2．祝福とは何か？
エフライムがもらった土地は、マナセよりも小さく見えるかもしれません。「あれ？ヤコブの祈りは聞かれなかったの？」と思う人もいるでしょう。しかし、民数記という別の聖書の本を見ると、エフライムの人口は時期によって増えたり減ったりしています。つまり、土地の広さや人数だけで「祝福の大きさ」は決められないのです。
ここで大切なのは、「祝福とは何か？」ということです。聖書が教える祝福は、「たくさん持っていること」ではありません。「神さまと一緒に生きること」こそが祝福です。
実際、エフライム族からはヨシュアやサムエルといった信仰のリーダーが生まれました。これは、祝福が「信仰を受けつぐこと」として現れている例です。エペソ人への手紙1章3節には、「キリストにあって、天にあるすべての霊的な祝福を受けている」と書かれています。つまり、神さまと共に生きることが、いちばんの祝福なのです。
3．ヤコブの人生から学べること
ヤコブは自分の人生について「苦しいことが多かった」と語っています（創世記47:9）。しかし、ヘブル人への手紙11章では、ヤコブは「信仰によって祝福した人」として紹介されています。
これは、「順調な人生＝祝福」ではないことを教えています。ヤコブはつらいことがあっても、神さまと一緒に歩み続けました。そして、信仰を子どもたちに伝えました。それこそが、本当の祝福だったのです。
4．今の私たちにとっての祝福とは？
私たちも、「あの人は持っているのに、私は持っていない」と感じることがあります。しかし、神さまの祝福は、「何を持っているか」ではなく、「誰と一緒に生きているか」にあります。
神さまと一緒に生きること。そして、神さまの愛ややさしさをまわりの人と分かち合うこと。それが、なくならない「本当の祝福」です（ヨハネ4:14）。
あなたが今いる場所―家庭、学校、職場―そこで神さまと歩み、信仰を次の世代に伝える人になりましょう。それが、ヤコブが祈り、ヨセフ族が受けついだ「本当の祝福」なのです。
結び：祝福とは、神さまと一緒に歩むこと
ヨシュア記16章は、「祝福とは何か？」を考えさせてくれる章です。土地や人数ではなく、神さまのそばにいて、神さまの働きをすること。それが、聖書が教える祝福です。

1. The Land of Joseph’s Family and Jacob’s Prayer
Joshua chapter 16 tells us about the land given to the family of Joseph. Joseph had two sons: Manasseh and Ephraim. This chapter is not just about geography. It is also connected to a special prayer from long ago.
Before Jacob died, he prayed for Joseph’s sons (Genesis 48). He said that the younger son, Ephraim, would become greater than his older brother, Manasseh. He also said that Ephraim’s family would grow and spread across the world.
In Genesis 49, Jacob also prayed for Joseph. He asked God to give him blessings from the sky, blessings from the deep water, and blessings for life.
So, when we read about the land in Joshua 16, we see that it is not just a map. It is a sign that God’s promise really came true. It is a “map of faith.”
2. What Is Blessing?
Ephraim’s land looks smaller than Manasseh’s. Some people might ask, “Did God not answer Jacob’s prayer?”
But in the book of Numbers, we see that the number of people in Ephraim’s tribe changed over time. Sometimes they were more, sometimes less. So we cannot say that blessing means having more land or more people.
The Bible teaches us that blessing is not about how much we have. Blessing means walking with God.
Ephraim’s tribe gave us leaders like Joshua and Samuel. This shows that blessing is also about passing on faith to the next generation.
In Ephesians 1:3, the Bible says that we have “every spiritual blessing in Christ.” That means the best blessing is to live with God.
3. What We Learn from Jacob’s Life
Jacob once said, “My life has been full of trouble” (Genesis 47:9). But in Hebrews 11, he is remembered as a man who blessed others by faith.
This teaches us something important: a smooth life is not the same as a blessed life.
Jacob had many hard times. But he walked with God and passed on his faith to his children. That is true blessing.
4. What Is Blessing for Us Today?
Sometimes we feel sad because we don’t have what others have. But God’s blessing is not about what we have. It is about who we walk with.
To live with God, and to share His love and kindness with others—that is the kind of blessing that never ends (John 4:14).
Wherever you are—at home, at school, or at work—you can walk with God. You can pass on your faith to others. That is the kind of blessing Jacob prayed for, and Joseph’s family received.
Final Thought: Blessing Means Walking with God
Joshua 16 helps us think about what blessing really means.
It is not about land or numbers. It is about being close to God and doing His work.
