1．知恵を求めよ
ここで、知恵は擬人化されています。知恵が人のように街頭で立って演説しているように描かれています。10、11節、知恵は声を張り上げます。「金ではなく、わたしの訓戒を受けよ。選り抜きの黄金よりも、知識を受けよ。知恵は真珠にまさり、どんな喜びも、これとは比べられないからだ。」知恵を得た時の喜びは大きい。それは、金銀では得られない満足だ、と言うのです。
というのも、そこには12節「知識と思慮がある」、つまり、物事を良く理解するための知識があり、考え抜いて正しい判断を下せる思慮があるというわけです。それによって、高ぶり、おごり、悪の道、ねじれたことばから自分を守ることができる、と。しかも、15節「わたしによって、王たちは治め、君主たちは正義を定める。」とあるように、それは単に個人的な利益ではなく、公的な利益をもたらすものなのです。
さらに知恵は語ります。18節「富と誉はわたしとともにある。」。確かに、世界一の知恵者と言われた古代イスラエルのソロモン王がそうであったように、知恵を愛するなら、繁栄と名誉、そして豊かな富もついてくる、というわけですね（列王記第一 3章）。
このように、明晰さ、正義、富と三拍子そろった結果を生み出す知恵は、どのようにして得られるのか。17節「わたしを愛する者を、わたしは愛する。わたしを熱心に捜す者は、わたしを見出す。」とあります。難しいことではありません。ただ知恵を愛し、追及し、地道に、熱心に探しだすことです。
2．知恵の起源
ではそれをどこで探すのか。22節からは、その知恵のありかが語られます。知恵は大昔から、創造のはじめから神と共にあった、と言います。元来この箇所は、三位一体の神論、ことに御父と御子との関係を説明するものとして議論されてきたところです。しかし、ここは、そのような神学的な議論を展開するよりも、単純に、知恵の鉱脈について語っている、つまり知恵を見出すべき場所が語られていると自然な文脈の流れで読みたいところです。知恵は、神によって生み出され（24節）、神に与えられたものだ、と。やはりひらめきが与えられるのも、思いがけない気づきが与えられるのも、上からでしょう。本当に重要な知恵は、天から降る、神からのプレゼントと思われるものです。知恵者と呼ばれたソロモンも、神に知恵を願って与えられました。使徒パウロも、コロサイ人への手紙の中で、キリストに知恵と知識の宝のすべてが隠されていると語っています（コロサイ1:15-17、2:3）。ヤコブも語っています。「あなたがたのうちに、知恵に欠けている人がいるなら、その人は、だれにでも惜しみなく、とがめることなく与えてくださる神に求めなさい。そうすれば与えられます」（ヤコブ1:4）。
神にえこひいきはないのですから、私たちにも同じようにしてくださるはずです。ですから大切なのは、自らの知恵の足りなさを謙虚に認めて、これを神に求めていくかどうかです。私たちの人生を豊かにし、今の現実の社会に光を与える知恵を、神に求めていきたいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 8: Seek Wisdom
1. seek wisdom
Here, wisdom is personified. In verses 10 and 11, Wisdom raises her voice. ‘Receive my precepts, not gold. Receive knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than pearls, and no joy can compare with it.” The joy of wisdom is great. It is a satisfaction that gold and silver cannot provide.
In other words, there is knowledge to understand things well, and there is wisdom to think things through and make the right decisions. This means that they have the knowledge to understand things well and the discretion to think things through and make correct judgments, thereby protecting themselves from pride, arrogance, evil ways, and twisted words. Moreover, as verse 15 says, “By me kings shall reign and princes shall be justified. is not merely for personal gain, but for the public good.
Moreover, Wisdom speaks, v. 18: “Riches and honor are with me.” (v. 19). Indeed, as was the case with King Solomon of ancient Israel, who was said to be the wisest man in the world, if you love wisdom, prosperity, honor, and abundant wealth will follow (1 Kings 3).
How does wisdom produce this triple result of clarity, justice, and wealth? He who diligently seeks Me will find Me.” It is not difficult. It is simply a matter of loving wisdom, pursuing it, and searching for it diligently and steadily.
2. the origin of wisdom
Verse 22 tells us where to find wisdom. From verse 22, we are told that wisdom has been with God since ancient times, from the beginning of creation. Originally, this passage has been discussed as an explanation of the theodicy of the Trinity, especially the relationship between the Father and the Son. However, rather than developing such a theological argument, we would like to read the passage in its natural context as simply talking about the vein of wisdom, or the place where wisdom is to be found. Wisdom is produced by God (v. 24) and given to God, he said. After all, it is from above that inspiration is given and unexpected insights are given. The wisdom that really matters is that which seems to come down from heaven, a gift from God. Solomon, who was called the wise man, also asked God for wisdom and was given it. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Colossians, also tells us that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 1:15-17; 2:3). James also speaks. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously and without reproach to all, and he will receive” (James 1:15-17, 2:3). Ask, and it will be given to you” (James 1:4).
Since God is not preferential, He should do the same for us. What is important, therefore, is whether or not we will humbly admit our own lack of wisdom and ask God for it. We should ask God for wisdom that enriches our lives and gives light to the current reality of our society. I pray that today will be another good day.
