人生100倍の視野【聖書】イザヤ書31章　神の強さに目を留める

1．エジプトに頼る愚かさ

　1節、「ああ。助けを求めてエジプトに下る者たち。彼らは馬にたより、数が多いといって戦車に、非常に強いといって騎兵に寄り頼み、イスラエルの聖なる方に目を向けず、主を求めない。」とあります。これは、30章の繰り返しとなる預言です。イザヤがこの預言を語った時には、既に同盟を結ぶ話は、具体的なものとなっていたようです。ユダ南王国の使者たちが、エジプトに派遣され、もう直ぐ同盟が結ばれるということで、人々は、エジプトの強力な軍事力「馬、戦車、騎兵隊」の助けに期待しました。人々が安心したのは言うまでもありません。しかしイザヤは、そのような人間的なはかりごとがどんなに賢く見えようとも、それは無駄だ、と断言します。3節「エジプト人は人間であって神ではなく、彼らの馬も肉であって霊ではない。主が御手を伸ばされると、助ける者はつまずき、助けられる者は倒れて、皆ともに滅び果てる」（3節）と。

人は窮地に陥ったらどのようにするものでしょう。そこで、神に助けを求めるか、と言えば、そうでないことの方が多いのです。むしろ、結果の良しあしは別として、あらゆる策を講じるものでしょう。そして力ある人を頼って、何とか自分を立て直そうとするものでしょう。初めから神に助けを求めるとはならないものです。いや、神など頼ってもどうしようもない、万策尽きたと人生を諦めてしまう人もいるものでしょう。しかし、人に頼って失敗することがあっても、もう何も頼るものはないと人生諦めてはなりません。4節、イザヤは、神は、あなたにとって動じない獅子のごとし、と言います（4節）。何事があろうとも、神はご自分を信頼する者のために戦い、鳥のように高きところから飛来し、弱き者を救い出し、解放すると言うのです（5節）。

2．神のもとに帰れ

　既に前の30章でも、イザヤは言っています。もし、人が主に叫ぶなら、神はその声を聞いてくださる（19節）。もし人が難しい決断を迫られるなら、神がその良き道を教えてくださる（21節）。もし人が打たれ傷つくなら、神が癒してくださる（26節）。またあなたを打った者に立ち向かい、これを打ちのめしてくださる（29節）と。大切なのは、神がそのように約束されたことが真実であると信頼するかどうかです。あなたの人生に、そのように言ってくれた人にあなたは出会ったことがあるでしょうか？しかも本当に弱く、もう誰の目にも役に立たない、紙屑のように捨てられるような事態にあって。そこで、そんなのは嘘だと思わず、神のことばを信じていく、それが信仰です。そして、そこに人生は開けるのです。

世の中に神と名のつくものはたくさんあります。しかし、信じるに足る言葉を語ってくださる唯一まことの神は、聖書の神ただお一人です。人間が、銀や、金で鋳造した神はあてにはなりません。誰でもそんな簡単なことが分からないわけではないでしょう。だから、いざ窮地に立たせられれば、そんなあてにならない神など信じても、もう人生終わりだと思うのです。しかし、聖書が語る神は、目には見えませんが生きておられ、人とこの世界すべてをお造りになられた方です。その神が意思される時に、どん詰まりの人生においても道は開かれるのです。そしてその神が意思される時に、巨大な権力と思われるアッシリアも滅んでいくのです。まことの神を覚えて歩みたいものです。では今日も良き一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 31: Fixing Our Eyes on God’s Strength

1. the folly of relying on Egypt

　Verse 1, “Ah! They went down to Egypt to seek help. They rely on horses, on chariots because they are numerous, on cavalry because they are very strong; they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor do they seek Him. This is a repetition of chapter 30. This is a prophecy that is a repetition of chapter 30. It seems that when Isaiah spoke this prophecy, the talk of making an alliance was already concrete. Messengers from the southern kingdom of Judah had been dispatched to Egypt, and with an alliance soon to be formed, the people looked to Egypt’s powerful military force of “horses, chariots, and cavalry” for help. Needless to say, the people were relieved. But Isaiah assures them that no matter how wise such human measures may seem, they are futile, v. 3: “The Egyptians are men, not God, and their horses are flesh, not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, he who helps stumbles, and he who is helped falls, and they all perish together” (v. 3).

What do people do when they find themselves in a difficult situation? Do they turn to God for help? Rather, they will take every possible measure, whether the result is good or bad. They will try to get themselves back on their feet by relying on someone powerful. They will not ask for help from God from the beginning. Some people may give up on life, thinking that there is nothing they can do, that they have run out of options. In verse 4, Isaiah says that God is to you as a lion that does not move (v. 4). No matter what happens, he says, God fights for those who trust in him, and like a bird, he flies from on high to rescue and deliver the weak (v. 5).

2. return to God.

　Already in the previous 30 chapters, Isaiah says. If one cries out to the Lord, God will hear his voice (v. 19). If one is faced with a difficult decision, God will show him the good way (v. 21). If you are beaten and wounded, God heals you (v. 26). And he will confront the one who strikes you and strike him down (v. 29). The important thing is whether or not you trust that what God has promised is true. Have you ever met someone in your life who said that to you? And in a situation where you were really weak and no longer useful in anyone’s eyes and could be thrown away like a piece of paper. So, you don’t think that is a lie, but you believe the Word of God, and that is faith. And that is where life opens up.

There are many things in the world named God. But there is only one true God, the God of the Bible, who speaks words that we can believe in. We cannot rely on a God cast in silver or gold. It is not hard for anyone to understand such a simple fact. So, when you are in a tight situation, you may think that your life is over even if you believe in such an unreliable God. However, the God of whom the Bible speaks is invisible to the naked eye, but He is alive, and He is the creator of mankind and the entire world. When that God wills, a way is opened for us even in the midst of a dead-end life. And when God wills, Assyria, which seems to be a huge power, will be destroyed. Let us remember the true God and walk with Him. I pray that today will be another good day.
