皆さんは、「自分がそう思えば、それが正しい」と考えたことはありませんか。士師記17章には、「イスラエルには王がなく、めいめいが自分の目に正しいと見えることを行っていた」と記されています。

2．ミカと母親のエピソード：信仰の形だけが残る危うさ
最初のエピソードでは、ミカが母親のお金を盗みます。母親は最初、呪いをかけますが、犯人が息子だとわかると、呪いを取り消して祝福を祈ります。その後、返された銀で偶像を作るという行動に移ります。
ここには、神を本当に畏れる心は見られず、ただ宗教的な形式だけが残っています。神の主権を認め、神の言葉に従う生き方はありません。ミカと母親は、自分たちの都合や関心に合わせて、好きなように神を利用しているのです。
3．レビ人の若者の登場：形式だけの信仰の危うさ
次の7～13節では、ミカが自分の家に神殿と偶像を作り、息子を祭司の代わりにしています。そこへレビ人の若者が現れると、ミカは彼を祭司として迎え入れます。ミカは「レビ人を祭司に得たから、主が私を幸せにしてくださる」と言いました（13節）。
レビ人は確かに神に仕える特別な部族ですが、重要なのは「どんなレビ人か」という点です。次の18章では、ミカが形式や肩書きに頼ったことの浅はかさを思い知らされます。
また、イスラエルの信仰は神との「契約関係」に基づいています。それは、神の言葉に耳を傾け、日々従うことで築かれる関係です。「通うべき場所がある」「拝むべき像がある」「話を聞ける祭司がいる」だけでは、本当の信仰の歩みは生まれません。本当の信仰とは、「共にいてくださる神と日々心を通わせて生きていくこと」です。そこにこそ、信仰の祝福があります。
4．現代への示唆：ご利益信仰と本来の信仰の違い
このような自己流の信仰は、現代にも見られます。「家内安全」「商売繁盛」「無病息災」など、目に見える安心だけを求める信仰は、聖書の教えとは異なります。
また、聖書を読まず、内容を理解しないまま、形式的な礼拝や祈りだけを続ける信仰は、霊的な成長を妨げます。こうした背景には、聖書教育の不足や「神頼み」といった文化的な習慣もあるでしょう。しかし、神はみ言葉を通して、私たちにご自身を示してくださいます。信仰は、神との関係を深めることから始まるのです。
5．結論：自己流信仰から脱却し、聖書に基づく歩みへ
士師記17章は、自己流の信仰の危うさと、絶対的な基準を失った時代の問題を私たちに問いかけています。私たちは、互いに聖書から学び合い、祈り合い、神の言葉に根ざした信仰を育てていく必要があります。

The Danger of DIY Faith and the Call to Walk by God’s Word
1. Introduction: Why Is “Doing What Seems Right to Me” a Problem?
Have you ever thought, “If I think it’s right, then it must be right”?
Judges 17 says, “In those days Israel had no king, and everyone did what was right in their own eyes.”
This shows a time when people lost God’s teaching as the standard. They followed only their own ideas.
Even today, many people think this way. But true faith does not begin with our own thoughts—it begins by listening to God’s Word.
2. Micah and His Mother: The Danger of Empty Religious Forms
In the first story, Micah steals money from his mother.
She first curses the thief, but when she finds out it was her son, she blesses him instead.
Then she uses the silver to make an idol.
There is no real fear of God here—only religious actions.
Micah and his mother use religion for their own benefit.
They do not follow God’s Word or recognize His authority.
3. The Young Levite: The Risk of Faith Based Only on Form
In verses 7–13, Micah builds a shrine and makes his son a priest.
Then a young Levite comes, and Micah hires him as a priest.
Micah says, “Now the Lord will bless me, because I have a Levite as priest.”
Levites were chosen to serve God, but what matters is which Levite and how he serves.
In chapter 18, Micah learns that trusting in titles and forms is not enough.
True faith in Israel was based on a covenant relationship with God—listening to His Word and obeying daily.
Having a shrine, an idol, or a priest is not enough.
Real faith means walking with God and sharing your heart with Him. That is where blessing comes.
4. A Message for Today: The Difference Between True Faith and “Bless-Me” Religion
This kind of self-made faith is common today.
People pray for safety, success, or health—but only for personal comfort.
Also, some people go to worship or pray without reading or understanding the Bible.
This stops spiritual growth.
The reason may be lack of Bible teaching or cultural habits like “just asking God for help.”
But God shows Himself through His Word.
Faith begins by growing in relationship with Him.
5. Conclusion: From DIY Faith to a Life Based on Scripture
Judges 17 warns us about the danger of self-made religion and losing God’s standard.
We need to learn from the Bible, pray together, and grow in faith based on God’s Word.
For example, reading the Bible in small groups or daily devotions helps us walk with God.
