1．ユダ族が受け取った土地（15:1–16）
ヨシュア記15章には、ユダ族が神さまから与えられた土地について書かれています。南の荒野から始まり、西、東、北へと、土地の境界が詳しく説明されています。ユダ族が手に入れた町は、全部で110以上もありました。
これは、ユダ族が神さまの約束を信じて、忠実に従った結果です。また、この土地の分け方は、単なる地図の話ではありません。ずっと昔、神さまがアブラハムに「この地をあなたの子孫に与える」と約束されたこと（創世記13章、15章）が、ここで本当に実現したのです。
さらに、カレブという人と、その協力者オテニエルが信仰をもって戦いに立ち上がったことも記されています。神さまの約束は、ただ待っているだけではなく、信じて行動することで受け取るものだとわかります（ヨシュア14:6–14参照）。
2．アクサの泉：信仰の人に与えられる恵み（15:17–19）
この章には、カレブの娘アクサの話も登場します。アクサは結婚したあと、夫のオテニエルに「お父さんに畑をもらって」と頼みました。しかし、それだけでは足りないと感じ、自分でカレブに「泉もください」とお願いしました。
カレブはその願いに応えて、「上の泉と下の泉」を与えました。これは、当時のイスラエルではとても大きな恵みでした。なぜなら、ユダ族の土地は荒野が多く、水がとても貴重だったからです。
この泉は、信仰をもって生きる人に神さまが与えてくださる「霊的な恵み」のしるしでもあります。イエスさまは「わたしを信じる人の心の中から、生ける水が流れ出るようになる」（ヨハネ7:38）と言われました。
信仰をもって生きる人は、たとえまわりが荒野のようでも、心の中に神さまの愛や希望、力があふれてくるのです。
3．ユダの町のリストと神さまの約束（15:20–63）
この章の後半には、ユダ族が受け取った町の名前がたくさん記されています。全部で11の地区に分かれていて、南のベエル・シェバから山地、低地、荒野まで、細かく記録されています。
こうした地名のリストは、今の私たちには少し退屈に思えるかもしれません。しかし、これは「神さまの約束が本当に実現した」ということを記録する、大切なリストです。
また、町の数や名前に違いがあることも書かれています。これは、当時の写本の違いや、言葉の使い方の違いによるものです。けれども大切なのは、神さまのご計画は完全であり、私たちはそれを受け取る側として、感謝と謙遜の心で受け止めることです。
4．今の私たちへのメッセージ
ユダ族が土地を受け取り、それぞれの町に住むようになったように、私たちも神さまによって、それぞれの場所に置かれています。家庭、学校、職場、地域など、どこにいても私たちは「泉のような存在」として生きることができます。
また、教会が一つになって神さまの約束を信じ、地域に根ざして福音を伝えていくとき、そこに神さまの働きが現れます。牧師と信徒が心を合わせて神さまの愛を分かち合うとき、教会は「命の水があふれる泉」となるのです。
結び：あなたの場所に泉を掘りましょう
ヨシュア記15章は、神さまの約束が実現したこと、信仰によって応答すること、そして神さまが与えてくださる「霊的な泉」について教えてくれます。
あなたが今いる場所で、神さまの愛と希望を流し出す人になってください。神さまは、あなたの信仰に応えて、「上の泉と下の泉」を与えてくださいます。

Joshua Chapter 15: The Land of Judah and the Spring of Faith
1. The Land Given to the Tribe of Judah (15:1–16)
Joshua chapter 15 tells us about the land that God gave to the tribe of Judah. The land started in the south, in the desert, and went west, east, and north. The Bible gives many details about the borders. Judah received more than 110 towns.
This was not just a list of places. It was the result of God’s promise. Long ago, God promised Abraham, “I will give this land to your children” (Genesis 13 and 15). Now, that promise came true.
Also, we read about Caleb and his helper Othniel. They trusted God and fought bravely. This shows us that God’s promises are not only for waiting. We must believe and act in faith (see Joshua 14:6–14).
2. The Springs of Aksah: A Gift for People of Faith (15:17–19)
In this chapter, we also read about Caleb’s daughter, Aksah. After she married Othniel, she asked him to request land from her father. But she also asked for something more—water springs.
Caleb gave her two springs: the upper spring and the lower spring. This was a great gift. The land of Judah was dry, and water was very important.
These springs are also a picture of God’s blessing for people who live by faith. Jesus said:
“Whoever believes in me, rivers of living water will flow from within them” (John 7:38).
Even when life feels like a desert, God gives us love, hope, and strength like a spring inside our hearts.
3. The Towns of Judah and God’s Promise (15:20–63)
The second part of this chapter lists many towns that Judah received. There are 11 areas, from Beersheba in the south to the mountains, valleys, and desert.
This list may seem boring to us today. But it was very important. It showed that God really kept His promise. Every town was a sign of God’s faithfulness.
Some town names and numbers are different in old Bible copies. But the main point is this: God’s plan is perfect. We receive it with thanks and humility.
4. What This Means for Us Today
Just like the people of Judah were sent to live in different towns, God also sends us to different places—our homes, schools, jobs, and neighborhoods.
Wherever we are, we can be like a spring of water. We can share God’s love and hope with others.
When the church works together and trusts God’s promises, God’s work becomes clear. When pastors and church members share God’s love together, the church becomes a spring of living water.
Final Thought: Dig a Spring Where You Are
Joshua 15 teaches us that God keeps His promises. It also shows us that faith means action. And it reminds us that God gives spiritual springs to those who trust Him.
Wherever you are today, be someone who brings life and hope. God will give you “the upper spring and the lower spring”—more than enough for you and for others.
