1．成功の第一歩は何？―ソロモンが選んだ「始め方」
「成功するための最初の一歩は何でしょうか？」多くの人は、よい計画を立てたり十分な資金を用意したりすることを考えるかもしれません。しかし、歴代誌第二1章でソロモンが神殿建設に取りかかる前に選んだのは、「礼拝」でした。しかも彼はエルサレムではなくギブオンで礼拝したのです。なぜなら、ギブオンには神が定めた祭壇があり、きちんとした礼拝の秩序が整えられていたからです。この章は、何か新しいことを始めるときには、まず正しい礼拝をささげることが大切だと教えています。なぜなら、神はすべてのものを支配し、あらゆる祝福の源だからです。
２．本章の全体像―礼拝・祈り・繁栄の三拍子
まず、本章全体の流れを確認しましょう。この章は三つの場面で構成されています。第一は、ソロモンがギブオンで盛大にいけにえをささげる場面（1章1–6節）。第二は、神が「何を与えようか」と問いかけ、ソロモンが契約の守りとともに知恵と知識を求める場面（7–13節）。第三は、その結果、国が戦車や騎兵、金銀などで栄えていく場面（14–17節）です。この内容は列王記と重なる部分が多く、1–6節がオリジナル、7–13節は1列王記3:5–15の要約、14–17節は1列王記10:26–29の再録となっています。ただし、歴代誌第二は特に礼拝を出発点とし大切にすることを強調するものです。
3．なぜギブオンで礼拝するのか―神の秩序に従う礼拝
ソロモン王は神殿を建て始めるにあたり、まずギブオンという高い場所で主に願いといけにえをささげました。では、なぜエルサレムではなくギブオンだったのでしょうか。それは、ギブオンに「会見の天幕」と、職人のベツァルエルが作った特別な青銅の祭壇があったからです。確かに契約の箱はエルサレムにありましたが、神が決めた通りの方法で礼拝するには、ギブオンで行う必要があったのです。こうして、礼拝がすべてのスタートであることが強調されています。私たちも、まず礼拝を最優先することが重要です。新約聖書の初代教会も、異邦人への宣教は礼拝から始まりました（使徒13章）。つまり、礼拝は新しい使命が与えられる場所なのです。
4．祈りの優先順位――願望より使命、学識より知恵
ソロモンの祈りはとても注目すべきものです。神が「何を与えようか」と語られたとき、彼はまず神との契約に忠実であることを願い（1章9節）、次に知恵と知識を求めました（1章10節）。ここで大切なのは、ソロモンが自分にとって都合のよいものを願ったのではなく、神から与えられた使命を果たすために本当に必要なものを祈り求めたことです。祈りは自己実現のためだけでなく、神にゆだねられた働きを成し遂げるためのものです。そして神はこの祈りにこたえて、知恵だけでなく、富や名誉もソロモンに与えました（1章11～12節）。祝福はゴールではなく、使命を支えるためのものだと教えられます。
5．繁栄の記録――戦車の町々と石のような金銀
後半（1章14～17節）では、戦車の町や騎兵、そして「金銀が石のようにある」と表現される程の繁栄が描かれています。これは、神がソロモン王を通じて約束を忠実に実現したしるしです。たとえば発掘されているメギドの厩舎は、歴史的にはアハブ時代のものと考えられていますが、その規模や構造は歴代誌が伝える王国の繁栄が現実であったことを示しています。しかし、何より重要なのは、こうした栄光はすべて神の恵みに支えられていたということです。かつてサウルやヨナタンの時代には武器も乏しかったことを思い出せば、その違いは歴然です。繁栄とは、神を第一にして礼拝し、その恵みにより頼み、神のみ言葉に従った結果としてもたらされるものだと分かります。
6．始める前に、礼拝で心を整える
私たちが何かを始めるときも、まずは祝福の源である神へ礼拝をささげ、心を整えることが大切です。その際は、神が定めた方法に従う必要があります。そうすることで、物事を進めるための神の知恵や恵みを豊かに受けることができるのです。そして、神から託された使命を聖書と信仰の共同体と分かち合い、その使命に必要な知恵や理解を熱心に求めましょう。また、もしさまざまな祝福や資源を得たときは、それが自分の成功のためではなく、神の約束に仕え、教会を建て上げる目的であることを忘れないようにしたいものです。歴代誌第二1章は、「礼拝→使命→知恵→繁栄」という信仰の流れが今も変わらず大切だと伝えています。それでは、また明日お会いしましょう。©Dr.Makoto
Season 6: Easy Explanation of 2 Chronicles Chapter 1 – The Glory of Solomon
1. What is the First Step to Success? – The Way Solomon Started
“What is the first step to success?” Many people think about making a good plan or preparing enough money. But in 2 Chronicles chapter 1, before Solomon started building the temple, he chose worship. And he worshiped not in Jerusalem, but in Gibeon. Why? Because Gibeon had the altar that God had appointed, and the right order for worship was there. This chapter teaches us that when we start something new, the most important thing is to offer true worship first. Why? Because God rules everything and is the source of all blessings.
2. The Whole Picture of This Chapter – Worship, Prayer, and Prosperity
Let’s look at the flow of this chapter. It has three parts:
First, Solomon offers a great sacrifice in Gibeon (verses 1–6).
Second, God asks, “What shall I give you?” and Solomon asks for God’s covenant to be kept and for wisdom and knowledge (verses 7–13).
Third, as a result, the nation becomes rich with chariots, horses, and silver and gold (verses 14–17).
This is similar to 1 Kings, but 2 Chronicles especially emphasizes starting with worship.
3. Why Worship in Gibeon? – Worship in God’s Way
Before building the temple, Solomon went to Gibeon and offered sacrifices and prayers. Why not in Jerusalem? Because Gibeon had the “tent of meeting” and the special bronze altar made by Bezalel. The Ark of the Covenant was in Jerusalem, but to worship in the way God commanded, Solomon had to go to Gibeon. This shows that worship is the starting point of everything. We also need to make worship our first priority. In the New Testament, the early church began its mission to the Gentiles with worship (Acts 13). Worship is the place where new missions are given.
4. The Priority of Prayer – Mission Before Desire, Wisdom Before Knowledge
Solomon’s prayer is very important. When God said, “What shall I give you?” Solomon first asked for faithfulness to God’s covenant (verse 9), then for wisdom and knowledge (verse 10). The key point is that Solomon did not ask for things that were easy for him, but for what he needed to do the mission God gave him. Prayer is not only for our own dreams, but for the work God gives us. God answered this prayer and gave Solomon wisdom, and also wealth and honor (verses 11–12). Blessings are not the goal, but the support for the mission.
5. The Record of Prosperity – Chariot Cities and Silver Like Stones
In the last part (verses 14–17), we read about chariot cities, horses, and silver and gold “as common as stones.” This shows that God kept His promise through Solomon. For example, the stables found in Megiddo are thought to be from Ahab’s time, but their size and design show that the prosperity described in Chronicles was real. Most important, all this glory came from God’s grace. In Saul’s time, even weapons were few. The difference is clear. Prosperity comes when we put God first, worship Him, and follow His Word.
6. Before You Start, Prepare Your Heart in Worship
When we start something, we should first worship God, the source of blessing, and prepare our hearts. We need to follow God’s way. Then we will receive His wisdom and grace to move forward. We should share the mission God gives us with the church and pray for the wisdom and understanding we need. And if we receive blessings and resources, we must remember they are not for our success, but to serve God’s promise and build His church. 2 Chronicles chapter 1 teaches us that the flow “Worship → Mission → Wisdom → Prosperity” is still important today.
