1列王記2章　ソロモンの王位継承

1．ダビデが残したもの

人は皆、同じ道を辿っていくものです。ダビデも同じでした。たとえ人は、他人を見下し優越感に浸ろうと、結局は同じ運命をたどります。人は土で作られた者として土に戻っていきます（伝道者の書12:7）。死は、イエスの再臨までは、人が皆受け入れなければならない宿命です。そこで人は、神に造られた被造物に過ぎない現実を受け入れながら、いったい何を遺していくのか、考えなければなりません。先祖のヤコブ、ヨセフに倣って、ダビデは子を呼び寄せ、知恵ある助言を遺しています。そこにはアムノンやアブサロムに対する失敗を乗り越えて、彼がただ父親としてあろうとする姿があります。彼は言います「強く、男らしくありなさい。」（2節）と。聖書に「男らしくある」と出てくるのは、他に1サムエル4:9のみです。そこでは、ペリシテ軍がイスラエルの蜂起に対して、「男らしくふるまえ」とあり、それは、危機的状況にあって前に進む意志を持つことを意味します。確かに、サムエル記は、常に前に進むダビデを描いています。何が起ころうとも、くじけずに泰然自若な心を持ち、終わってしまったことは忘れて、主にあって奮い立ち、前に進んでいくのです。

結局、ダビデは、死に際し、お金でも、家でもなく、自分の生き方、信仰を遺したのです。はったりではない、ただ天地創造の神に一瞬一瞬拠り頼み、深く結びついて生きた歩みを、バトンとして手渡したと言えるでしょう。

2．実務的助言

さらにダビデは、実際的な助言を遺しました。これまで王座を脅かした人々、アドニヤ、ヨアブ、シムイについて知恵を持って対処するように、と。ただ、これは、敵対する者を排除し、味方する者によくしなさい、と言っているのではありません。それは、十字架愛に生きるキリスト者の生き方とは全く矛盾する態度です。そのように受け止めてしまうアンコンシャスバイアスに気づかないでいることは危険なことです。むしろここは、家族が受けた恩義を大切にすること、そして、警戒すべき事柄については、他人の判断ではなく、自分の判断に立つべきことを教えています。こうしてダビデは自分の先祖に加えられました。11節までが、ダビデの治世の記録です。

3．アドニヤの願い

12節からは、ソロモンの治世の記録となります。列王記の記者は、ソロモンがダビデに引き継いだ実務上の問題から書き起こします。ただそれはダビデやソロモンの個人的な復讐として読むべきものではないのでしょう。というのも、彼は理に適ったことを進めたに過ぎないからです。アドニヤが処罰されたのは、先王ダビデの妻アビシャグを妻として求めたためでした。それは自ら謀反の意思を表明すること同じでした。ですから、祭司エブヤタルの罷免も、アドニヤを支持したことからすれば当然の報いでした。将軍ヨアブもアドニヤに組したことから同罪で、結果「無実な者の血を流したことへの裁き」を受けたわけです。面従腹背のシムイに対しては、ソロモンは策略的に知恵を用いて処罰したように見えます。しかし実際に墓穴を掘ったのは、シムイです。シムイの狭量さが自らの首を絞めたのです（マタイ18:21-35）。こうしてソロモンの王国は安定していきますが、それは一般に思われているような復讐劇、あるいは粛清によるものではありませんでした。

4．神の祝福による統治

大切なのは、ソロモンの知恵が実を結び、彼の王国が確立されたのは、主の祝福によることだということです。（45節）。実際、アドニヤが策略を尽くしても、王位は、主によってソロモンのものになった、と聖書が書いているように。私たちの人間的な努力や策略がそのまま実を結ぶわけではありません。物事を正しく進められる神がいるのであって、神はある人を特別えこひいきして祝福されるわけではありません。知恵も財力も皆、主からのものであり、それを用いる私たちが成功するのも、主がそのように祝福されるからです。神を畏れ、謙虚に神の恵みを望み歩む者でありましょう。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

1．What David left behind

Everyone follows the same path. David was the same. People end up following the same fate, even if they look down on others and immerse themselves in a sense of superiority. Man returns to the soil as a man made of soil (Ecc. 12:7). Death is a destiny that everyone must accept until the Second Coming of Jesus. Therefore, one must think about what to leave while accepting the reality of being nothing more than a creature created by God. Following his ancestor Jacob, Joseph, David summoned his son and left behind wise advice. There is a figure of him just trying to be a father, overcoming his mistakes against Amnon and Absalom. He says, “Be strong, show yourself a man” (ver. 2). The only other Bible that says “Be men” is 1 Samuel 4:9. There, the Philistine army says “Be men” to the Israeli uprising, which means it is willing to move forward in a crisis situation. Indeed, Books of Samuel always depicts David moving forward. No matter what happens, keep calm, forget that it’s over, inspire in the Lord, and move forward.

In the end, David left his way of life and faith at his death, not money or home. It can be said that he was not blunt, but just relied on the God of Creation for every moment and handed over the steps of being deeply connected and living as a baton.

2．Practical advice

In addition, David left behind practical advice. To deal with the people who have threatened the throne, Adonijah, Joab, and Simei, with wisdom. However, this does not mean that you should eliminate the opponents and make them better for your allies. It is an attitude that is completely inconsistent with the way of life of Christians who live in love with the cross. It is dangerous to be unaware of the unconscious bias that is perceived as such. Rather, it teaches us to value the benefits our families have received and to stand on our own judgment, not on others, when it comes to things to watch out for. Thus David was added to his ancestors. Up to verse 11 is the record of David’s reign.

3．Adonijah’s wish

From verse 12, it will be a record of Solomon’s reign. The Kings reporter transcribes from the practical problems that Solomon took over to David. But it shouldn’t be read as a personal revenge for David or Solomon. For he just did what made sense. Adonijah was punished for seeking Abishag, the wife of former King David, as his wife. It was the same as expressing his willingness to rebel. Therefore, the dismissal of the priest Abiathar was a natural reward for his support for Adonijah. General Joab was also guilty of joining Adonijah, and as a result, he was judged for shedding the blood of an innocent person. Solomon seems to have strategically used his wisdom to punish Shimei, who has a difference between superficial obedience and honest loyalty. However, it was Shimei who actually dug the grave. The narrowness of Shimei strangled himself (Matthew 18: 21-35). Thus Solomon’s kingdom became stable, but not due to the revenge drama or purge that is commonly believed.

4. Governance by the blessing of God

What is important is that Solomon’s wisdom bears fruit and his kingdom is established by the blessing of his Lord. (Ver. 45). In fact, as the Bible writes, the throne was made Solomon’s by the Lord, even though Adonijah did his best. Our human efforts and tactics do not just bear fruit. There is a God who can do things right, and he does not specially favor and bless a person. All wisdom and financial power come from the Lord, and the success of us using it is because the Lord is blessed in that way. Be God-fearing and humbly hoping for God’s grace. I pray that today will be a good day.
