1．冷ややかな視線？
日曜日の朝、あなたの教会で新しい礼拝のスタイルが始まりました。しかし、音響はまだ不安定で、賛美のリズムもそろいません。進行役も慣れておらず、手順をとばしてしまうことがあります。そんな中、「素人っぽい」「うまく続かないのでは」といった冷ややかな視線を感じることもあるでしょう。思わず心が折れそうになるかもしれません。
ヒゼキヤたちが経験した宗教改革も、同じような緊張感や不安の中にありました。だからこそ、この歴代誌第二30章はとても身近に感じられます。それでは、この章の構造について見ていきましょう。
2．30章の位置づけと構造の概要（新改訳2017）
この章は、29章の神殿の浄化に続いて、バビロン捕囚から帰ってきた人々を励ますために書かれた、礼拝を立て直すための取り組みが描かれています。構造はシンプルで、流れも分かりやすくなっています。
30:1–5 過ぎ越しの祭り開催の全国への呼びかけと日程変更
本来は「第一の月」に祝うはずだった祭りですが、準備が間に合わず、多くの人も関心を示しませんでした。そのため、祭りは二度目の月に延期されました。
30:6–9 書簡による招集
北の地方に残っていた人々にも急ぎの使いが送られ、「主に立ち返りなさい」と招きました。
30:10–12 さまざまな反応
王の呼びかけに素直にエルサレムへ向かった人もいれば、嘲って無視した人もいました。しかし、「神の御手」が働き、人々の心を一つにしたのです。
30:13–20 過ぎ越しの挙行ととりなし
過ぎ越しの祭りが回復され、町中から偶像が取り除かれました。一方で、過ぎ越しの儀式は聖書の規定どおりに行われず、混乱がありました。しかし、ヒゼキヤがとりなして祈ると、主は彼らを癒し、受け入れてくださいました。
30:21–27 喜びの賛美と祭りの延長、祝福
不完全な礼拝であっても神は受け入れられ、会衆は喜びにあふれました。祭りはさらに七日間延長され、祭司たちは人々を祝福して締めくくりました。
この章の中心は30:18–20です。「心を定めて主を求める者」を、聖なる神があわれみ深く受け止める場面が描かれています。
3．最初の読者へのメッセージ
当時の読者は、バビロン捕囚から帰還し、神を中心とした新しい共同体をどう築くか悩んでいました。著者は、ヒゼキヤの苦労のエピソードを紹介しながら、当時の人々にこう伝えています。「礼拝の改革を続けなさい。人々に嘲笑されても、心が折れてはいけません。やり方がうまくいかなくても、神の恵みの中で整えられていきます。悔い改めて心を定める者を、神は愛とあわれみをもって受け入れてくださり、祝福してくださるのです。神はあなたと共におられます！」
実際に、バビロン捕囚から帰還したあとの神殿と共同体の再建記録、ネヘミヤ記やエズラ記を読むと、彼らが周囲の人々に嘲笑されながらも、励まされて礼拝を再建していったことがわかります。
4．現代の私たちへの霊的なすすめ
このメッセージは、今まさに礼拝を新たに立て直そうとする現代の信仰者への大きな励ましです。コロナ禍は、私たちに信仰や礼拝、教会の本質について問い直す機会を与えました。つまり、黙示録に出てくる七つの教会への警告は、私たち自身に向けられていることを思い出させてくれました。私たちの現実にも、眠りや妥協、怠惰といった課題があるのです。
今は、そのような現実を素直に認め、王の招きを受けて、いのちある礼拝をささげ、愛にあふれた共同体を築くときです。「心を定めて主を求める」教会には、神の目が注がれています。あなたの教会での礼拝が豊かに祝福されますように。では、また明日。
Season 6: 2 Chronicles 30 — The Restoration of Passover
1. Cold eyes?
On Sunday morning, your church starts a new worship style. But the sound is unstable, the rhythm of praise is not together, and the MC skips a step because they are not used to it. In that moment, you may feel cold eyes: “It looks amateur,” “It won’t last.” Your heart may bend.
Hezekiah’s reform had the same tension and worry. This is why 2 Chronicles 30 feels very close to us. Let’s see the structure of this chapter.
2. Position and structure of chapter 30 (Shinkaiyaku 2017)
This chapter comes after the cleansing of the temple in chapter 29. It was written to encourage the people who returned from Babylonian exile. It shows how they rebuilt worship. The flow is simple and clear.
2Ch 30:1–5 — A national call and a change of date
The feast should be in “the first month,” but many were not prepared and many had little interest. So the feast moved to the second month.
2Ch 30:6–9 — Letters to gather people
Messengers ran even to the north. They said, “Return to the LORD.”
2Ch 30:10–12 — Different reactions
Some people went up to Jerusalem humbly. Others mocked and ignored the call. Yet “the hand of God” worked and united their hearts.
2Ch 30:13–20 — Passover and intercession
Passover was restored. Idols were removed from the town. But the ritual was not done exactly by the rules, and there was confusion. Hezekiah prayed and stood in the gap. The LORD healed them and accepted them.
2Ch 30:21–27 — Joy, an extended feast, and blessing
Even imperfect worship was received by God, and the people were full of joy. They extended the feast for seven more days. The priests blessed the people at the end.
The center of this chapter is 30:18–20. God, who is holy, kindly receives “those who set their hearts to seek the LORD.”
3. Message to the first readers
The readers had returned from Babylon and asked, “How can we build a new community with God at the center?” The writer shows Hezekiah’s troubles and says: “Keep reforming worship. Do not bend your heart even if people mock you. Even if you fail in the method, God’s grace will shape you. If you repent and set your heart, God will accept and bless you. God is with you!”
In Nehemiah and Ezra, we see that people were mocked by others while they rebuilt the temple and the community. Yet they were encouraged and rebuilt worship.
4. A spiritual encouragement for us today
This message is strong encouragement for believers who rebuild worship now. COVID-19 made us think again about faith, worship, and the heart of church. The warnings to the seven churches in Revelation also speak to us today. We face sleep, compromise, and laziness.
Now is the time to face our real state, receive the king’s call, offer living worship, and build a loving community. God watches a church that “sets its heart to seek the LORD.” May the worship in your church be richly blessed. See you tomorrow.
