現代は、スマートフォンの通知に絶えず追われ、気がつけば一日が「消費」されて終わっていると感じる人も多いことでしょう。そんな私たちに歴代誌第二2章は、時間の新しい使い方を提案しています。ソロモン王が目指したのは、単に壮大な神殿をつくることではありません。彼は「朝と夕」に神へ心を向けて礼拝するリズムを生活の中に形作ることを大切にしていました（歴代誌第二2:4）。つまりこの神殿建設の物語は、私たちの日常生活の全体を神に向けていく生き方、つまり礼拝的な生活を教えているのです。
2．本章の流れをざっくり
そこで本章の構成をざっくりみていきましょう。まず、ソロモンは、神殿を建て上げる目的を語ります。それは、神がイスラエルに命じておられること、焼き尽くすささげ物をささげ、香をたき、安息日や新月の祭を守るためである、と（4–6節）。その後、ツロの王フラムに木材や職人、物資の提供を要請（7–10節）。それに対してフラム王が協力の意志を示し（11–16節）、最後に在留外国人を労働者として編成・配置します（17–18節）。同じ内容は『列王記第一』5章にも登場しますが、『歴代誌』では特に礼拝の秩序に焦点が当てられているのが特徴です。
3．ここがポイント（当該章ならでは）
では、ポイントとなるところをみていきます。
- 「ただ」の意味を考える（6節）
まず6節、ソロモンは「天も、天の天も主をお入れできない」と言い、神殿は「ただ」神へ香やささげ物をささげる場所だと述べています。ヘブライ語の「כי」は「ただ」「〜以外には」という意味で、神殿は神に鎮座してもらうような場所ではなく、「ただ」私たちが心を神に向け、神に自身をささげる場であると語るのです。神の超越性に心が反応する、それが礼拝の本質です。
- 礼拝は「時間の秩序」づくり（4節）
また朝夕のささげ物や安息日、新月の祭など、これらの説明は、礼拝がクリスチャンにとって守られるべき「特別なイベント」であると言っているわけではありません。日々のリズムとなるものであることを示唆しているのです。それは、出エジプト記29:38–42に説明されている「朝と夕のささげ物」に通じるものです。日々無意識に呼吸するごとく、神と共に生きていく生活を形にするという考え方がそこにあります。
- 異邦の協力を用いる主権（11–16節）
三番目に注目したいのは、ツロの王フラムがイスラエルの神を称賛し、木材や職人の提供を約束したこと。神はイスラエルの外の力も用いてご自身の計画を実現されました。これは後にペルシアの王クロスの勅令を用いて捕囚後の神殿を再建した出来事にも重なります（歴代誌第二36章）。つまり信仰の営みは、信仰者だけで成り立つ世界ではなく、まさに社会との関わりの中で進められるものだ、ということです。
4）歴史の手ざわり――レバノン杉の筏輸送（16節）
材木は筏にしてヤッファ（ヤッフォ）まで運ばれ、そこから陸路で搬入されました。これはフェニキア時代の一般的な物流方法です。神殿建設は、霊的な営みであると同時に、人材・資源・ネットワークといった現実的な手段によっても支えられていたのです。
４．小さな「朝夕に時間を取り分けて」から
私たち忙しさに流されやすい毎日を送っています。だからこそ朝と夕のひとときに意識して時間を取り、心を神に向けることが大切です。スマホを置いて、静かに呼吸を整え、神に感謝し祈る。その小さな習慣が礼拝的な生活を形作ることになります。
そうすれば、忙しさに振り回されない強さも生まれます。そして、私たちの歩みが神中心に整えられて、神に栄光を帰す人生へと導かれるのです。
異文化の社会にあっても、人とのつながりを大切にしながら、自分の信仰を大事にしていく、神はその歩みを祝福し、共にいてくださいます。今日から、朝と夕に、時間を神にささげることから始めてみましょう。あなたの祈りの時が豊かに祝されますように。ではまた明日。©Dr.Makoto
【Season 6】Easy Explanation of 2 Chronicles 2 – Solomon’s Temple Preparation
1. Recover “Morning and Evening” in the Smartphone Age
Today, many people feel that their day ends consumed by endless smartphone notifications. 2 Chronicles 2 offers us a new way to use time. Solomon’s goal was not only to build a magnificent temple. He wanted to shape a rhythm of worship in daily life—turning his heart to God “morning and evening” (2 Chronicles 2:4). This story teaches us about living a worshipful life—directing our whole daily life toward God.
2. Overview of the Chapter
Let’s look at the structure of this chapter. First, Solomon explains the purpose of building the temple: to obey God’s command, offer burnt sacrifices, burn incense, and keep the Sabbaths and new moon festivals (verses 4–6). Then he asks King Huram of Tyre for wood, craftsmen, and supplies (verses 7–10). Huram agrees to help (verses 11–16). Finally, Solomon organizes resident foreigners as laborers (verses 17–18). The same story appears in 1 Kings 5, but Chronicles focuses more on worship order.
3. Key Points of This Chapter
1) The Meaning of “Only” (Verse 6)
In verse 6, Solomon says, “Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain God,” and the temple is “only” for offering incense and sacrifices. The Hebrew word “ki” means “only” or “except.” The temple was not a place to confine God but a place for us to turn our hearts to Him and offer ourselves. Worship is our response to God’s greatness.
2) Worship Creates a Rhythm of Time (Verse 4)
Morning and evening sacrifices, Sabbaths, and new moon festivals are not just special events. They show that worship should become part of our daily rhythm. This idea connects to Exodus 29:38–42 about morning and evening offerings. Like breathing, we live in step with God every day.
3) God Uses Help from Outsiders (Verses 11–16)
King Huram praised Israel’s God and promised wood and craftsmen. God used help from outside Israel to accomplish His plan. Later, He used King Cyrus of Persia to rebuild the temple after the exile (2 Chronicles 36). Faith is not isolated—it works within society.
4) A Touch of History – Floating Logs (Verse 16)
The wood was floated as rafts to Joppa and then carried by land. This was a common Phoenician transport method. Temple building was spiritual, but it also needed real resources, skilled people, and networks.

We often get swept away by busyness. That’s why it’s important to set aside time in the morning and evening to turn your heart to God. Put down your phone, breathe quietly, and pray with gratitude.
