この物語を読むことで、私たちは「神との関係」や「本当の信仰」について考えるきっかけを得ることができます。
2．サムソンの怪力とその本質
1）ガザでの出来事
サムソンはペリシテ人の町ガザを訪れます。彼の名声はすでに広まっており、ペリシテ人たちは彼を捕らえようと待ち構えていました。しかし、サムソンは町の門の扉と2本の門柱をまるごと引き抜き、60キロも離れた山の頂まで運び去ります。しかも古代の町の門は金属で補強されていたので、普通の人間には到底できないことでした。
2）怪力の源と神との関係
この出来事は、神の霊がサムソンに働いていた証拠です（士師記16:3）。サムソンの力は彼自身のものではなく、神の霊によるものでした。彼が、民数記6章にあるナジル人の誓いを守っている限り、神の力は保たれていました。しかし、神に背くと神の霊は離れ、力も失われます。これは、神の霊が共にいることが、私たちの力の源であることを教えてくれています。
3．サムソンとデリラの関係
1）デリラとの出会いと愛
サムソンはペリシテ人の女性デリラと出会い、彼女を愛するようになります。しかし、異なる信仰を持つ人との関係は、彼にとって大きな試練となりました。これは、ソロモン王が多くの外国の女性を愛し、信仰から離れてしまったこととも重なります（1列王11:1-13）。
2）デリラの策略とサムソンの弱さ
デリラはサムソンの力の秘密を知ろうと、何度も問い続けます。彼女の目的は、ペリシテの五人の領主からもらえる金銭的な報酬かもしれません。あるいは、「愛されていない」と感じた心の痛みかもしれません。しかしサムソンは彼女を深く愛していたため、警戒心を失い、彼女の裏切りに気づかず、ついに自分の力の秘密を明かしてしまいます。
3）ナジル人の誓いと信仰の形骸化
サムソンの力の秘密は「ナジル人の誓い」にありました。ナジル人とは、神に特別にささげられた人で、髪を剃らない、死体に触れない、強い酒を飲まないなどの誓いを立てます。しかし、サムソンは髪を剃らないこと以外の誓いを守っていませんでした。これは、信仰が形だけになってしまう危険性を示しています。現代の私たちにも、「信仰の本質を見失っていないか？」という問いかけになります。
4．サムソンの転落と悔い改め
1）捕らえられたサムソンと屈辱
力を失ったサムソンはペリシテ人に捕らえられ、目をえぐられ、牢に入れられます。彼の怪力が失われたことを示すために、サムソンは、当時、女性や子どもが担っていた臼を引く仕事をさせられました。かつての英雄が、完全に無力になった姿でした。これは、神の霊が離れたことの象徴です。
2）最後の祈りと神の応答
絶望の中で、サムソンは「神、主よ。どうぞ、私を御心に留めてください（28節）」と祈ります。これは、神がいてこその自分だと認める悔い改めの言葉です。ただし、その願いは復讐を求めるもので、決して高尚なものではありませんでした。それでも神は、サムソンの弱さと過ちを受け入れ、彼の願いに応えてくださいました。神のあわれみは、完全な人だけでなく、傷ついた人にも注がれるのです。
5．まとめ：サムソンの物語が示す神の愛と赦し
サムソンの物語は、「神の恵みは、受けるに値しない人にも与えられる」ことを示しています（ローマ5:8）。イエスが「正しい人ではなく、罪人を招くために来た」と語ったように、神の愛はすべての人に開かれています。私たちも、弱さや失敗の中にある時こそ、神を呼び求めたいものです。神の愛が、あなたとあなたの家族、教会、学校、職場、そして地域に豊かに満ちあふれますように。では、また明日。

1. Introduction: Why This Story Matters
Have you ever asked yourself, “What does real faith look like?”
The story of Samson and Delilah is not just about a strong hero. It shows us human weakness, the danger of empty religion, and the deep mercy and forgiveness of God.
By reading this chapter, we can reflect on our relationship with God and what true faith really means.
2. Samson’s Strength and Its True Source
1) The Event in Gaza
Samson visited the Philistine city of Gaza. The people there were waiting to catch him.
But Samson pulled out the city gate—doors, posts, and all—and carried it 60 kilometers to a mountain.
This was not something a normal person could do. It was a sign that God’s Spirit was working in him.
2) The Source of His Strength
Samson’s power did not come from himself. It came from the Spirit of God (Judges 16:3).
As long as he followed the Nazirite vow from Numbers chapter 6, God’s Spirit stayed with him.
But when he turned away from God, the Spirit left him, and so did his strength.
This teaches us that God’s presence is the true source of our strength.
3. Samson and Delilah’s Relationship
1) Love and Danger
Samson fell in love with Delilah, a Philistine woman.
But their different beliefs caused problems.
This reminds us of King Solomon, who loved many foreign women and turned away from God (1 Kings 11:1–13).
2) Delilah’s Plan and Samson’s Weakness
Delilah kept asking Samson about the secret of his strength.
She may have wanted money from the Philistine leaders. Or maybe she felt hurt and unloved.
Samson loved her deeply, so he let down his guard. He didn’t see her betrayal coming.
Finally, he told her his secret.
3) The Nazirite Vow and Empty Faith
Samson’s strength came from his Nazirite vow.
Nazirites were people specially dedicated to God. They did not cut their hair, touch dead bodies, or drink alcohol.
But Samson only kept the part about his hair.
This shows us the danger of faith that is only on the outside.
It’s a question for us today: Are we keeping the heart of our faith, or just the form?
4. Samson’s Fall and His Prayer
1) Captured and Humiliated
After losing his strength, Samson was caught.
His eyes were taken out, and he was put in prison.
He had to grind grain—a job usually done by women or children.
The strong hero became completely powerless.
This shows that God’s Spirit had left him.
2) His Final Prayer and God’s Mercy
In his pain, Samson prayed: “Lord God, please remember me” (Judges 16:28).
He realized that he needed God.
His prayer was not perfect—it was a prayer for revenge.
But God still listened.
God’s mercy is not only for perfect people. It is also for those who are broken and have failed.
5. Conclusion: God’s Love and Forgiveness
Samson’s story shows us that God’s grace is given even to those who don’t deserve it (Romans 5:8).
Jesus said, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
God’s love is open to everyone.
When we feel weak or have made mistakes, that is the time to call out to Him.
