1．ダビデの逃避行の意味
ダビデはサウル王に命を狙われ、逃げるしかありませんでした。しかし、これは単なる「逃げ」ではありません。王としての人格を磨くための時間でもあったのです。信仰を持つ人にとって、困難は「神とどう向き合うか」を問われる場面です。この章は、そのことを私たちに教えています。
2．祭司アヒメレクとの出会い
ダビデは食べ物も武器も持たず、追い詰められて祭司アヒメレクのもとを訪れます。そこで彼は命を守るために嘘をつきました。しかし、聖書は「嘘をついてもよい」とは言っていません。後になってダビデは自分の行動を後悔し（22:22）、詩篇34篇で「あなたの舌に悪口を言わせず、唇に欺きを語らせるな（13節）」と語っています。つまり、ダビデは失敗を通して「正直であることの大切さ」を学んだのです。
また、アヒメレクは祭司しか食べられない聖なるパンをダビデに与えました。これは、命を守るために儀式よりもあわれみを優先した行動です。イエスもこの話を引用し、「安息日でも（安息日の規定に縛られることなく）人を助けることは正しい」と教えています（マタイ12:3-7）。このことから、神は規則よりも人の命を大切にされる方だとわかります。
3．ドエグの存在と神の支配
このとき、エドム人ドエグもその場にいました。「主の前に引き止められていた」と書かれており、これは偶然ではなく、神の支配の中で起きた出来事です。ただし、これは「神が悪を望んだ」という意味ではありません。後にドエグはサウルに告げ口し、祭司の町ノブで虐殺が起こります（22章）。詩篇52篇でダビデは「神がドエグを裁かれる」と語っています。神は悪を一時的に許すことがあっても、最終的には正義を行う方です。ダビデは、正しいことをなさる神を信じ、「私は神の恵みにより頼む」と歌いました。
4．ガテでの苦難と心の葛藤
ダビデはペリシテ人の町ガテに逃げますが、すぐに正体が知られてしまいます。ガテの王アキシュの家来たちはダビデを「あの国の王」と呼びました。ダビデは命を守るため、正気を失ったふりをします。どれほど追い詰められていたかが伝わってきます。しかし、その絶望の中で、ダビデは神に近づきました。詩篇34篇には「主は心の打ち砕かれた者の近くにおられる」とあります。神は、弱さの中にいる人に寄り添う方なのです。
5．苦難と希望
信仰を持つ人にも試練はあります。神の約束が遠く感じることもあるでしょう。しかし、イエスも同じ道を通られました。十字架という極限の苦しみの中で、父なる神に信頼し、すべてを委ねられたのです。詩篇34篇の「正しい人には苦しみが多い。しかし主はそのすべてから救い出す」という言葉は、イエスによって確かなものとなりました。
6．今日へのメッセージ
「もうだめだ」と思うときでも、慌てる必要はありません。神はすぐに劇的な助けをくださらないかもしれませんが、ぎりぎりのところで守ってくださることがあります。だから、希望を捨てないでください。詩篇34篇の祈りを声に出し、真実と知恵をもって危機を乗り越えていきましょう。いのちがある限り、希望は失われません。
また、教会や社会でも、あわれみが儀式よりも大切であることを忘れないでください。悪に悪を返さず、愛を選ぶこと。それが希望の光です。今日も神の守りと祝福がありますように。それでは、また明日。
Season 6: 1 Samuel 21 – David on the Run
1. The Meaning of David’s Escape
David was running for his life from King Saul. But this was not just “running away.” It was a time for God to shape his character as a future king. For believers, hard times are moments that ask, “How will you face God now?” This chapter teaches us that truth.
2. Meeting the Priest Ahimelek
David came to Ahimelek with no food or weapons. To survive, he told a lie. The Bible does not say lying is right. Later, David regretted it (22:22) and wrote in Psalm 34: “Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies” (v.13). He learned the value of honesty through failure.
Ahimelek gave David the holy bread, which was normally for priests only. This act showed mercy over ritual. Jesus later quoted this story, teaching that helping people is more important than strict rules (Matthew 12:3–7). God values life more than regulations.
3. Doeg’s Presence and God’s Control
Doeg the Edomite was there too. The text says he was “detained before the Lord,” showing this was not random. Later, Doeg reported to Saul, leading to the massacre at Nob (ch.22). Psalm 52 says God will judge Doeg. God may allow evil for a time, but He will bring justice. David trusted this and said, “I trust in God’s unfailing love.”
4. Trouble in Gath and Inner Struggle
David fled to Gath, but his identity was discovered. The servants called him “the king of the land.” To save his life, David pretended to be insane. This shows how desperate he was. Yet in that brokenness, David drew near to God. Psalm 34 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted.” God stays near to those in weakness.
5. Suffering and Hope
Believers also face trials. God’s promises can feel far away. But Jesus walked this path too. On the cross, He trusted the Father completely. Psalm 34 says, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.” This is fulfilled in Christ.
6. A Message for Today
Even when you feel, “It’s over,” don’t panic. God may not act dramatically right away, but He can protect you at the last moment. So, don’t lose hope. Pray Psalm 34 aloud. Face crises with truth and wisdom. As long as there is life, there is hope.
