おはようございます。私はコロナにかかり五日目、ようやく、起き上がれるようになりました。ブログの更新が、日中遅い時間になってしまい申し訳ございません。もうしばらくしたら、また通常に戻るかと思います。しかしそれにしても、コロナ、大変な病です。私も重症化リスク対象者ということで、ラゲ・ブリオなる薬を処方されました。ゆっくりとした快復の中、改めてコロナで苦しみ、不安の中にある方々を思い起こしました。病にある方々の快復を心よりお祈りいたします。では、継続は力です。今日も聖書を開いてまいりましょう。今日は53章からです。
1．しもべは誰か？
これまでの流れからすると、当時の読者は、アッシリア軍に攻め込まれる脅威の中にあってこの書を読んでいたと考えられます。実際イザヤが活動したのは、巨大なアッシリア軍の前で、無力な国であることを嘆くヒゼキヤ王の時代です。しかし、先の52章に続いてこの53章で語られている内容は、アッシリアの時代というよりもさらに後の時代について語っているようです。それはいつの時代のことなのか。一説に、バビロン帝国によって滅ぼされたユダ南王国の回復の時代のものだとされます。しかしながら、ここに登場する「しもべ」という人物を、具体的にユダ南王国を回復させたペルシアの王キュロスに当てはめて読んでいくのは、難しいものがあります。つまりこの個所も、バビロン帝国の時代よりもさらに先の時代、メシヤに関する預言として読んでいくのが正しいのでしょう。
2．しもべの特徴
実際、新約聖書には、この個所についての解き明かしがあります。使徒の働き8章ですが、そこには、エルサレム巡礼の帰り道、この箇所を読みながら理解できないでいたエチオピア人の宦官に対して、伝道者ピリポが近づいて解き明かしをしたエピソードが描かれています。そこでは、伝道者ピリポは、このしもべは、イエスのことに他ならないと説明しているのです。
注目すべきは、このしもべが、生きた人生とその目的です。彼は、蔑まれ、人々からのけ者にされ、尊ばれもしない、悲しみの人、つまり苦難のしもべでした（3節）。彼は病を負い、痛みを担い、虐待され、砕かれています。彼の心に欺きも、不法もないにも関わらず（9節）。多くの人々は彼を誤解していました。神に罰せられた人生を生きたのだ、と。しかし彼の苦しみの人生は、全人類に癒しと平和を与えるためのものでした。彼は確かに神に罰せられたのですが、それは全人類の身代わりの苦難であり、神が御計画したことでした（10節）。それは、まさに使徒ピリポが解説したとおり、2000年前、十字架上で人類の罪の赦しのために死んだイエスの生涯そのものです。バビロンの捕囚からユダヤ人を解放したキュロスのことではありません。こうしてエチオピア人の宦官は、イエスを自分の救い主であると受け入れていくのです。そして、実際のところ、この苦難のしもべは、私たちの罪の赦しのために死んでくださったイエスのことであると語り掛けていることに注意すべきです。
3．しもべの勝利
10節以降、しもべの歌は、しもべが多くの苦しみを経ながらも満足しているとしています。苦難のしもべは満足のしもべとして描かれている。彼は苦難を受けながらも、確信をもってその時を過ごし、なすべきことを成し遂げたからです。学ぶところです。人は苦難に合うと、何とかこの時が早く過ぎてしまえばよいと願ったり、慌てふためいて、もともこうもない生き方をしてしまうことがあるものでしょう。しかし、世の荒波に揉みくちゃにされながらも、しっかり神に心を守られて平安の内に生きることも人間にはできるということでしょう。信仰の強さがそこにあるのです。いかなる苦難にあっても、苦難は一時、苦難の後の勝利を覚えて、もくもくと歩む信仰者の力強さを味わいたいものです。では今日も良き一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 53: Suffering Servant
Good morning. I am on my fifth day of corona and finally, I am able to get up. I apologize for the late hour during the day for updating the blog. I think I will be back to normal in a little while. But still, corona is a serious disease. I was also prescribed a drug called Lage Brio, as I am a severe risk subject. In the midst of my slow recovery, I was reminded once again of those who are suffering from corona and are anxious. I sincerely pray for the recovery of those who are ill. Continuation is power. Let us open our Bibles again today. Today we will start from chapter 53.
1. Who are the servants?
From the previous sections, we can assume that the readers at that time were reading this book under the threat of being invaded by the Assyrian army. In fact, Isaiah was active during the reign of King Hezekiah, who lamented the fact that he was a helpless nation in the face of a huge Assyrian army. But what is being said in this 53rd chapter, following the earlier 52nd, seems to speak of a time even later than the time of Assyria. When does it refer to this period? One theory is that it is from the period of the restoration of the southern kingdom of Judah, which had been destroyed by the Babylonian Empire. However, it is difficult to read the character of the “servant” here as specifically referring to Cyrus, the king of Persia who restored the southern kingdom of Judah. In other words, it would be correct to read this passage as a prophecy about the Messiah in a period that predates the Babylonian Empire.
2. Characteristics of the Servant
In fact, the New Testament has a clarification of this passage. In Acts 8, there is an episode in which the evangelist Philip approached the Ethiopian eunuch on his way back from a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, who was reading this passage but did not understand it, and gave him a clarification. There, the evangelist Philip explains that this servant is none other than Jesus.
What is remarkable is the life this servant lived and his purpose. He was a man of sorrows, a suffering servant, despised, ostracized, and not respected (v. 3). He is sick, pain-bearing, abused, and crushed. Even though there was no deceit or wrongdoing in his heart (v. 9). Many people misunderstood him. He lived a life punished by God. But his life of suffering was meant to bring healing and peace to all mankind. He was indeed punished by God, but it was God’s substitutionary suffering for all mankind, and it was God’s plan (v. 10). It is precisely the life of Jesus who died for the forgiveness of mankind’s sins on the cross 2000 years ago, as the apostle Philip explained. It was not Cyrus who freed the Jews from the Babylonian captivity. This is how the Ethiopian eunuch comes to accept Jesus as his Savior. And it should be noted that, in fact, the Suffering Servant is speaking to us of Jesus who died for the forgiveness of our sins.
3. the victory of the servant
From verse 10 onward, the servant’s song states that the servant is satisfied even though he has gone through much suffering. The suffering servant is portrayed as a satisfied servant. For though he suffered, he went through his time with conviction and accomplished what needed to be done. The lesson to be learned. When we suffer hardships, we sometimes wish that the time would pass quickly, or we sometimes live in a panic and live in a way that is not the way we should have lived in the first place. However, it is also possible for human beings to live in peace, protected by God, even while being tossed about by the stormy seas of the world. This is where the strength of faith lies. No matter what hardships we face, let us remember that hardship is temporary and that victory comes after hardship, and let us savor the strength of the faithful as they walk on. I pray that today will be another good day.
