士師記14章には、サムソンという人物の結婚について書かれています。この物語は、単なる昔話ではありません。現代を生きる私たちにも関係する大切なテーマが含まれています。たとえば、「信仰と人生の選び方」「神さまのご計画」「教会の役割」などです。この章を読むことで、「信仰を持って生きるとはどういうことか？」について考えるヒントが得られます。
2．サムソンの結婚 ― 信仰と価値観が合うことの大切さ
テイムナという町は、もともとゼブルン部族のもので、メラリ系レビ人の町でした（ヨシュア21:35）。しかし、サムソンの時代にはペリシテ人の町となっていました。サムソンはその町でペリシテ人の女性に出会い、結婚したいと考えます。しかし、彼の両親は反対しました。なぜなら、神さまはイスラエルの人々に他民族との結婚を禁じていたからです（申命記7:3–4）。
さらに、サムソンは「ナジル人」と呼ばれ、特別に神さまにささげられた人でした。それにもかかわらず、彼は自分の気持ちを優先してしまいます。
この話、どこかで聞いたことがあるように感じませんか？たとえば、クリスチャンが異なる信仰を持つ人と結婚しようとする時、価値観の違いから課題が生じることがあります。日本では宗教の違いをあまり気にしない人も多いかもしれませんが、信仰は「人生の考え方」や「価値観」と深く結びついています。
たとえば、日曜日に礼拝に行きたい方と、家族でレジャーに出かけたい方が一緒に暮らすと、次第に考え方の違いが見えてきます。また、「死んだら天国に行ける」と信じている方と、「死んだらすべて終わり」と考える方が共に生きると、人生の目的も異なってきます。家庭において信仰の一致は、平和を保つためにとても大切な要素です。信仰が同じであることは、結婚による幸せをより強くするのではないでしょうか（2コリント6:14）。
3．神の主権 ― 神さまは人間の失敗も用いられる
士師記14章4節には「これは主から出たことである」と書かれています。驚く方もいるかもしれません。神さまは、サムソンの結婚を望んでいたのでしょうか。そう思うかもしれませんが、そうではありません。ここで伝えられていることは、「神さまは人間の失敗も含めて、ご自分の目的を進められる」ということです。
つまり、私たちが間違った選択をしてしまっても、神さまは私たちを見捨てず、その中からも良いことを生み出してくださいます。
4．教会の役割 ― 支え合う家族のように
もし、信仰の違う人と結婚し、後で困難に直面している人がいたら、教会はどうすればよいでしょうか。その人を責めたり裁いたりするのではなく、むしろ「一緒に悩みを分かち合い、支え合う家族」のような存在になりたいものです。
教会は「回復の共同体」です。つまり、一緒にやり直そうと声をかけ合う場所です。失敗した人を受け入れ、支え合い、共に考え、勇気づける場なのです。
5．礼拝の意義 ― 神さまとの出会いの場
人生で失敗したり、つらいことがあったりしたとき、礼拝はとても大切な場所になります。教会は神の愛に出会う場所です。それは、礼拝を通して体験できることでもあります。礼拝の中で神さまの語りかけを受け、もう一度立ち上がる力をもらえるのです。
だからこそ、教会は誰からも礼拝の場を奪ってはいけません。人間的な言葉で励ますことも大切ですが、礼拝へ招き、「神さまの霊がその人に強く働くように」と祈り合うことが、教会の大切な使命の一つです。
6．結論 ― 神の祝福を選び取る人生へ
神さまは、私たちの過去の失敗も覚えていてくださいます。そして、そこから新しい人生へと導いてくださるのです。「神は失われた年月を回復される」お方です（ヨエル書2:25）。ですから、今日も神さまの祝福を選び取りましょう。信仰に立ち返り、神さまの導きに応えて歩む一日を過ごしましょう。あなたの家庭、教会、学校、職場、そして近隣に、神の祝福が満ちあふれますように。では、また明日。

2. Samson’s Marriage – The Importance of Shared Faith and Values
Timnah was originally a town given to the tribe of Zebulun and the Levites (Joshua 21:35).
But in Samson’s time, it was controlled by the Philistines.
Samson saw a Philistine woman there and wanted to marry her.
His parents disagreed, because God had told the Israelites not to marry people from other nations (Deuteronomy 7:3–4).
Also, Samson was a Nazirite—someone specially dedicated to God.
Even so, he followed his own feelings instead of God’s instructions.
This story may sound familiar.
Today, some Christians also face challenges when they want to marry someone who does not share their faith.
In Japan, many people don’t think religion is important in marriage.
But faith is deeply connected to how we think and live.
For example:
One person wants to go to church on Sunday.
The other wants to spend time with family on a trip.
One believes in heaven after death.
The other believes this life is all there is.
These differences can cause stress in daily life.
That’s why having the same faith can help build peace and unity in marriage.
As the Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:14, it is important to be “equally yoked” in faith.
3. God’s Sovereignty – God Can Use Even Our Mistakes
In Judges 14:4, it says, “This was from the Lord.”
This may sound surprising.
Did God want Samson to marry a Philistine?
Actually, no.
This verse means that God can use even our wrong choices to carry out His plan.
Sometimes we make mistakes.
But God does not leave us.
He can still bring good things out of our failures.
This gives us hope.
Even when we feel we have failed, God is still working in our lives.
4. The Role of the Church – A Family That Supports Each Other
What should the church do when someone marries a person with a different faith and later faces difficulties?
The church should not judge or reject that person.
Instead, the church should be like a family—sharing the pain, listening, and walking together.
The church is a place of healing and support.
It is where we say, “Let’s start again together.”
We help each other, encourage each other, and grow together in faith.
5. The Meaning of Worship – A Place to Meet God Again
When we go through hard times or make mistakes, worship becomes very important.
Worship is where we meet God again.
It is where we hear His voice and receive strength to stand up again.
That’s why the church must never take worship away from anyone.
Encouraging words are helpful, but even more important is inviting people to worship.
There, we can pray together and ask God’s Spirit to work powerfully in their lives.
6. Conclusion – Choosing God’s Blessing in Our Lives
God remembers even our past mistakes.
And He leads us to a new beginning.
The Bible says in Joel 2:25, “God will restore the years the locusts have eaten.”
This means that even if we feel we have lost time or made wrong choices, God can restore and renew our lives.
So today, let us choose God’s blessing.
Let us return to faith and walk with Him again.
