1. マタイの強調
マタイは、この27章の後半から28章にかけて、技巧的な書き方をしています。専門用語を使うと、キアスムス、つまり交差配列法を用いているのです。それはあることばや思想を強調するために、それらを中心に、文章を対称的な構造に書いていくものです。具体的に、わかりやすく、その個所を構造的に示してみましょう。こうなります。
27:57-61：イエスが死んで葬られる（イエスの完全な死）
27:62-66 番兵が配備される（イエスの死についての対応）
28:1-10 空の墓と、イエスの復活

マタイが注目してもらいたいのは、イエスの復活を語る28:1-20です。そこがこの段落全体で強調したいことなのです。つまり、マタイは、旧約聖書の預言の成就を確認する形で、自分の福音書を書き進めて来たのですが、その最後に最も読者に訴えたかったことは、イエスが復活した事実なのです。
2．復活したイエス（28:1-15）
では、その復活について、見てみましょう。安息日が終わった週の初めの日の明け方です。女たちが墓を訪れました。マタイは、ルカのように、この女たちが香料を準備し、手にしていたとは書いていません。しかし、明らかにこの女たちは、十字架の死後、安息日が始まるというので急いで葬られたイエスを、もう一度丁寧に葬りなおそうとして来たのです。彼女たちは、イエスが死んだことを疑わなかったのです。ところが、彼女たちは、イエスの墓の前で御使いを目撃し、イエスが復活したことを知らされます。そして、それを弟子たちに伝えようとした矢先に、復活したイエス本人とばったり出くわすわけです。
大切なのは、復活したイエスが先に進んでいくことです。イエスは「ガリラヤへ行くように」と指示を出し、ご自分は弟子を待たずに先へ進むのです。全てはイエスが告げられた予定通りに動いているという書き方です。イエスにとって十字架も、復活も、銀貨30枚で引き受けた仕事もすべ順調に進んでいる、私は御先に失礼！というわけです。
3．イエスの命令（28:16-20）
そしてマタイは、イエスの本当に最後のことばを記録しました。それは、イエスが「すべての権威」を持つこと、つまり地上のどの権威にも優る万物の支配者であることを明言するものです。このことばに私たちは、弟子たちのように礼拝するか、あるいは、疑うか、態度を決めさせられるのです。イエスはもはや死んでしまった過去の人ではなく、復活し、今なお生きて、この万物を支配しておられるまことの神の子！マタイは、言います。
また、主イエスを受け入れ従おうとする者には、その決意のほどを示すバプテスマが必要と言います。腹を決めなさいと言います。
さらに、信仰の修練に身を投じなさいと言います。イエスの信仰、十字架愛、またその誠実さや聖さに倣おうとするなら、今の生活の延長で身に付くはずがないのです。信仰は修練ではありませんが、修練をする心、姿勢なくして、その歩みを進めることはできません。山上の説教を読み返したいところです。イエスのいのちに生きようとするのなら、そのようなふりをする人生ではなく、しっかりその信仰に生きるべきでしょう。イエスはご自分に従う者に約束されます。20節「見よ。わたしは世の終わりまで、いつもあなたがたとともにいます」イエスは、全面的な支援を約束しているのです。安心してイエスに従って、成長していく歩みを踏み出したいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。
Matthew 28: We Will Be Together Until the End of the World
1. emphasis in Matthew
Matthew uses a technical writing style in the latter part of this chapter 27 and throughout chapter 28. To use a technical term, he uses the chiasmus, or cross-arrangement method. It is a way of emphasizing certain words or ideas by writing the text in a symmetrical structure around them. Let me show you a concrete, easy-to-understand, structural representation of the passage. It will look like this.
27:57-61: Jesus dies and is buried (Jesus’ total death)
27:62-66: The Guard is deployed (response to Jesus’ death)
28:1-10: The empty tomb and the resurrection of Jesus
28:11-15 Watchmen report (response to empty tomb)
28:16-20 Jesus’ sovereignty and eternal reign (manifestation of Jesus’ resurrection)
What Matthew wants us to focus on is 28:1-20, which speaks of Jesus’ resurrection. That is what he wants to emphasize in this entire paragraph. In other words, Matthew has written his Gospel in a way that confirms the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, but what he most wanted to emphasize to his readers at the end is the fact of Jesus’ resurrection.
2. the resurrected Jesus (28:1-15)
Now let us look at that resurrection. It is dawn on the first day of the week after the Sabbath. Women visited the tomb. Matthew does not say, as Luke does, that these women had the perfume ready and in their hands. But clearly these women came to carefully re-bury Jesus, who had been hastily buried after his death on the cross because the Sabbath was about to begin. They did not doubt that Jesus was dead. However, they witnessed an angel in front of Jesus’ tomb and were informed that Jesus had risen. Just as they were about to tell the disciples, they bumped into the resurrected Jesus himself.
What is important is that the resurrected Jesus goes on ahead. He tells them to go to Galilee, and then he goes on without waiting for the disciples. It is a way of writing that everything is moving according to the schedule that Jesus announced. For Jesus, the cross, the resurrection, and the job he accepted for 30 pieces of silver are all going smoothly! I’ll leave you to it!
3. the command of Jesus (28:16-20)
Matthew recorded Jesus’ very last words. Matthew then records Jesus’ very last words, in which He declares that He has “all authority,” that is, He is the ruler of all things, above all earthly authorities. These words force us to decide our attitude, whether to worship like the disciples or to doubt. Jesus is no longer a man of the past who has died, but the true Son of God who has risen and still lives and rules over all things! Matthew says.
He also says that those who accept and follow the Lord Jesus need baptism to show the extent of their commitment. He tells them to make up their minds.
He also tells us to put ourselves into the discipline of faith. If you want to imitate the faith of Jesus, his love of the cross, his sincerity, and his holiness, you can’t do it in the extension of your current life. Faith is not a discipline, but without the heart and attitude to practice it, we cannot make progress in it. I would like to reread the Sermon on the Mount. If we are going to live the life of Jesus, we should live that faith firmly, not a life of pretending to do so. Jesus promises those who follow Him, v. 20: “Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. I am with you always, even to the end of the world,” Jesus promises his full support.
