15章　アビヤムとアサ、ナダブ

1．悪王アビヤムのダビデによる守り

ヤロブアムの後を継いだアビヤムは、神のみこころに従わない王でした。しかし聖書は、「ダビデに免じて、彼の神、主は、彼のためにエルサレムに一つのともしびを与えて、彼の跡を継ぐ子を起こし、エルサレムを堅く立てられた。」（4節）と言います。

ここが、旧約聖書の歴史書が読者に伝える重要なポイントです。つまり、神の祝福は、本人の不誠実さとは関係がなく、神がダビデと交わした契約の故に、定められている原則があります。これは今日の私たちにも同じことが言えるので、重要なのです。というのは、私たちの人生もまた、アビヤムと同様、神の目に悪いもの、不誠実なものと烙印を押されるようなものかもしれません。しかし、イエスに免じて、私たちの神、主は、私たちを守り祝されるのです（エペソ1:3）。イエスは、主の目にかなった歩みをし、十字架にご自身を献げ、全人類の罪の赦しを成し遂げられました。そのイエスの業に免じて、神は私たちを受け入れてくださいます。神に祈ることができるのも、礼拝を献げ、奉仕し、日々の証しができるのも、皆イエスのおかげです。イエスの故に、今の私たちは神ののろいではなく祝福を期待することができるのです。しかも、実際にはダビデは私たち同様の罪人です。神がそのダビデに免じてダビデの子孫を祝されたというのであれば、全く聖い神の子であるイエスによる神の約束は、決して反故にすることはできないものでしょう。

2．善王アサ

さてアビヤムの後継者であるアサは、神のみこころに従う善い王でした。彼は41年間王で、神殿男娼を国から追放、偶像を取り除き、母を偶像崇拝の罪で皇太后の位から退けるなど、宗教改革を実施していきます。「アサの心は生涯、主とともにあり、全きものであった」と著者はアサに良い評価を与えています。興味深いことは、聖書の別の歴史書、歴代誌は、アサに異なった認識を示していることです。

つまり、歴代誌の著者は、アサがアラムの王ベン・ハダドと盟約を結んだのは、国の安全のために神よりも人間的な手段に寄り頼んだためであるとしています。そして、歴代誌の著者は、列王記の著者が割愛したことを書き加えています。つまり、アサが彼の政策に反対する者を弾圧したこと、神の守りよりも人間的な同盟に関心を向け、安心を得ようとしたこと、そして彼がその晩年両足が病になった時に、彼が主を求めなかったと等です（2歴代16:7-12）。歴代誌の著者は、明らかにアサを悪く書いているのです。

どちらが本当なのか、とも思いますが、これは、著者がアサの生涯のどの時点、つまり前半か、後半かなどに注目したの違いなのかもしれません。いずれにしても、列王記の著者は、そのように本当は悪い王様だったけれども、アサの生涯も「ダビデに免じて」守られた、と語っているのでしょう。

3．ヨシャファテ、ナダブ、バアシャ

神はかつてヤロブアムの罪を裁かれることを宣告されました（14:10-16）。ヤロブアムは、まことの神を捨て去ったために、その家は絶ち滅ぼされ、墓に葬られる者はないとされました。実に、ヤロブアムの子ナダブの時代に謀反が起こり、ヤロブアムの全家は一人残らず根絶やしにされました。神のことばのとおりになったのです。その警告を見聞きしながら、次の王バアシャはヤロブアムと同じ罪と愚かさを繰り返しています。神の裁きは遅々として進まないように見えることがあります。しかし、それは、臼がゆっくり動いても確実に穀粒を砕くようなもので、やがてその結果は明らかになるものです。私たちは、まことに神を恐れる心を持って歩みたいものです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

答えはラマです。イスラエルの王バアシャが、ユダとの戦争のために建て、放棄した町ラマから運ばれたものでした。

 

Chapter 15 Abijah and Asa, Nadab

1．Defending by David of the evil king Abijah

Abijah, who succeeded Jeroboam, was a king who did not obey the will of God. But the Bible says, “For David’sake, the Lord his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem by raising up a son to succeed him and by making Jerusalem strong. “(Verse 4).

This is an important point that the history books of the Old Testament convey to readers. In other words, God’s blessing has nothing to do with his dishonesty, and there are principles set out because of God’s covenant with David. This is important because the same is true for us today. For, like Abijah, our lives may be branded as bad or dishonest in God’s eyes. But for Jesus’s sake, the Lord our God protects and celebrates us (Ephesians 1: 3). Jesus walked in the sight of the Lord, dedicated himself to his cross, and accomplished the forgiveness of the sins of all mankind. God accepts us in spite of the work of Jesus. It is all thanks to Jesus that we can pray to God, worship, serve, and witness daily. Because of Jesus, we can now expect blessings rather than curses of God. Moreover, in reality, David is a sinner like us. If God had forgiven David and celebrated his descendants, then God’s promise by Jesus, the Son of the Holy God, could never be rebelled.

2．Good King Asa

By the way, Asa, the successor to Abijah, was a good king who obeyed the will of God. He has been a king for 41 years and will carry out religious reforms, such as expelling temple prostitutes from the country, removing idols, and dismissing his mother from the throne of the Empress dowager for idol worship. “Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life.” the author gives Asa a good reputation. Interestingly, another  Bible history book, Chronicles, shows Asa a different perception.

In other words, the authors of Chronicles say that Asa signed a pact with King Ben Hadad of Aram because he relied on human means rather than God for the security of the country. And the authors of Chronicles add that the authors of Kings omitted. That is, Asa cracked down on those who opposed his policy, turned his attention to the human alliance rather than the protection of God, and tried to reassure him, and when he became ill in his later years. , He did not seek the Lord, etc. (2 Chronicles 16: 7-12). The authors of Chronicles clearly write badly about Asa.

I wonder which is true, but this may be the difference between the author’s attention to what point in Asa’s life, the first half or the second half. In any case, the authors of Kings may say that although he was such a bad king, Asa’s life was “For David’s sake” protected.

3．Joshafate, Nadab, Baasha

God was once sentenced to be judged for Jeroboam’s sin (14: 10-16). Jeroboam had abandoned the true god, and his house was destroyed and no one was buried in the tomb. Indeed, a rebellion broke out in the days of Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, and all of Jeroboam’s homes were eradicated. It became according to the word of God. While listening to the warning, the next king, Baasha, repeats the same sins and stupidity as Jeroboam. God’s judgment may seem slow and slow. However, it is like crushing the grain surely even if the mortar moves slowly, and the result will become clear in due course. We really want to walk with a fear of God.
