1．キュロスの預言、終末の預言
44:28-45:13は、一般にペルシアの王キュロスについての預言として解釈されている部分です。具体的に、この預言をイザヤが語った時代よりも、130年も後の出来事を語っています。そこでまず、この預言が何を言おうとしているかに注目しましょう。
まず神は、キュロスを歴史の表舞台に登場させ、勝利を与え、イスラエル人を解放しエルサレムを再建しようと考えていたご自身の計画を実現させる、と言います。しかし神は、なぜ異教徒のキュロスを用いようとするのでしょう。バビロン捕囚からの解放を第二の出エジプトとするならば、そのリーダー、つまり第二のモーセもユダヤ人から起こされるべきではないかと思うところです。実際、ユダヤ人には納得のできない預言でした（9節）。しかし、イザヤは陶器と陶器師のたとえを用いて、それが神の御心でありご計画である、と強調するのです。神は創造主であり、ユダヤ人のみならず、全世界に自分の力を及ぼす主権者である、と（12節）。
ただ、キュロスは、確かに古代オリエント諸国を統一し、イスラエル人の祖国復帰を許し、そのイスラエル国の再建に手を貸しましたが、14節に描かれているように、古代エジプトを征服したことはありません。ですからここは、具体的な歴史に当てはめるよりも、一般的、終末的に解釈するのが本当ではないか、とも言われている箇所です。
2．自分を隠す神
15節、イザヤは、突如、神に対する自らの思いを語ります。「あなたはご自分を隠す神」宗教改革者マルチン・ルター以降、その真意を巡って様々な解釈が議論され続けて来たフレーズです。それは、神が、ご自身の意図を隠されて、物事の全体像を、そんなに直ぐには（イザヤの時代に）明らかにしようとされない、ということを語っているのか、それとも、神は聖霊によってのみ知られるお方であるから、罪人は聖霊の光がなければ、啓示された神の偉大な救いを理解することはできない、ということを語っているのか。他にも解釈しうるフレーズですが、とりあえず後者が妥当な解釈と言えるでしょう。ギリシア語の七十人訳では「あなたは神であられる。しかし私たちは知らない」と訳しています。つまり、ここに至るまでに繰り返されて来たことはまことの神ではない偶像を神として崇める人間の無知蒙昧ぶりです。14節、「神はただあなたのところにだけおられ、ほかにはなく、ほかに神々はない」18節「わたしは主。ほかにはいない」に挟まれて、イザヤの心には、まことの生ける救い主であり、創造主である神が意識されています。そして、すべてを明確に語られた神が意識されています。しかし、イスラエルの子らはこの方を知らない、知ろうともしない、そして偶像に走る、その悲劇が指摘されています。そこでイザヤは声を大にして言うのです。「地の果てのすべての者よ。わたしを仰ぎ見て救われよ。」と。生きたまことの神がおられることを宣言するのです。イギリスの説教家チャールズ・H・スポルジョンは、このことばによって信仰を持ったと言います。教会にこそまことの神がおられます。その神を求めることにしましょう。では今日も良き一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 45: I am God. There is no other God.
1. prophecy of Cyrus, prophecy of the end of time
44:28-45:13 is the portion generally interpreted as a prophecy about Cyrus, king of Persia. Specifically, it speaks of events 130 years after the time Isaiah spoke of this prophecy. So let us first note what this prophecy is trying to say.
First, God says that He will bring Cyrus to the forefront of history, give him victory, and fulfill His plan to free the Israelites and rebuild Jerusalem. But why would God want to use the pagan Cyrus? If the deliverance from the Babylonian captivity is to be a second exodus, one would think that its leader, the second Moses, should also be raised from the Jews. In fact, it was a prophecy that did not satisfy the Jews (v. 9). But Isaiah uses the parable of the potter and the potter to emphasize that it is God’s will and plan. God is the Creator and the Sovereign who exerts His power not only over the Jewish people but over the whole world (v. 12).
However, Cyrus did indeed unite the ancient Orient nations, allowed the Israelites to return to their homeland, and had a hand in rebuilding that nation of Israel, but he never conquered ancient Egypt, as depicted in verse 14. Therefore, it has been said that it is true that this is a passage that should be interpreted in a general, apocalyptic sense rather than applying it to specific history.
2. a god who hides himself
In verse 15, Isaiah suddenly speaks of his own feelings toward God. Since the time of the religious reformer Martin Luther, various interpretations of the phrase have been debated over its true meaning. Is it saying that God hides His intentions and does not reveal the whole picture so quickly (in Isaiah’s day), or is it saying that God is known only through the Holy Spirit, and sinners cannot understand the great salvation of God revealed to them without the light of the Holy Spirit? Is it speaking of the fact that the sinner cannot understand the great salvation of God revealed without the light of the Holy Spirit? The phrase could be interpreted in other ways, but for now the latter is a reasonable interpretation. The Greek translation of the Seventy says, “You are God. The Greek translation of the Seventy translates it as “You are God, but we do not know. In other words, what has been repeated up to this point is the ignorance of human beings who worship as gods idols that are not the true God. Sandwiched between “There is no other,” Isaiah’s mind is conscious of God, the true and living Savior and Creator. And he is conscious of the God who has clearly spoken all things. But the tragedy is pointed out that the children of Israel do not know Him, do not even try to know Him, and turn to idols. So Isaiah says aloud. O all the ends of the earth! Look to Me and be saved.” And Isaiah said, “Look unto me and be saved. He proclaims the presence of the living and true God. The English preacher Charles H. Spurgeon was brought to faith by these words. There is a living and true God in the Church. Let us seek that God. I pray that you have a good day today.
