今回読むのは、サウル王とダビデの関係が決定的に壊れていく場面です。では、なぜこんな昔の話が、今の私たちにも関係があるのでしょうか。それは、人の心の動きや、目に見えない力の働きが、時代を超えて私たちの生活にも通じているからです。権力、嫉妬、友情、そして希望――これらは今も変わらないテーマです。
2．神と人との関係について
聖書の神は、ただ遠くから見ている存在ではありません。人と心を通わせ、喜びや悲しみを分かち合う方だと語られています。大切なのは、その神と親しい信頼関係を築くことです。これは特別なことではなく、神が聖書を通して示している価値観や考え方を、自分の生活の中に取り入れていくことです。そうすることで、人の心は妬みや恐れに支配されにくくなります。神の聖さや正しさ、愛の深さを知ることで、より良い心で生きることができるのです。
3．サウルとダビデの対立の本質
しかし、サウルは神との信頼関係を築く生き方をしていませんでした。それが悲劇の原因となります。サウルの心は次第に嫉妬に支配され、ダビデの成功を見るたびに不安になり、ついにはダビデの命を狙うようになりました。
現代のクリスチャンも同じです。神の名を口にしていても、神が教える価値観や考え方を日常で大切にし、神との親しい関係を築いていかなければ、妬みや憎しみに振り回されてしまう危険があります。どんな価値観を大切にしているかによって、人間関係や心の平安は大きく変わるのです。
4．ヨナタンとミカルの勇気
サウルの息子ヨナタンは、父を説得して一時的に怒りをしずめます。また、娘のミカルは、ダビデを逃がすために知恵を働かせました。神は彼らの心にダビデへの愛や憐れみを与え、ダビデの命を守る手段とされました。
ここで興味深いのは、ミカルが家の中にあった偶像（テラフィム）を使い、人形のように見せかけたことです。神を信じる王の家にも、そのようなものがあったのです。何を大切にしているかは、家に置いてあるものにも表れます。純粋に神を信じているかどうかが問われる場面です。
ともあれ、ダビデは一度は宮廷に戻ることができましたが、それは長く続きませんでした。再び戦いが起こり、サウルの嫉妬心が再燃し、ついにダビデとの関係は完全に壊れてしまいます。
5．サムエルのもとに逃れるダビデと「主の霊」
ダビデは預言者サムエルのいるラマへ逃げます。そこには預言者たちの集まりがありました。サウルは追手を送り、最後には自分も向かいますが、不思議なことが起こります。
追手もサウルも、神の霊にとらえられて預言を語り始めたのです。サウルは王の服を脱ぎ、地に伏しました。これは「王の権威も神の前では無力である」という強いメッセージです。
この場面は、神の霊がダビデを守るために働いたことを示しています。超自然的な出来事ですが、物語が伝えたいのは「人の力を超えた正義と守りがある」ということです。
6．苦難の中のダビデと神の配慮
ダビデは王の婿でありながら、命を狙われる逃亡者となりました。誤解され、正しく評価されず、先が見えない――そんな時期を過ごします。
しかし、神はダビデを完全に見捨てたわけではありません。ヨナタンやミカルの助け、追手の混乱など、いくつもの小さな出来事を通して、神の配慮が確かにあったことがわかります。詩篇59篇は、この時のダビデの祈りと伝えられています。「助けてください」という叫びと、「あなたに信頼します」という決意がそこに記されています。
7．希望はどこにあるのか
この物語は、どんなに最悪の状況でも希望は消えないことを教えています。なぜなら、希望は「状況の明るさ」ではなく、「神の主権」に根ざしているからです。私たちも、偶然や運に見える出来事の中に、良い方向へ導く力が働いていると信じるなら、心は守られます。命がある限り、希望は失われません。

1. Introduction: Why This Story Matters
Today we read about the moment when the relationship between King Saul and David completely breaks down. Why does this old story matter to us today?
Because the feelings of the human heart and the unseen forces at work in this story are still real in our world. Power, jealousy, friendship, and hope—these are themes that never change.
2. About the Relationship Between God and People
The Bible says God is not far away, just watching. He wants a real relationship with people, sharing joy and sorrow.
What does it mean to be close to God? It is not about special rituals. It means taking the values and principles God gives in the Bible and using them in our daily life. When we do this, jealousy and fear will not control us so easily. Knowing God’s holiness, justice, and love helps us live with a better heart.
3. The Real Problem Between Saul and David
Saul did not build this kind of trust with God. That was the root of the tragedy. His heart was filled with jealousy. Every time David succeeded, Saul felt more afraid, and finally he wanted to kill David.
Even today, this can happen. We may speak about God, but if we do not live by His values and stay close to Him, jealousy and anger can take over. The values we choose shape our relationships and our peace of mind.
4. The Courage of Jonathan and Michal
Saul’s son Jonathan spoke to his father and calmed him for a time. Saul’s daughter Michal helped David escape. God used their love and care to protect David’s life.
One interesting detail: Michal used a household idol (called a teraphim) to make it look like David was in bed. Even in the king’s house, there were such things. What we keep in our homes often shows what we really trust. This story asks: what do we truly rely on?
5. David Runs to Samuel and the Work of God’s Spirit
David ran to Ramah, where the prophet Samuel lived. There was a group of prophets there. Saul sent men to catch David, and finally came himself. But something strange happened:
The Spirit of God came on them, and they began to prophesy. Saul even took off his royal clothes and lay on the ground. This shows a strong message: “Before God, human power is nothing.”
The story tells us that God’s Spirit worked to protect David. It is a supernatural event, but the main point is this: there is a justice and protection greater than human power.
6. David’s Hard Times and God’s Care
David was the king’s son-in-law, but now he was a man on the run. People misunderstood him. He was not treated fairly. He could not see any hope.
But God did not leave him. Through Jonathan, Michal, and even the confusion of Saul’s men, God gave small signs of care. These were not big solutions, but they kept hope alive.
Psalm 59 is linked to this time. It is a prayer that says, “Help me!” and also, “I trust You.”
7. Conclusion: Where Is Hope?
This story teaches us that even in the worst times, hope is not lost. Why? Because hope does not depend on how bright the situation looks. It depends on God’s power and plan.
If we believe that even in random events there is a good purpose, our hearts can stay strong. As long as we live, hope remains.
