しかし、ハンナはその悲しみを神さまに向けて祈ります。声に出さず、心の中で静かに語りかけたのです。これは、神さまとの「心の会話」とも言えるでしょう。聖書学者のウォルター・ブルッゲマンは、祈りを「神との交渉」と呼んでいます。交渉というとビジネスの話し合いのように聞こえるかもしれませんが、ここでは「神さまと本音で話すこと」という意味です。ハンナは自分の悲しみや願いを、そのまま神さまに伝えました。それが、神さまとの関係を深める祈りだったのです。
3．祈りの力 ― 状況は変わらなくても、心が変わる
ハンナの祈りの姿を見た祭司エリは、最初は「酔っているのではないか」と誤解しました。しかし、ハンナの話を聞いて、彼女が神さまと深くつながり、語り合っていることを理解します。
そして、ハンナは祈ったあと、顔つきが変わりました（1:18）。まだ子どもは与えられていませんが、彼女の心には平安が生まれていました。これは、祈りが人の心を変える力を持っていることを教えてくれます。
状況は何も変わっていないのに、ハンナの心は安らかになり、神さまがすべてを良い方向に導いてくださるという確信を持つことができたのです。信仰を持つとは、まさにこのようなことだと言えるでしょう（へブル11:1）。たとえ不幸に思える状況の中でも、静かに神さまに期待し、神さまのなさることを待ち望むことができるようになるのです。
4．祈りの応答 ― 神さまとの約束を守る
やがて、ハンナは男の子を授かります。名前は「サムエル」です。彼女は神さまに約束した通り、その子を神さまにささげました。つまり、サムエルを神殿で育ててもらうようにしたのです。
ここで大切なのは、ハンナが「願いがかなったから終わり」ではなく、「神さまに感謝し、約束を守った」ということです。神学者のカルヴァンは、このような信仰の姿勢を「神の選びに応える自由意志の表れ」と考え、神の主権と人間の責任のバランスを強調しています。信仰とは、神さまからの恵みに応えることでもあるのです。
5．私たちへのメッセージ ― 小さな祈りが歴史を動かす
ハンナは王様でも預言者でもなく、ごく普通の一人の女性でした。しかし、彼女の祈りがイスラエルの歴史を動かしました。なぜなら、その子サムエルが、後に王様を選ぶ大切な人物となるからです。
この話は、私たちにも大切なことを教えてくれます。

1. The Situation in Israel — A Prayer in the Middle of Confusion
In Hannah’s time, Israel did not have a king yet. People acted as they liked, and the country had no unity. The Bible says, “Everyone did what was right in their own eyes.”
In this confusing time, Hannah prayed to God. Her prayer was not just a personal wish. It was a deep conversation with God, showing her strong faith and trust.
