1神の御教えに生きる1-8節）
イスラエルの民は、40年間荒野を旅してきました。今、彼らは約束の地のすぐ手前、モアブの野に立ち止まっています（民数記16:1-35）。そこで神は、彼らにご自分の命令を守るように語られます。
注目すべきは、7節、「これら主がなさった偉大なみわざのすべてを自分の目で見たのは、あなたがたである。」ということばです。ここで言う「あなたがた」とは誰のことでしょう。荒野の旅は約40年、となればそれは、神の偉大な御業を直接目撃した人々と、荒野で生まれ、その教えを受け継いだ新しい世代であったと思われます。神はその世代の人々に命令を守るように語り（8節）、さらに次の世代の子どもたちに教えることを命じています（19節）。
神のみ教えに従っていくならば、あなたがたは強くなる、そして所有しようとしている地を所有することができると言います。神の命令を守ることが祝福を受ける鍵なのです。信仰は一瞬の決断ではなく、継続するものだと言うことを示しています。
私たちも、ただ「信じる」だけではなく、神の教えを実行し、次世代に伝えていくことが求められています。パウロは、テモテに「あなたがたが聞いたことを忠実な人々に教えなさい」と（２テモテ2:2）語りました。信仰を持って終わりなのではなく、次の世代に信仰を引き継いでいくことが大切です。
2．神、主を愛し、仕える（9-25節）
さてイスラエルの民が出てきたエジプトと約束の地の違いが語られます（10-11節）。
エジプトの地は、雨が少なかったので、ナイル川の水を畑まで灌漑する用水路が作られていました。そして彼らは、その用水路から畑に水を引き込むために、足で水車を回していたのです。つまり、文字通り自分の足で水をやらなければなりませんでした。
しかし約束の地では、天からの雨で潤されると言われています。これは、神の祝福による実りを象徴しています。
これは、私たちの人生にも当てはまることです。私たちは何事も努力が必要だと思いがちです。しかし時には、神の恵みが私たちの努力以上の実りを生み出すことがあるのです。そこでモーセは命じます。神の命令に従い（13節）、正しい道に留まり続け（16節）、次世代に教えなさい（19節）、と。そのための具体的な方法も指示されています（18-20節）。信仰の歩みは、具体的な行動を伴うものです。教会出席、祈祷会、聖書を読む習慣などを続けることが、信仰を強めるのです。
3．祝福とのろい、決断と選択への召し（26-32節）
モーセは、イスラエルの民に「あなたたちは祝福か呪いか、どちらを選ぶのか？と問いかけます（27節）この場面では、ゲリジム山に（祝福）とエバル山に（呪い）が出てきます。ゲリジム山は、イスラエルの民にとって、シェケムの聖所の右側にあり、エバル山は左側にありました。東を向いて右は南側、左は北側。右は優位な地、祝福と考え、左（北方）はその反対と考えたのでしょう。
この儀式は、申命記27:11-26で詳しく書かれており、ヨシュア記8:30-35で実際に行われた記録があります。興味深いのは、右側（南）＝祝福、左側（北）＝呪いという二者択一の考え方です。中間はないのです。信仰と約束に踏み出すのか、それとも疑いとその結果、呪いに踏み出すのか。パウロも、「イエスを主と告白し、心から信じるなら救われる」（ローマ10:9）と語り、信仰の決断を促しています。
神は私たちに信仰の選択を強制しません。しかし、与えられたものを受け取るためには、自ら一歩前進しなくてはならないのです。信仰とは、ただ神を信じることではなく、信じて前に進む決断をすることなのです。その決断の先に、神の恵みによる豊かな実りがあるのです。今日も、神の祝福の中を歩んでまいりましょう。ではまた明日。
Deuteronomy 11: Living by God’s Teachings
1. Obeying God’s Teachings (Verses 1-8)
The Israelites had traveled through the wilderness for 40 years. Now, they stood at the edge of the Promised Land, in the plains of Moab (Numbers 16:1-35). At this important moment, God reminded them to follow His commandments.
Verse 7 says, “You have seen with your own eyes all the great works of the Lord.”
Who are the people God is speaking to here?
Many Israelites had personally witnessed God’s miracles in Egypt. Others were born in the wilderness and had learned about God’s works from their parents. God commanded them to remember His teachings (Verse 8) and to teach the next generation (Verse 19).
God promised that if they followed His teachings, they would be strong and successfully enter the Promised Land. Faith is not just a single decision—it is a lifelong commitment.
This is also important for us today.
We must not only believe in God but also practice His teachings and pass them on. Paul told Timothy, “Teach what you have learned to faithful people” (2 Timothy 2:2). Faith should be passed down to future generations.
2. Loving and Serving God (Verses 9-25)
Moses compared Egypt and the Promised Land (Verses 10-11).
In Egypt, people had to irrigate their fields by turning water wheels with their feet.
In the Promised Land, God Himself would provide rain to water the land.
This symbolizes the difference between human effort and God’s blessing.
Often, we believe that success only comes from our hard work. But sometimes, God’s grace brings greater results than our own efforts.
Moses commanded:
Follow God’s commandments (Verse 13).
Stay on the right path (Verse 16).
Teach the next generation (Verse 19).
Faith is not just a feeling—it requires action.
For example, attending church, praying, and reading the Bible all help strengthen our faith.
3. Choosing Between Blessing and Curse (Verses 26-32)
Moses challenged the Israelites: “Choose blessing or curse.” (Verse 27)
To symbolize this choice, he pointed to two mountains:
Mount Gerizim, representing blessing.
Mount Ebal, representing curse.
This ritual is explained in Deuteronomy 27:11-26 and later carried out in Joshua 8:30-35.
Here’s what’s interesting—there was no middle choice.
The Israelites had to make a decision:
Step forward in faith and receive blessings.
Turn away and face consequences.
This is similar to what Paul said in Romans 10:9:
“If you declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart, you will be saved.”
God does not force faith on us, but He offers blessing if we choose Him.
Faith is not just believing—it is trusting and taking action.
Conclusion: Faith is a Choice We Live By
Obeying God’s teachings makes us strong (Verses 1-8).
