士師記10章を読むと、「何度も失敗する人間」と「それでも見捨てない神」の姿が浮かび上がります。一見すると短く静かな章ですが、信仰を持って生きる私たちにとって、大切な問いを投げかけてくれる内容です。
2．静かな指導者たちの働き
前半では、士師トラとヤイルが登場します。どちらも名前と活動の記録は短く、物語のようなエピソードはありません。しかし、彼らはアビメレクの混乱の後、45年もの間イスラエルを守り、平和を保ちました。彼らは戦いの英雄ではなく、日々の誠実な働きによって人々を支えた指導者です。このような静かなリーダーの働きを、聖書はしっかりと記録しています。
3．繰り返される信仰のサイクル
後半になると、イスラエルの民は再び神から離れ、敵に苦しめられます。これは士師記によく見られる流れです。神を忘れる→苦しむ→助けを求める→神が救う、というサイクルが何度も繰り返されます。ここで私たちが考えたいのは、「なぜ人間は同じ間違いを繰り返してしまうのか？」という問いです。
4．神の冷たい返事？そして、変わる心
苦しみの中でイスラエルの人々は神に「助けてください」と叫びます。しかし、神は「あなたたちを助けない」と答えます。なぜこのように冷たく感じる返事なのでしょうか。それは、神が何度も裏切られ、深く傷ついているからです。神の悲しみがそこに表れています。
それでも、聖書には「神は、イスラエルの苦しみを見るに忍びなくなられた」（士師記10:16）と書かれています。つまり、神は傷つきながらも、民の悔い改めと苦しみに心を動かされたのです。
5．本物の悔い改めとは？
イスラエルの人々は、異国の神々を捨てて、主なる神だけに仕えることを選びました。ただ謝るだけでなく、実際に行動を変えたのです。聖書では、このように「向きを変えること」が本当の悔い改めとされています（Ⅱコリント7:10–11）。後悔だけで終わるのではなく、進む方向を変え、行動も変わる。それが、神が「本気だな」と受け止めてくださる悔い改めです。
6．繰り返す私たちと、変わらない神の憐れみ
イスラエルは何度も間違いを犯しましたが、そのたびに神は悔い改めを受け入れ、憐れみを示されました。人は何度もつまずきますが、神は何度でも受け止めてくださる方です。ここで大切なのは、「神は私たちの感情に流されるのではない」ということです。
神は自由な意志と愛によって、憐れみを示されます。私たちの叫びにも、しっかりと耳を傾けてくださるのです。
7．今日への問いかけ：どこへ向き直るのか
この章の最後に心に残るのは、「神は、苦しみを見るに忍びなくなられるお方である」ということです。もし今、あなたが苦しい状況にあるなら、その苦しみを神に正直に差し出してみてください。神は怒る方ではなく、憐れみ深く、何度でも受け止めてくださる方です。神はあなたを決して見捨てません。だからこそ、悔い改めて、もう一度神に向き直る勇気を持ちましょう。今日も、その憐れみの中で生きる一日となりますように。それでは、また。

Judges chapter 10 may seem short and quiet, but it shows us two powerful truths:
People often fail again and again—and yet, God never gives up on them.
This chapter asks us an important question: What kind of faith do we live with? - Quiet Leaders Who Brought Peace
In the first half of the chapter, two judges appear: Tola and Jair.
Their stories are brief, and there are no dramatic battles or miracles.
But after the chaos of Abimelek, these leaders gave Israel 45 years of peace.
They were not warriors but faithful servants, helping the people through wise leadership.
Even quiet faithfulness matters to God—and is remembered. - The Repeated Pattern of Faith and Failure
Later in the chapter, the people of Israel turn away from God again.
Enemies come and defeat them, and they cry out for help.
This pattern appears many times in Judges:
Forget God → Suffer → Cry for help → God saves them.
It makes us wonder: Why do we repeat the same mistakes? - God’s Harsh Answer…and His Changing Heart
When Israel asks God for help, His response is: “I will not save you.”
This sounds cold, doesn’t it? But it comes from God’s sorrow.
He has been rejected many times and deeply hurt.
Still, the Bible says:
“God could no longer bear to see Israel suffer” (Judges 10:16).
Even when His heart is wounded, He responds with mercy.
God’s love goes beyond disappointment. - What Real Repentance Looks Like
The people didn’t just say “Sorry.” They changed their actions.
They removed the foreign gods and chose to worship the Lord only.
This is true repentance—not just feelings, but real change.
The Bible teaches that repentance means turning around—not just regret.
As written in 2 Corinthians 7:10–11:
Godly sorrow leads to life. Worldly sorrow only leads to sadness.
When we change direction, God knows we are serious. - We Fail, But God’s Mercy Stays
Israel failed many times, and God showed mercy every time.
We all fall down sometimes. But God never stops listening.
God’s mercy is not controlled by emotion—it is guided by love and wisdom.
He hears us clearly—and responds freely. - A Question for Us Today
The heart of this chapter is this:
God is moved by our suffering.
So if you feel pain or are in a hard season now—don’t hide it.
Speak honestly to God. He will not turn away.
He is kind. He is merciful. He will receive you again and again.
God will never say, “That’s the end.”
He will always say, “Come back to Me.”
So today, may you walk in that mercy.
