1．自業自得の結果
皆さんは、日々何を頼み、支えとして生きているでしょうか。このコロナ禍を通して、本当に頼むべきもの、支えとすべきものは何であると教えられたでしょうか。イザヤの時代、人々が頼みとしたものは、軍隊、裁判官、預言者、長老、法律家、占い師と様々でした。それは今日の人々も同じかもしれません。
さて1節、神は、人が頼りにする、そのようなものを除かれると言います。それは、まことの神を知るため、だれがあなたの本当のいのちの支え手であるかを悟らせるためである、と。そしてこの世には、人が本当に頼みとすべき、唯一まことの神がいることを知ろうとしないのなら、期待はずれのことが起こる、と言います。例えば、指導者を頼みにしても、神はその知恵ある指導者を取り去られる。そして気まぐれで、中身のない指導者に権力を握らせる、と言います（4節）。正義をないがしろにし、不法を行う者が政治を動かすようになる。その結果、国は混乱に陥り、支え手と頼った指導者に振り回される苦しみを味わうことになる。しかしそれは自業自得というべきものだ、というわけです（9節）。
では、その様な状況にもう救いはないのでしょうか。イザヤは言います。「正しい人は幸いだ、と言え。その人たちは自分の行いの実を食べる」（10節）私たちは一度歯車が狂ってしまえば、もう先はないと思ってしまうものでしょう。実際、どんなに自分の人生を修復しようとしても、益々坂を転げ落ちるのみで、回復の望みはどこにもないように思えてしまうところがあります。しかし、そのような絶望感にあっても、神を恐れ、正しき選択をするなら、そこには望みがあるのです。
2．まことに裁く神がおられる
問題は、まことに、貧しい者を顧み、不正を犯す者を裁く、神がおられることを信じるかどうかです（15節）。しかし多くの人にとっては目に見えないまことの神よりも、目に見える現実に、いかんともしがたい思いを抱くのみ、ということがあるでしょう。
イザヤは、神の言葉を伝えます。国が荒廃するのは、あなたがたの指導者の責任である、と。指導者は、国民のぶどう畑を野獣から守るべき職責にあるにもかかわらず、自らそのぶどう畑を食い荒らしている。神はその責任を問われる、と言います（14節）。
また、その無責任な指導者たちに囲われ、贅沢三昧に生きている金持ちの女たちをも、神は見過ごすことはない、と言います。彼女たちが、ネックレス、ブレスレット、香水など、どれほど身を飾りたて、美しく見せようとも、もはや男を引きつけることが出来ないような事態が起こる、と言います。彼女たちが、病に冒され、美しさを失い、夫も奪われ、ただ恥辱と屈辱に泣き伏すだけになる、と言います（16-26節）。
この世には、まことに正しいことをなさる神がおられる、あなたはそのことを信じることができるでしょうか。社会は、不条理に満ちていると思われても、その状況がいつまでも放置されることはありません。本当に頼みとすべきものを頼みとしていく、つまり生きておられる唯一まことの神がおられることを覚え、その神に立ち返り、神に頼んで、神の義に生きる歩みを大事にすべきだと言うのです。では今日も良き一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 3: It is the Invisible God We Must Rely on
1. self-inflicted consequences
What do you rely on for support in your daily lives? Through the Corona Disaster, have you been taught what you really need to ask for and what you should rely on for support? In Isaiah’s time, people relied on various sources, such as armies, judges, prophets, elders, lawyers, and fortune tellers. It may be the same for people today.
Now, verse 1 says that God removes such things on which people rely. He says that He does this so that you may know the true God and realize who is the true sustainer of your life. He also says that in this world, if one does not know that there is only one true God to whom one can truly turn, then disappointments will occur. For example, if one relies on a leader, God will take away that wise leader. Then, he says, he will let a capricious, insubstantial leader take power (v. 4). Those who neglect justice and do illegal things will run the government. As a result, the nation will be plunged into chaos and suffer the pain of being swept away by leaders who rely on them as their supporters. But that is what they deserve (v. 9).
So is there no salvation in such a situation? Isaiah says, “Blessed are the righteous,” he says. Say, “Blessed are the righteous, for they shall be called the children of Israel” (v. 10). Once we fall off the wagon, we may think there is no way out. In fact, no matter how much we try to fix our lives, it seems as if there is no hope for recovery, as we continue to fall further and further downhill. But even in such despair, if we fear God and make the right choices, there is hope.
2. there is a true God who judges
The question is whether or not we believe that there is indeed a God who cares for the poor and judges the unjust (v. 15). But for many, the reality of what they see is more overwhelming than the invisible God of truth.
Isaiah delivers the word of God. The desolation of the nations is the fault of your leaders. The leaders are charged with protecting the vineyard of the nation from wild beasts, yet they themselves are devouring the vineyard. God will hold them accountable, he says (v. 14).
He also says that God will not overlook the rich women who are surrounded by their irresponsible leaders and live in luxury. No matter how much they adorn themselves with necklaces, bracelets, perfume, etc., they will no longer be able to attract men. They will become ill, lose their beauty, have their husbands taken from them, and be left to weep in shame and humiliation (vv. 16-26).
Can you believe that there is a God who does what is right in the world? Society may seem to be full of absurdity, but it will not remain that way forever. We should remember that there is only one true and living God, and we should turn to Him, ask Him, and cherish our lives in His righteousness. I pray that you have a good day today.
