11章 ソロモンの堕落と王国の解体
1．ソロモンの過ち
ソロモンには、700人の王妃と300人のそばめがいた、と言います。それは、同時代の王に比べれば、まだ少ない方であったとも言われます。しかし、聖書の神は、そのような結婚を認めていたわけではありません。むしろ、外国人との雑婚は戒められていました（2節）。そこには異教の神々へ心を転じさせる罠があるからだ、と。ソロモンは、まさにその罠に陥っていくのです。
人は、神に知恵を与えられて、物事がうまくいってしまうと、神への恩義を忘れやすいものです。そして人は、いつの間にか、物事がうまくいったのは、自分の能力のせいであると高慢な考えに陥ってしまうものでしょう。ソロモンも、そうでした。彼もただの普通の罪人だったのです。神から与えられたものは、絶えず求めていかなければ、与えられ続けることはなく、神の戒めをないがしろにすれば、その裁きを受けることになるのです。
2．国王への戒め
神は、すでに国王となる者に、このような戒めを与えておられます。「その王国の王座に就いたら、レビ人の祭司たちの前にある書から自分のために、このみおしえを巻物に書き写し、自分の手もとに置き、一生の間これを読まなければならない。それは、王が自分の神、【主】を恐れ、このみおしえのすべてのことばと、これらの掟を守り行うことを学ぶためである。」（申命17:18,19）朝毎に聖書を読み続ける、それは一つのことであって、もう一つ大切にされるべきことは、「そこに記されたすべてのことばと、これらの掟を守り行う」ことでした。
王朝の存続は、上からよきものを与えてくださる神との関係にかかっていました。彼は神より知恵を与えられ、確かに巨額な富を得、豊かな建築、軍備、行政を実現することができました。それは全て神から与えられたもので、神の御教えに従った結果でした。
しかし、列王記の著者は、申命記の原則から離れてしまったソロモンと彼の王国が、その後どのようになっていったかを示しているのです。
実際、ソロモンの結婚は、本来近隣諸国との関係構築と平和のための秩序維持を目的としたものでした。しかしそのような政略結婚が、逆に国内の統一を弱体化させていくとは、不思議なものです。エドム（15-22節）やアラム（23-25節）は、外部の恨を持った敵対者でしたが、ヤロブアムは、まさに神によって立てられた内部の敵対者でした。どんなに知恵を働かせて、防御を固めようと、神の守りを得ずして私たちに守りはありません。「【主】が家を建てるのでなければ建てる者の働きはむなしい。【主】が町を守るのでなければ守る者の見張りはむなしい」（詩編127:1）とあるとおりなのです。
3．ダビデの約束の故に、キリストの型
神はソロモンに怒りを燃やされ、王国の分裂を警告しています（9-13節）。しかしソロモンが、神を恐れて悔い改めた記録はありません。神殿奉献の際に、あれほど主を恐れる祈りをしながら、なぜ、彼は、二度も現れた神の前に、ひれ伏し、恐れ、悔い改めることをしなかったのか、不思議です。ともあれそのようなソロモンが守られたのは、ただ、「父ダビデに免じて」（12節）、つまりダビデと神の契約の故です。人は不誠実であっても、神は誠実です。神はダビデに約束されたことを不敬虔なソロモンに対しても守り続けられました。今日でいえば、キリストのおかげで、私たちが日々守られているのと同じです。神とキリストとの契約の故に、私たちの祝福は取り去られることがありません。そうであればこそ、キリストの十字架の苦しみを無にしない歩みが求められるところです。

Chapter 11: The Fall of Solomon and the Dismantling of the Kingdom
1．Solomon’s mistake
It is said that Solomon had 700 queens and 300 concubinages. It is said that it was still less than the kings of his time. However, the Bible God did not allow such a marriage. Rather, he was warned of marrying with foreigners (verse 2). Because there is a trap that turns the mind to the pagan gods. Solomon falls into that very trap.
It is easy for a person to forget his grace to God when things go well with God’s wisdom. And before you know it, people will fall into the pride that things went well because of their abilities. So did Solomon. He was just an ordinary sinner. What God has given will not continue to be given unless he is constantly asking for it, and if he neglects God’s commandments, he will be judged.
2．Commandments to the King
God has already given such a commandment to those who will become kings. ” When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the priests, who are Levites. It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees.” (Deu.17:18-19) Continue reading the Bible every morning. It was one thing, and another important thing was to ” follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees.”
The survival of the dynasty depended on the relationship with God, who gave us good things from above. He was wisdomed by God and certainly gained enormous wealth and was able to realize rich architecture, armaments and administration. It was all given by God and was the result of following God’s teachings.
However, the authors of Kings show what happened to Solomon and his kingdom, which had departed from the principles of Deuteronomy.
In fact, Solomon’s marriage was originally aimed at building relations with neighboring countries and maintaining order for peace. However, it is strange that such a political marriage, on the contrary, undermines domestic unity. Edom (ver. 15-22) and Aram (ver. 23-25) were adversaries with external grudges, while Jeroboam was just an internal adversary set up by God. No matter how wisdom he uses and his defenses, he has no protection for us without the protection of God. “Unless the LORD builds the house, / its builders labor in vain. / Unless the LORD watches over the city, / the watchmen stand guard in vain. ” (Psalm 127:1).
3．Because of David’s promise, the pattern of Christ
God is angry with Solomon and warns of the division of the kingdom (ver.9-13). However, there is no record of Solomon’s fear of God and repentance. I wonder why he did not bow down, fear, or repent before God, who appeared twice, while praying so much fear of the Lord during the consecration of the temple. In any case, such Solomon was protected only because of “forgiveness to his father David” (ver.12), that is, the covenant between David and God. God is sincere, even though one is dishonest. God continued to keep what was promised to David against the ungodly Solomon. Today, thanks to Christ, we are protected every day. Because of the covenant between God and Christ, our blessings cannot be taken away. If so, it is necessary to take a step that does not eliminate the suffering of the cross of Christ.
