1．幕屋建設のための材料をお献げする（25:1-8）
昨日読んだように、イスラエルの民は、シナイ山で契約を交わしました。天地創造の、唯一まことの神のみを信じ、その神と共に生きる契約です。その具体的な行動として、まず彼らは、神を礼拝するための聖所を設けます。神の居場所を、自分の生活の中に設けるわけです。彼らは「（イスラエルの民が）聖所を造るなら、神が彼らの中に住む（8節）」という約束を信じて、実際に聖所を作りました。
キリスト教信仰を持つことも同じです。キリスト教信仰を持って、何が変わるかと言えば、まずその人の日常生活の中に、天地創造の、唯一まことの神のために居場所が作られることです。具体的に言えば、毎週日曜日は神を礼拝する、毎日聖書を読むようになるなど新しい生活習慣が出来上がっていくのです。また「神あってのものだね」と日々、神を仰ぎ、神により頼んで生きていく生活態度が形作られるのです。つまり、単身者が、パートナーを迎えて生活する状況を考えてみたらよいのでしょう。パートナーに対して心を使い、時間をシェアする生活変化が起こります。同様に、神を生活の中に迎え入れるなら、当然生活も変化していくのです。
続いてイスラエルの民は、その聖所の作り方まで教えられていることに注目しましょう。まず彼らは、幕屋を造るために材料を調達するように命じられています（2節）。それは強制ではなく、自発的に（2コリント9:7）、また最上のものを献げるのです。教会も同じです。自発的、最善のものをもって、共に教会とその礼拝を形作っていくのです。教会は、神がおられる場所、神が私たちを祝福するために私たちとお会いしてくださる場所、そのような信仰を持って、共に心を合わせて教会に集う。心からの祈りと賛美を献げる。集まった会衆が一つ心になって神の言葉に耳を傾ける。そして備えて来たものを皆で献げ、応答していく場なのです。
2．調度類を作る純金1タラント（25:9-40）
続いて10節からは、幕屋に置く備品類、アカシア材の箱、机、純金の燭台について、細かな指示がなされています。いわば彼らにとっては祭儀を行うための調度類を作るための説明です。アカシア材の箱は、契約の板を入れるもので、神のみことばと臨在の象徴でした。また、アカシア材の机は、備えのパンを載せるもの。つまり、神があらゆるものを備えられる方であると覚えるためのものです（マタイ6:11）。さらに燭台は、そこに臨在される「神が光である」（マタイ5:14-16）ことを象徴します。
またこれらは、イスラエルがその歴史において経験してきた出来事を思い起こすための象徴的でもありました。イスラエルの民は、エジプトに奴隷とさせられていた暗闇の時代、神に光を見出したのです（燭台）。そして異邦人への光となる役割を与えられました（イザヤ60:3）。また荒野の40年の旅を通して彼らは、天からマナを与えられ、備えられる神の素晴らしさを経験してきました（アカシア材の机）。そのようにしていつも、共におられる神を体験してきたのです（アカシア材の箱）。燭台、机、箱は、皆、神の光と支え、そして臨在の経験を思い起こすための道具であったのです。
しかも39節、これらを純金１タラントで作るべきことが教えられます。新約聖書では、イエスがタラントのたとえを語っています（マタイ25:14-30）。それはそれぞれ人間に与えられている異なる才能や能力を神の働きのために活用すべきことを教えるものです。タラントは明らかに人によって差があるものでしょう。しかし、イエスが取り上げた最低の量のタラントは１タラントでした。そして１タラント与えられた者は、このようなもので何の商売が出来ようか、とそれと使わず、放置したため、最終的にその１タラントも取り上げられる事態が語られています。
ここで注目すべきは、神の幕屋の重要備品に指定された金の量は１タラントです。人は価値あるものには、それなりにお金をつぎ込むことでしょう。ふんだんに注ぐ人もいます。しかし、神は1タラントを活かそうとされるのです。1タラントで何が出来るかではなく、1タラントで神の目的が機能するようにしていく、これが大事なのでしょう。1タラントを通して、しっかり神を仰ぎ、神に近づき、神に憩う場とすることが重要なのです。ふんだんにお金を注ぎ込んでではなく、限られたものであれ、神を覚え、神を生活の中心に置く健全に機能する教会を建て上げていく、それが求められていることです。

Chapter 25: Recommendations for Offerings. Rules for Furnishing the Tabernacle3

As we read yesterday, the Israelites made a covenant at Mount Sinai to believe only in the one true God of creation and to live with Him. As a concrete act of this covenant, they first establish a sanctuary to worship God. They establish a place for God in their lives. They believed the promise, “If [the Israelites] build the sanctuary, God will dwell in their midst (v. 8),” and they actually built the sanctuary.
The same is true of having Christian faith. What changes when one has Christian faith is that a place is made for the one true God of creation in one’s daily life. Specifically, a new lifestyle habit is created, such as worshipping God every Sunday, reading the Bible daily, and so on. In addition, an attitude will be formed in which they will look up to God daily and live their lives relying on Him, saying, “God is the reason for this. In other words, think of a situation where a single person welcomes a partner into his or her life. A change of life occurs in which they use their hearts and share their time with their partner. Similarly, if you welcome God into your life, your life will naturally change as well.
Let us then note that the Israelites are even taught how to build their sanctuary. First, they are commanded to procure materials to build the tabernacle (v. 2). It is not compulsory, but voluntary (2 Cor. 9:7), and they are to offer the best. The same is true of the Church. Together, voluntarily and with the best, we shape the church and its worship. The church is a place where God is, where God meets with us to bless us, and with that kind of faith, we gather together in the church with our hearts together. We offer up heartfelt prayers and praise. The gathered congregation listens to the Word of God with one heart. It is a place where everyone offers what they have prepared and responds. - 1 talent of pure gold for making furnishings (25:9-40)
From verse 10, detailed instructions are given for the furnishings of the tabernacle, including acacia wood boxes, tables, and candlesticks of pure gold. For them, so to speak, these are instructions for making the furnishings for the ritual. The acacia wood box was to hold the covenant tablets, symbolizing the Word and presence of God. The acacia wood table was to hold the bread of the provision, that is, to remember that God is the One who makes all things ready (Matthew 6:11). The candlestick symbolizes that “God is light” (Matthew 5:14-16), who is present there.
They were also symbolic reminders of the events that Israel had experienced in its history. The Israelites found light in God during the period of darkness when they were enslaved in Egypt (the candlestick). They were then given the role of being a light to the Gentiles (Isaiah 60:3). Through their 40-year journey in the wilderness, they also experienced the splendor of God’s provision of manna from heaven (the acacia-wood desk). In this way, they have always experienced God’s presence with them (acacia wood box). The candlestick, the desk, and the box were all instruments to recall the experience of God’s light, support, and presence.
Moreover, verse 39 tells us that these should be made of one talent of pure gold. In the New Testament, Jesus tells the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30). It teaches that the different talents and abilities given to each person should be used for the work of God. Obviously, talents will vary from person to person. But the lowest amount of talents Jesus took away was one talent. The person who was given a talent did not use it and neglected it, wondering what business he could do with such a thing.
It is important to note that the amount of gold designated as important equipment in the tabernacle of God is one talent. People will pour money into things that are valuable in their own right. Some people pour it in abundance. It is important to make the talents a place to look up to God, to draw near to God, and to rest in God. We need to build up a healthy functioning church that remembers God and places Him at the center of its life, not by pouring in an abundance of money, but by building up a healthy church with a limited amount of money.
