みなさんは、「自分の計画どおりに進めたいのに、思いがけない出来事で方向転換を余儀なくされる」という経験をしたことはありませんか？歴代誌第一の14章は、まさにそのような「神による割り込み」をテーマとしています。主人公はイスラエルの王、ダビデ。神が彼の人生に突然介入し、その流れを大きく変えていく様子が描かれています。これは単なる古代の物語ではなく、現代を生きる私たちにも深い示唆を与えてくれる章です。
1．本章の構成：3つの場面で見るダビデの歩み
まず、この章は大きく3つの場面に分かれています。
第一に、王権の確立です。サウル王が亡くなった後、ダビデは王として認められます。
次に、敵対勢力の脅威があります。ダビデが王になると、ペリシテ人が攻め寄せてきます。かつてダビデをかくまったこともあった彼らが、今度は敵となり、イスラエルに迫るのです。王になったとしても、すべてが順調に進むわけではなく、むしろ試練が増えていきます。
そして三つ目は、神との対話と勝利の場面です。ここが最も重要な部分になります。ダビデは戦いの前には必ず神に伺い、「どうすればよいでしょうか？」と祈ります。そして、神の指示に従うことで勝利を収めるのです。
２．重要なポイント１：歴代誌とサムエル記の関係
次に重要なポイントを見ていきましょう。歴代誌はサムエル記と一緒に読むことで、内容がよりよく理解できます。サムエル記はイスラエルの歴史そのものを描いているのに対し、歴代誌はその歴史の「意味」を読み解く役割を果たしています。ダビデの物語は、単に過去の出来事として語られるのではなく、そこに解釈が加えられているのです。
サウル王の死後、ダビデがすぐに王として認められたわけではありません。多くの協力や戦いを経て、ようやく王としての地位を確立しました。ダビデ自身は、神が自分を導いてくださると信じていましたが、実際に王位が安定するまでには時間がかかったのです。
とくに注目すべきなのは、ダビデが王となったのは自身の繁栄のためではなく、イスラエル全体が主にある祝福を受けるためであったという点です。リーダーシップの本質は、個人の栄誉や成功ではなく、組織や共同体に祝福をもたらすことにあります。歴代誌はその視点を強調しています。
3．重要なポイント２：神の「神の割り込み」をどう理解するか
続いて、この章の核心について考えてみましょう。11節に出てくる「破る」という言葉、ヘブル語で「パラツ」は、水がせきを切って勢いよく流れ出す様子を表します。興味深いことに、前の章の13節に出てきた「ペレツ・ウザ」と同じ語源です。かつてウザの「割り込み」によって不幸を経験したダビデが、今度は神の「割り込み」によって勝利を得るのです。神は、ときに私たちの計画に思いがけず介入し、流れを変えます。それは突然の出来事に感じられることもありますが、最終的には祝福をもたらすのです。
4．あなたの決断に神を招こう
最後に大切な点を押さえておきましょう。神の割り込みは、単なるダビデという個人を助けた奇跡譚ではありません。それは、神の主権と目的を示すものです。ダビデの勝利は、神の計画に沿った歴史の流れであり、私たちもまた、その計画に参加する姿勢が求められています。
実際、ダビデの王権が確立したことは、イスラエル全体の祝福という大きな約束（契約）に根ざしています。現代の信仰生活でも、自分個人の成功以上に、共同体全体の祝福を目指すリーダーシップが求められます。つまり、私たちこそが祝福の流れの源となる。これこそが聖書が語る信仰の核心なのです。

Have you ever experienced this? You want to follow your plan, but something unexpected forces you to change direction. 1 Chronicles chapter 14 is about this kind of “interruption by God.” The main character is David, the king of Israel. God suddenly steps into his life and changes its course. This is not just an old story. It gives us deep lessons for today.
1. The Structure of the Chapter: Three Scenes in David’s Journey
This chapter has three main parts.
First, the establishment of kingship. After King Saul died, David was accepted as king.
Next, the threat of enemies. When David became king, the Philistines came to attack. They had once helped David, but now they became enemies and moved against Israel. Becoming king did not mean everything would go smoothly. In fact, the challenges grew.
The third part is David’s dialogue with God and his victory. This is the most important part. Before every battle, David asked God, “What should I do?” He prayed and followed God’s instructions. Then he won.
2. Key Point 1: The Link Between Chronicles and Samuel
Chronicles is easier to understand when read together with Samuel. Samuel tells the history of Israel. Chronicles explains the meaning of that history. David’s story is not just a record of events. It is told with interpretation.
After Saul died, David was not immediately king. He needed help and many battles before his position was secure. David believed God was guiding him, but it took time.
Notice this: David became king not for his own success, but so that all Israel could be blessed. Leadership is not about personal glory. It is about bringing blessing to the community. Chronicles shows this clearly.
3. Key Point 2: How to Understand God’s “Interruption”
The heart of this chapter is in verse 11. The word “break through” in Hebrew is parats. It means water breaking through a dam with great force. Interestingly, the word comes from the same root as “Perez-Uzzah” in the previous chapter. Before, Uzzah’s sudden action brought trouble to David. Now, God’s sudden action brings victory. Sometimes God steps into our plans and changes the flow. It feels sudden, but it brings blessing.
4. Invite God into Your Decisions
Finally, remember this: God’s interruption is not just a miracle for David. It shows God’s power and purpose. David’s victory was part of God’s plan. We are also called to join that plan.
David’s kingship was based on God’s covenant to bless all Israel. Today, our faith should aim for more than personal success. It should seek blessing for the whole community. That is the heart of the Bible.
