1. 天において神が崇められるように
まず詩篇の記者は、神が自分たちを祝福してくださることを切に求めています。それは、「あなたの道が地の上で、御救いが、すべての国々の間で知られるために」（2節）と。人は、神を信じる時に、神に祝福を求めます。しかし自己充足的な信仰で終わってはならず、神の祝福が自分を通して他の人々にも及び、皆が神を崇めるようになることが重要です。毎年クリスマス、イースター、ペンテコステと特別集会を持ち、人を集めながら、結局、何をしているのか。それは、天にある神の栄光が、地の上ですべての国々に示されるためです。この詩篇は短くありながら、極めて重要な宣教の理念を伝えています。イスラエルの民が選ばれたのは、御救いが彼らを通してすべての国々の間に知られるためである、と。
2．アブラハムの時からの聖書的ビジョン
聖書の始まりに立ち返ってみれば、神は、アブラハムに「地上のすべての民族はあなたによって祝福される」と語られました。神はアブラハムにあなたを祝福すると語られただけではなく、あなたを祝福の源にすると語られたのです。神は、アブラハムを通して、多くの民族が神の祝福を知り、神を崇めるようになることを期待しておられました。その後、アブラハムの子孫は、出エジプトという偉大な神の御業を経験し、荒野の40年を過ごしながら神の民となるように訓練され、イスラエルに主の王国を築きましたが、それは、周辺諸国に、まことの神の存在を知らせ、神の愛を証し、神の下に一つとならせるためでした。実際、王国時代の主の預言者たちは、イスラエルのみならず、アッシリアや、モアブ、エドム、と周辺諸国にも語られるものでした。神の命を与える救いの知識は、イスラエルを通して世界中の国々に伝えられたのです。
しかし、彼らはその使命を理解し、その使命に生きようとはしませんでした。自らを「神の選民」と考えましたが、選ばれたことの誇りに胡坐をかいてしまったのです。そして、信仰と不従順により、周辺諸国に神を証する役割に失敗してしまいました。だからその使命は、今日、新しい霊的なイスラエル、すなわち、キリストを信じる者たちに与えられたのです。
パウロは言います。自分は福音に仕える者とされたが、それは、奥義を実現するためであると（エペソ3:7）。つまり自分を通して、ユダヤ人と異邦人が一つとされる奥義、キリストのもとに皆が集められ、神を仰ぐようになるビジョンを達成するために福音が与えられたのだ、と。こうして民族的なイスラエルから霊的なイスラエル、つまりキリスト者に神のいのちを全世界に伝える使命が与えられるようになったと言うべきなのです。それは多文化・他民族共生的なビジョンの達成です。日本人だけで固まって100人、200人と頭数を増やした大きな教会を建て上げるようなものではありません。著者は言います。5節、「国々の民があなたをほめたたえ、国々の民がこぞってあなたをほめたたえますように」３、4節。「国々の民が喜び、また喜び歌いますように」。それは、まさに使徒ヨハネは、黙示録の中で、あらゆる国民、部族、民族、国語のうちから数え切れぬほどの大勢の群集がキリストのもとにあって一つとされ、神を拝し、賛美をささげているイメージそのものです（7:9）。宣教の最終ゴールはそこにあります。「あなたが公平に諸国の民をさばき、地の国民を導かれるからです（4節）」神の全地に対する支配に、人々が気づき、神のもとにひざまずき、神を賛美するようになる、これが宣教の究極の目標です。この豊かなビジョンをもたらしたのが、まさにキリストであり、そのために私たちはキリストの降誕を心から喜ぶのです。
天においては、神の栄光が指し示され、地の上では、全世界の人々がキリストの平和、祝福に与るように。これが、キリスト教会の祈りです（ルカ2：6）。
なお6節は、これが収穫感謝の歌とみられる部分です。しかし、そのような具体的な祝福は、私たちに留まるものではなく「地の果てのすべての者が、神を恐れますように」（7節）という祈りに帰結します。私たちを通してあらゆる国民、部族、民族、国語の者たちが、祝福される使命が私たちの当たり前の意識とされるように、祈らせていただきましょう。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Psalm 67: That the world may be one
1. that God may be exalted in heaven
First, the psalmist earnestly asks God to bless them. That “Thy ways may be known upon the earth, and Thy salvation among all nations” (v. 2). When one believes in God, one asks God to bless them. However, it should not end in self-sufficient faith, and it is important that God’s blessing be extended to others through you, so that everyone will worship God. Every year we have special gatherings for Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost, gathering people together, but in the end, what are we doing? It is so that the glory of God in heaven may not only be pointed out, but also shown to all nations on earth, for God is counting all. This psalm is short, but it conveys an extremely important missionary idea. The people of Israel were chosen so that His salvation might be made known through them among all nations.
2. the biblical vision from the time of Abraham
Going back to the beginning of the Bible, God told Abraham, “All the nations of the earth will be blessed through you. God not only told Abraham that He would bless you, He told him that He would make you the source of blessing. God expected that through Abraham, many peoples would come to know God’s blessing and worship Him. Later, Abraham’s descendants experienced the great work of God in the Exodus, were trained to be God’s people through 40 years in the wilderness, and established the Lord’s Kingdom in Israel in order to make the surrounding nations know the existence of the true God, to testify of His love, and to unite them as one under God. In fact, the Lord’s prophets during the Kingdom period spoke not only to Israel, but also to Assyria, Moab, Edom, and the surrounding nations. The knowledge of God’s life-giving salvation was communicated through Israel to the nations of the world.
But they did not understand and live up to that mission. They considered themselves “God’s elect,” but they sat on their pride of being chosen. And through faith and disobedience, they failed in their role of witnessing to God to the surrounding nations. So that mission has been given today to the new spiritual Israel, those who believe in Christ.
Paul says. I was made a servant of the gospel, that I might fulfill the depths (Eph. 3:7). In other words, through him, the gospel was given to fulfill the vision of the depths of Jews and Gentiles being made one, of all being gathered together to Christ and looking to God. Thus, it should be said that the mission of communicating the life of God to the whole world has been given to spiritual Israel, or Christians, from ethnic Israel. It is the achievement of a multicultural and interethnic vision. It is not like building up a big church with 100 or 200 heads, solidly composed of only Japanese. The author says, verse 5, “May the peoples of the nations praise you, and may the peoples of the nations praise you with all their hearts,” verses 3 and 4. May the nations rejoice and sing for joy. That is precisely the image that the apostle John uses in the Book of Revelation, where countless multitudes from every nation, tribe, people, and language are united in Christ, worshipping God and offering Him praise (7:9). This is the ultimate goal of missionary work. The ultimate goal of missions is for people to realize God’s dominion over the whole earth, to bow their knees to Him, and to praise Him. It is precisely Christ who has brought about this rich vision, and for this reason we rejoice with all our hearts at His Nativity.
In heaven, may the glory of God be pointed out, and on earth, may all the people of the world be blessed with the peace and blessings of Christ. This is the prayer of the Christian Church (Luke 2:6).
In addition, verse 6 is the part where this is seen as a song of thanksgiving for the harvest. However, such a specific blessing does not stay with us, but results in the prayer, “May all the ends of the earth fear God” (v. 7). Let us pray that the mission to bless all nations, tribes, peoples, and national languages through us may be made our natural awareness. Let us pray that today will be another good day.
