1列王記8章 神殿奉献
1．神殿の完成
ソロモンの神殿建設事業が終了し、神殿の奉献式が行われました。時はエタニムの月、古いカナン暦の呼び名です。「水のあふれる月」という意味で、太陽暦では9～10月に当りますが、イスラエルの宗教暦では第7の月、政治暦では第1月、つまり正月にあたります。ですからこの月には、新年祭、贖罪の日、仮庵の祭などが行われました。
また、北東の風が吹き、先の雨が降り堅い地が軟らかくなる、つまり、11月に始まる大麦や小麦の種蒔きのための準備の季節となります。ちょうど、日本の季節感覚からすれば、3月か4月、田植えが始まり、これから新米の収穫を目指して動き出し、雨乞いの祭りもされる、そんな時期です。
2．神殿に臨在される神
10節、主の栄光が主の宮に満ちたとされます。神殿は、ソロモンが言うように、まさに、神の御住まいであり、神がおられる場所です（13節）。後のイエスも、それは、「父の家」（ヨハネ2:16）であり、祈りの家であると言われました。もちろん、「神は、はたして地の上に住まわれるでしょうか。実に、天も、天の天も、あなたをお入れすることはできません。まして、私が建てたこの宮など、なおさらのことです。」（27節）とソロモンが語るように、神は地上の建物に鎮座しておられるような方ではありません。もし、天地万物をお造りになった神が実在するならば、その神を、木や石の像に仕立てることはもちろんのこと、その神を住まわせる宮を造ることも馬鹿げています。ですから、ソロモンも、イエスも、それは神がおられる場所の象徴という意味で、「父の家」「祈りの家」と言ったに過ぎません。神は人間とは違う存在です。ソロモンは、神を正しくとらえており、その神は、霊的で目に見えない、超越した存在です。永遠かつ遍在のお方です。神は、恵みをもって契約を忠実に守り、成就します。彼を信頼すべきでしょう（23、24節）。
2．ソロモンの祈り
そこでソロモンはその神に向かって祈っています。「あなたのしもべの祈りと願いに御顔を向けてください。私の神、主よ。あなたのしもべが、今日、御前にささげる叫びと祈りを聞いてください。そして、この宮、すなわち、あなたが「わたしの名をそこに置く」とあなたが言われたこの場所に、夜も昼も御目を開き、あなたのしもべがこの場所に向かってささげる祈りを聞いてください」（29節）と。
神の宮は、神の存在を示すしるしとなるものですが、神が御目を開き、私たちの祈りに耳を傾け、私たちと向かい会ってくださる場所でもあるのです。ですから神はそこで「聞いて赦し」（30節）、「悪を下し、義を報い」（32節）、「帰らせ」（34節）、「雨を降らせ」（36節）、「かなえ」（39、42節）、「言い分を聞き入れ」（45節）、「願いを聞き入れ」（52節）てくださいます。神の宮は、神が私たちの祈りに応じられる場なのです。
今の教会は、神殿に代わるものと言えます。教会では、神が私たちに罪の赦しを宣言し、私たちの魂に安らぎを与え、願いをかなえ、言い分を聞き入れてくださいます。もちろん、私たちはいつでもどこでも祈ることができます。神は遍在のお方なのですから自分の部屋でも、台所でも、祈られる祈りにはすべて耳を傾けてくださるでしょう。しかし、教会は霊的な用のために特別に聖別された恵みの場、信仰を持って神と向かい合う場だと言えます。教会は、神の祝福について、期待を持って集える場なのです。神殿に集まった民は、「すべての恵みを喜び、心満たされて、彼らの天幕へ帰って行った」（66節）と言います。教会から家に帰る時には、心満たされることなく、弾むものもないならば何かが違うのでしょう。大切なのは、教会で神としっかり向かい合って、時を過ごしているかどうかです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

- Completion of the temple
Solomon’s temple construction project was completed and the temple dedication ceremony was held. Time is the month of Ethanim, the name of the old Canaanian calendar. In the sense of “a month full of water,” it is September to October in the solar calendar, but it is the seventh month in the Israeli religious calendar and the first month in the political calendar, that is, the New Year. Therefore, this month, New Year’s festival, Atonement Day, Sukkot, etc. were held.
In addition, the northeastern wind blows, the rain falls and the hard land softens, which means that it is the season of preparation for sowing barley and wheat starting in November. From the perspective of the seasons in Japan, rice planting began in March or April, and now we are moving toward harvesting new rice, and there is also a rain-making festival.
- God present in the temple
In verse ten, the glory of the Lord is said to have filled the temple of the Lord. The temple, as Solomon says, is exactly the home of God and the place where God is (ver. 13). Later Jesus also said that it was the “house of the Father” (John 2:16) and the house of prayer. Of course, “Will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!” Solomon says, God is not the one sitting in a building on earth. If the God who made all things heaven and earth actually exists, it is ridiculous not only to make that God into a statue of wood or stone, but also to build a palace where the God lives. Therefore, Solomon and Jesus merely said “the house of the father” and “the house of prayer” in the sense that it is a symbol of the place where God is. God is different from human beings. Solomon has a correct view of God, who is a spiritual, invisible, transcendental being. He is eternal and ubiquitous. God faithfully keeps and fulfills the covenant with grace. You should trust him (ver. 23, 24).
- Solomon’s prayer
Solomon is praying to that God. “May your eyes be open towards this temple night and day, this place of which you said, ‘My Name shall be there,’ so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays towards this place. ” (Ver. 29).
The temple of God is a sign of God’s existence, but it is also the place where God opens his eyes, listens to our prayers, and faces us. So God then “hear, forgive” (ver. 30), “condemning the guilty, declare the innocent” (ver. 32), “bring them back” (ver. 34), “send rain” (ver. 36), “deal with”. (Ver. 39 and 42), “hear and uphold” (ver. 45), and “May your eyes be open” (ver. 52). The temple of God is the place where God can answer our prayers.
Today’s church can be said to be an alternative to the temple. In the church, God declares us forgiveness of sins, gives us peace in our souls, grants our wishes, and listens to what we say. Of course, we can pray anytime, anywhere. Since God is omnipresent, he will listen to all the prayers he prays in, whether in his room or in the kitchen. However, the church can be said to be a place of grace specially consecrated for spiritual use. The church is a place where you can meet with hope for the blessings of God. The people who gathered in the temple “went home, joyful and glad in heart for his servant David and his people Israel. ” (ver. 66). When you get home from church, something is different if you are not satisfied and have nothing to bounce. The important thing is whether you are spending time in the church facing God. I pray that today will be a good day.
