1．あなたの役割は小さいのでしょうか？
「自分の役割なんて、たいしたことない」と思ったことはありませんか？現代ではSNSの「いいね」やフォロワー数が注目され、目立つ人が評価されがちです。裏方の働きは忘れられやすい時代です。しかし、聖書はまったく逆の視点を示します。
歴代誌第一26章に登場するのは、門衛――神殿の入口を守る人々です。彼らは預言者や祭司ではなく、名前もほとんど知られていません。それでも神は彼らを選び、大切な役割を任せました。なぜでしょうか？この章を読むと、私たちの「奉仕の見方」が大きく変わります。
2．本章の構成：三つの奉仕の物語
歴代誌第一26章は、神殿奉仕の秩序を記録する章です。構成は次の三つです。
1）門衛の任命（1〜19節）：神殿の門を守る人々が選ばれます。条件は「勇士」であり「思慮深い者」。そして、くじによって配置が決まります。
2）宝物倉の管理（20〜28節）：神殿の財産を管理する人々。通常のささげ物等一般会計用と戦利品など特別会計用の二種類の倉庫を守ります。
3）外部業務（29〜32節）：律法を教え、民をさばき、王に仕える人々。ヨルダン川の東西に配置され、共同体の秩序を保ちました。
これら三つの奉仕は、礼拝共同体の安全・秩序・霊的健全性を守るために不可欠でした。
3．重要ポイント：門衛の使命とは？
1）勇士であり思慮深い者
門衛はただ立っているだけではありません。歴代誌第一26章6〜8節には「勇士」とあります。異教徒の攻撃や妨害があれば、勇気を持って神殿を守る必要がありました。さらに14節には「思慮深い者」とあり、誰を通し、誰を止めるかを見極める判断力も求められました。
現代に置き換えると、門衛は教会の受付係に似ています。来訪者を迎えるだけでなく、困りごとを察し、必要なら牧師につなぐ――簡単そうに見えて、実は勇気と知恵が必要な働きです。
2）くじによる分配―神による選び
この役割はくじで決められました。「くじは膝に投げられるが、そのすべての決定は主から来る」（箴言16章33節）とあるように。奉仕は「できるから」「やりたいから」ではなく、「神に選ばれ、信仰で応える」ものなのです。
3）宝物倉と外部業務の意義
宝物倉の管理者は、神殿の財産を正しく扱う責任を負いました(20-28節）。外部業務の人々は律法教育や裁きを担い、共同体の秩序を守りました（29節以降）。東側に多くの人員が配置されたのは、異教文化との接触が多く、律法から逸れる危険があったためと考えられます。
4．あなたの奉仕は小さくありません
歴代誌第一26章はこう語ります。「奉仕に上下はない」。門衛も財務も司法も、すべて神の計画の一部です。現代の教会でも同じです。大切なのは「できるから」でも「やりたいから」でもなく「神に信頼されてその働きに召されていると受け止め、その期待に心から応えようとする気持ち」をもって行うことです。受付や財務、教育――どれも神に委ねられた尊い働きです。

Season 6: Easy Explanation of 1 Chronicles 26 – Your Service Matters
1. Is Your Role Small?
Have you ever thought, “My role is not important”? Today, people pay attention to “likes” and followers on social media. Those who stand out are praised, while those who work behind the scenes are often forgotten. But the Bible shows a completely different view.
In 1 Chronicles 26, we meet the gatekeepers—people who guarded the entrance of the temple. They were not prophets or priests, and most of their names are unknown. Still, God chose them and gave them an important role. Why? Reading this chapter will change how we see service.
2. The Structure of This Chapter: Three Types of Service
1 Chronicles 26 records the order of temple service. It has three parts:
- Appointment of Gatekeepers (verses 1–19):
People were chosen to guard the temple gates. They had to be “valiant” and “wise.” Their positions were decided by casting lots. - Management of the Treasuries (verses 20–28):
People managed the temple’s wealth. There were two kinds of storerooms: one for regular offerings (general funds) and one for special items like war spoils (special funds). - Outside Duties (verses 29–32):
People taught the Law, judged disputes, and served the king. They were placed on both sides of the Jordan River to keep order in the community.
These three services were essential for the safety, order, and spiritual health of the worship community.
3. Key Points: The Mission of Gatekeepers
Valiant and Wise
Gatekeepers did more than stand at the door. Verses 6–8 call them “valiant men.” If enemies attacked, they needed courage to protect the temple. Verse 14 says they were “wise,” able to judge who should enter and who should not.
Today, this is like church greeters. They welcome visitors, but also notice needs and connect people to pastors. It looks simple, but it takes courage and wisdom.
Chosen by Lots—Chosen by God
Their roles were decided by lots: “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:33). Service is not “because I can” or “because I want to,” but “because God chose me, and I respond in faith.”
The Meaning of Treasuries and Outside Duties
Treasury keepers managed God’s resources carefully (verses 20–28). Those with outside duties taught the Law and judged disputes (verse 29 onward). More people were placed east of the Jordan because they were near foreign nations and at risk of leaving God’s Law.
4. Your Service Is Not Small
1 Chronicles 26 teaches this: “There is no higher or lower service.” Gatekeepers, treasurers, judges—all were part of God’s plan. The same is true today. What matters is not “I can” or “I want,” but “God trusts me, and I respond with all my heart.” Greeting, finance, teaching—each is a precious work given by God.
