1．神さまの約束が本当に実現した（1〜24節）
ヨシュア記12章には、イスラエルの人々がカナンの地をどのように征服したかが記されています。前半（1〜6節）では、モーセがヨルダン川の東側で勝ち取った土地について書かれています。ここは、ルベン族、ガド族、そしてマナセ族の一部が住むことになった場所です（民数記32章参照）。
後半（7〜24節）では、ヨシュアがヨルダン川の西側で征服した31の王国の名前が挙げられています。占領地は、南の砂漠から北の丘陵（きゅうりょう）、地中海沿岸からヨルダン渓谷まで広がっています。たくさんの地名が並んでいるため、少し退屈に感じるかもしれません。しかし、これは単なる地理のリストではありません。
このリストは、「神さまがアブラハムに約束された土地が、本当に与えられた」ということを証明しています（創世記15章、申命記7章参照）。つまり、神さまの約束はただの言葉ではなく、実際に歴史の中で実現したのです。
2．私たちが征服すべきものとは？
この章に出てくる「征服」は土地の話ですが、新約聖書では、パウロが「私たち自身の中にある罪と戦うこと」も征服だと教えています（コロサイ2:10,15参照）。
たとえば、私たちの心の中には、ねたみや怒り、自己中心といった、神さまから離れた思いがあります。イエス・キリストを信じるとき、私たちはそのような心を少しずつ変えていくことができます。
また、エペソ人への手紙6章には「神の武具を身につけて、悪に立ち向かいなさい」と書かれています。つまり、信仰を持って自分の中の悪い部分と向き合い、神さまの助けを受けながら変えられていくのです。
3．神さまの力と、私たちの応答
ヨシュア記12章は、神さまが与えてくださった勝利の記録です。しかし、それはイスラエルの人々が神さまの言葉に従ったからこそ実現しました。
聖書は、神さまの力（主権）と人間の応答（責任）の両方を大切にしています。神さまはすべてを支配しておられますが、同時に私たちが神の御計画に従うことも求めておられます（ピリピ2:12–13参照）。
4．今、私たちが征服すべきもの
今の時代、私たちが征服すべき「土地」は、他の国や人ではありません。まずは、自分の心の中です。
たとえば、神さまの愛を知らなかった目が、神の恵みを見る目に変えられること。悪いことをしていた手が、良いことをする手に変わること。怒りやねたみに満ちていた心が、神の愛とやさしさで満たされていくことです。
このようにして、私たち自身が「キリストにあって新しくされた者」となるとき、まわりの人たちにも良い影響が広がっていきます。貧しい人や傷ついた人が助けられるような、神の国の広がりが始まるのです。
結び：あなたの「征服すべき地」はどこですか？
ヨシュア記12章は、ただの地名リストではありません。それは、神さまの約束がどのように実現したかを記録した、信仰の証しです。
そして今、私たちにも「征服すべき領域」が与えられています。それは、自分の心や生活の中にある、神さまのものとすべき場所です。
あなたの「エリコ」や「メギド」は何でしょうか？それは、ねたみかもしれませんし、怒りや自分を責める思いかもしれません。
神さまは、あなたがその場所を取り戻すことを助けてくださいます。今日もまた、神さまの導きに信頼して、一歩ずつ歩んでいきましょう。

Joshua 12: A Record of Victory and a Life of Faith
1. God’s Promise Really Came True (Verses 1–24)
Joshua chapter 12 tells us how the people of Israel took the land of Canaan. In the first part (verses 1–6), it talks about the land east of the Jordan River. Moses helped the people win that land. The tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh lived there (see Numbers 32).
In the second part (verses 7–24), it lists 31 kings that Joshua and the Israelites defeated west of the Jordan River. These cities were in the south, north, along the coast, and near the Jordan Valley. It may feel boring to read so many names, but this list is very important.
Why? Because it shows that God’s promise to Abraham really came true (see Genesis 15 and Deuteronomy 7). God said He would give this land to His people—and He did. His promise was not just words. It became real in history.
2. What Should We “Conquer” Today?
In this chapter, Israel conquered land. But in the New Testament, Paul teaches that we also have something to conquer: the sin inside us (see Colossians 2:10,15).
We all have things in our hearts like jealousy, anger, or selfishness. But when we believe in Jesus, He helps us change. Slowly, we can become more like Him.
Ephesians 6 says we should “put on the armor of God” and fight against evil. This means we face our own weaknesses with faith and ask God to help us grow.
3. God’s Power and Our Response
Joshua 12 is a record of victories. But those victories happened because the people obeyed God. God gave the power, but the people had to follow His commands.
The Bible teaches both God’s power (His sovereignty) and our responsibility. God leads, but He also wants us to walk with Him (see Philippians 2:12–13).
4. What Should We Conquer in Our Lives?
Today, we don’t fight for land. Instead, we look at our own hearts.
Maybe we used to look at life without knowing God’s love. But now, we can learn to see with eyes of grace. Maybe our hands used to do wrong. Now, they can do good. Maybe our hearts were full of anger or jealousy. But now, God can fill them with love and kindness.
When we change, the world around us can change too. People who are poor or hurting can find hope. This is how God’s kingdom grows.
Final Thought: What Is Your “Land to Conquer”?
Joshua 12 is not just a list of cities. It is a testimony of how God’s promise came true.
And today, God gives us new areas to grow in. Maybe your “Jericho” is jealousy. Maybe your “Megiddo” is fear or guilt. Whatever it is, God can help you take it back.
