected, it will not end only with physical problems, but also with spiritual ones that will hurt and destroy each other. At that time, it will be too late to remember that the Bible indeed said so, or that the pastor of the church said such things in his sermon. (v. 12).
Wisdom leads to early detection and early treatment of problems. A person is a wise person because he or she looks ahead and anticipates the worst possible outcome in advance, and lives to avoid such a situation. It is not wisdom to say that you know things, but you could not walk according to what you know. As I mentioned yesterday, wisdom is precisely that which is combined with the movement of the eyes, mouth, hands, and feet, in other words, it is demonstrated vicariously. The important thing is to have wisdom as a preventive measure.
3. Love your mate.
He says to love your spouse and, more importantly, to cherish the relationship you have now, v. 15: “Drink water from your own cistern.” In other words, love your spouse. He tells us to cherish the wife and husband we have been given, and then he says in verse 19, “Be drunk with her love at all times. The Hebrew word translated “intoxicated” means “addicted. It means that the relationship with one’s spouse should be so deep that one loses one’s ability to reason. This is the kind of relationship in which Adam looked at Eve and said, “This is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh,” and God looked at her and said, “A man leaves his father and mother, and is joined to his wife, and they become one.
The author goes on to say. Do not be a fool. Do not be unenlightened. The Lord sees everything and remembers each of your steps. Walk unashamedly before God, even if no one is watching. We are to walk with integrity before God, not just knowing what He teaches, but living His precepts. the Hebrew word translated “foolishness” in verse 23 is iwelet. It is foolishness characterized by stubbornness. People, it is said, harden their character after the age of 35. And the older we get, the stronger our original nature comes out. In other words, we should remember that we are fools with stubbornness, and because of our foolishness, we have the weakness to stray from the path. I wish you a good day today.
