16章　逃亡するダビデ

 

1．シムイの呪いの意味

いのちを狙い、追跡してくるアブサロムから逃れようとする道の途上、ダビデは、シムイという人物とすれ違っています。かつてダビデを殺そうとしたサウルの一族の者でした。すれ違ったとはいえ、シムイは谷の反対斜面を平行して走る道を歩いていました。危害を加えられることもないという思いもあったのでしょう。シムイは、ダビデに「血まみれの男」つまり人殺しと呼びかけ、罵詈雑言、呪いの言葉を浴びせました。ダビデの家来、アビシャイが、思わず彼を追いかけ殺そうとするのですが、ダビデはそれを制しています。それは神がシムイを通して語っておられることだ、と。ダビデは、過去の過ちを思い起こし、自分がそのように言われるのは、当然のことだと思ったのでしょう。と、私は、ずいぶん長いことそのように解釈してきました。しかし、ダビデは続けて言うのです。「おそらく、主は私の心をご覧になるだろう。そして主は、今日の彼の呪いに代えて、私に良いことをもって報いてくださるだろう。」

大切なポイントです。確かにダビデは、悪を行いました。しかし彼はその報いをすでに受けているのです。そして神が、いつまでもだらだらと過去の罪をほじくり返して、自分を責めているとは考えませんでした。神が愛だというのなら、そう考えるべきでしょう。むしろダビデは、アブサロムの謀反を、過去の悪を引きずった神の裁きが続いているのではなくて、全く新しい試練であると考えたのでしょう。だからこそ、神が今の私の心をご覧になれば、神は呪いを取り消し、良いことをもって報いてくださると考えたというわけです。私たちの罪過ちが、イエスの十字架によってすべて赦されいる、というのであれば、神は必ずや、良いことをもって報いてくださる、と今ある試練にて思うことが大切です。

人間はいつまでも過去を引きずる者ですが、神はそうではありません。何か自分に不幸なこと、不名誉なことが起こってきても、いちいち過去の過ちを思い起こしてそれと結びつけて、自分をさらに追い詰めるようなことはしてはなりません。むしろ、神に罪を告白し、神の赦しを受けたというのなら、新しい試練は新しいものとして、神の裁可を待つ必要があります。だからこそこれは意外だと思う心があれば、これを機に神は何をなさろうとしているのか、と物事を見ていけばよいのです。

2．試練に振り回されない

新しい試練のもとには、様々な動きがあります。ツィバのように偽りを言う者が近づいてくることがあります。一方的な情報しか得られない時には、ツィバのような偽りを見抜くことは難しいものでしょう。また、その試練の中で心を打ちのめすかのように、シムイのように呪いをもって攻め立ててくる者もいます。さらにアビシャイのように、目には目、歯に歯はと、後先を考えない行動を起こすように誘惑する者もいます。そしてアヒトフェルのように、敵の側につく、有能な策略家も現れます。敵はますます強くなり、ますます敗北を決定的に感じさせる、そのような状況が起こりうるのです。

しかしいかなる試練があっても、神に罪赦された、聖い良心を持っているのであるなら、これは一時の苦しみ、神はこの呪いを良いことをもって報いてくださるだろう、と確信し、神に期待することができるのです。このような時に、周囲に起こる、様々な人間的な動きに振り回されないことです。実際最も恐れられたのはアヒトフェルの助言で、彼の声は確かに神の声のようであったのかもしませんが、彼は神ではありません。すべての方向性を握るのは神ご自身です。そして、神が許された試練には、必ず出口があるものでしょう。「呪いに代えて、私に良いことを持って報いてくださるだろう」ということが起こりうることを信じるのです。ですから、まず私たちに罪があるならば、それは告白し赦していただく必要があります。しかしただ、罪赦された心があるのみならば、私たちはいつでも、主が呪いに代えて良いことを持って報いてくださるという信仰に立って、主の良いことを待ち望みたいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 16 David to escape

1．Meaning of Shimui’s curse

On the way to escape from Absalom, who is pursuing the life of his father David, David is passing by a person named Simui. He was once a member of the Saul clan who tried to kill David. Although they passed each other, Shimui was walking on a road running parallel to the opposite slope of the valley. Perhaps he thought he wouldn’t be harmed. Simui called David a “bloody man,” a murderer, and cast abusive and cursed words on him. David’s servant, Abishai, tries to chase him and kill him, but David controls it. That is what God is saying through Simui. David would have recalled the mistakes of the past and took it for granted that he was said to be that way. I have interpreted it that way for a long time. But David goes on to say. “It may be that the Lord will look upone my misery and restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse today. ”

This is an important point. Certainly David did evil. But he has already received the reward. And I didn’t think that God was blaming himself for forever sloppy past sins. If God is love, you should think so. Rather, David would have seen Absalom’s rebellion as a whole new test, rather than a continuation of God’s judgment that dragged the evils of the past. That is why I thought that if God looked at my heart now, he would cancel the curse and reward me with good things. If all our sins are forgiven by the cross of Jesus, it is important to think in the present trial that God will surely reward us with good things.

Humans are forever dragging the past, but God is not. If something unfortunate or disgraceful happens to you, do not remember the mistakes of the past and connect them with them to further hunt yourself down. Rather, if we confess our sins to God and have received God’s forgiveness, we must wait for God’s sanction as new trials. That’s why if you think this is surprising, you should take this opportunity to see what God is trying to do.

2．Not swayed by trials

There are various movements under the new trials. Someone who tells a lie like Ziba may approach. When only one-sided information is available, it can be difficult to spot falsehoods like Ziba. In addition, there are those who attack with a curse like Shimui, as if to overwhelm their hearts in the trial. In addition, some people, such as Abishai, tempt them to take actions that do not think ahead, such as eye for an eye and teeth for teeth. And like Ahithophel, there will be talented tacticians who will be on the side of the enemy. Such a situation can occur, where the enemy becomes stronger and stronger and the defeat feels more decisive.

But no matter what the trials, if you have a holy conscience that has been forgiven by God, this is a temporary suffering, and you are convinced that God will reward this curse with good things. You can expect from God. At times like this, don’t be swayed by the various human movements that occur around you. In fact, the most feared was Ahithophel’s counsel, whose voice may have been like the voice of God, but he is not God. It is God himself who holds all directions. And every trial that God has forgiven will have an exit. Believe in the possibility that “restore to me his covenant blessing instead of his curse today.” So, first of all, if we are guilty, we need to confess and forgive it. But if we only have a forgiven heart, we always want to wait for the good of the Lord in the belief that the Lord will reward us with good things in place of the curse. I pray that today will be a good day.
