【シーズン６】詩篇145篇をわかりやすく解説 慈しみをもって治める王
1．力のある王とは
「王」や「支配」と聞くと、強い力で人を従わせる姿を思い浮かべるかもしれません。では、神が王であるとは、どういうことでしょうか。詩篇145篇は、私たちが抱きがちな力のイメージを問い直します。
2．本篇の歴史的・文学的文脈
この詩篇の表題は「ダビデの賛歌」です。特定の事件を振り返る歌ではなく、神がどのような方であるかを広い視野でたたえています。
原文では、各行の初めがヘブル語のアルファベット順に並びます。日本の「いろは歌」に似た仕組みです。ただし、途中のヌーンという文字の行がありません。古い写本や翻訳にはその行が残るものもあり、もともとあったのか、意図的に省かれたのかは見解が分かれます。
また、この詩篇は第五巻の終盤にあり、続く146篇から150篇の賛美へ橋を架けています。一人の賛美が、全世界の賛美へ広がっていく位置にあります。
3．本篇の流れ
では、本篇の内容を見てまいりましょう。
1～3節「日ごとに王をたたえる」
詩人は神を「私の神、王」と呼び、日ごとに、そして世々限りなくほめたたえると語ります。神の偉大さは、人が測り尽くせるものではありません。
4～7節「みわざを次の世代へ語る」
賛美は詩人一人の胸にとどまりません。「代は代へと」、神の大能のわざと豊かないつくしみを語り伝えます。つまり、神の恵みは、その世代だけのものではありません。親が体験した神の恵みを子が聞き、その子がまた次の世代に語る、信仰のバトンリレーなのです。
8～13節「慈しみ深い王の国」
主は情け深く、あわれみ深い方です。そのいつくしみは、造られたすべてのものに及びます。この方の王国は永遠で、その統治は代々続きます。
14～20節「支え、養い、近くにおられる王」
神の統治は抽象的な力ではありません。主は倒れる者を支え、かがむ者を起こし、御手を開いて命を養われます。また、まことをもって呼び求める者の近くにおられます。同時に、主は正しい方であり、悪を曖昧にはされません。
21節「すべての人の賛美へ」
最後に、詩人の「私の口」から始まった賛美は、「すべて肉なる者」へと広がります。
4．本篇の読み方
この詩篇の中心は、神が永遠の王であり、その王としての力が慈しみとして現れることです。神は、倒れる者を支え、必要な食物を与え、呼び求める者に近づかれます。強さと優しさが別々なのではありません。神の強さは、命を支える働きとして示されます。
ただし、16節だけを取り出し、「神に願えば何でも与えられる」と読むのは適切ではありません。神は願望をかなえるだけの存在ではなく、正しく治められる王です。その正しさと慈しみを知るからこそ、賛美は世代を越えて語り継がれるのです。
5．私たちへのメッセージ
力のある王とは、どのような王でしょうか。私たちは力を、命令することや思いどおりに動かすことと結びつけがちです。しかし、この詩篇が描く王は、倒れる者を支え、かがむ者を起こし、生きるものを養われます。
ですから、まず心に留めたいのは、神が自分の望みをかなえたかどうかだけではありません。今日まで神がどのように支え、養い、近くにいてくださったかを思い起こすことです。その気づきは、無理のない言葉で神のみわざを語る力になります。
今日、神の慈しみに満ちた統治を一つ思い起こし、感謝の言葉にしてみましょう。一人の小さな賛美も、やがて次の人、次の世代へと手渡されていきます。

A King Who Rules with Kindness
- Introduction: What Is a Powerful King?
When we hear the words “king” or “rule,” we may picture someone who uses strong power to make people obey. But what does it mean that God is King? Psalm 145 asks us to rethink the kind of power we often imagine.
- Historical and Literary Context of This Psalm
The title of this psalm is “A Psalm of Praise of David.” It is not a song tied to one special event. It praises God with a wide view of who He is.
In the Hebrew text, each line begins with the letters of the Hebrew alphabet in order. It is something like an alphabet poem. But one letter, called nun, is missing in the middle. Some old manuscripts and translations include that line. So scholars do not all agree whether it was there at first or was left out on purpose.
This psalm also comes near the end of Book Five of the Psalms. It prepares the way for the praise songs in Psalms 146 to 150. The praise of one person begins to grow into the praise of the whole world.
- The Flow of This Psalm
Now let us look at the message of this psalm.
Verses 1–3: Praising the King Each Day
The writer calls God “my God and King.” He says he will praise Him every day and forever. God’s greatness is too great for people to fully understand.
Verses 4–7: Telling God’s Works to the Next Generation
Praise does not stay inside one person. One generation tells the next generation about God’s mighty works and His rich goodness. God’s grace is not only for one age. Parents tell their children what they have seen, and those children tell the next generation. Faith is passed on like a relay.
Verses 8–13: The Kingdom of the Kind King
The Lord is gracious and full of mercy. He is slow to anger and rich in faithful love. His kindness reaches all that He has made. His kingdom lasts forever, and His rule continues through all generations.
Verses 14–20: The King Who Supports, Feeds, and Comes Near
God’s rule is not only a big idea. The Lord supports all who fall. He raises up all who are bent down. He opens His hand and feeds every living thing. He is near to all who call on Him in truth. At the same time, the Lord is right in all His ways. He does not treat evil as if it does not matter.
Verse 21: From One Person’s Praise to the Praise of All People
At the end, the praise that began with “my mouth” spreads to “all flesh.” The writer wants every person to praise the holy name of the Lord forever.
- How to Read This Psalm
The center of this psalm is that God is the eternal King, and His kingly power appears as kindness. He supports those who fall. He gives food to those who need it. He comes near to those who call on Him. His strength and His kindness are not separate. His strength is shown in the way He protects and gives life.
But we should not take verse 16 by itself and say, “God gives us anything we want.” God is not only a being who fulfills our wishes. He is the King who rules with justice. Because His rule is both right and kind, praise can be told from one generation to the next.
- Message for Us
What kind of king is truly powerful? We often connect power with command, control, and getting things done our own way. But this psalm shows a King who supports those who fall, raises those who are bent down, and feeds every living thing.
So the first question is not only whether God has given us what we wanted. It is also how He has supported us, fed us, and stayed near to us until today. When we notice this, we can speak about God’s works in natural words.
Today, let us remember one sign of God’s kind rule and turn it into thanks. Even one small word of praise can be passed on to another person and then to the next generation.
