28章　神殿の完成を目指す

1．つかさたちへの勧め

ダビデは、イスラエルのすべてのつかさを召集し、「私の兄弟たち。私の民よ」（2節）と呼びかけています。文脈的には22章の神殿建設の場面に戻って、ソロモンに語ったことを繰り返すものです。しかし注目すべきは、それがソロモンではなくイスラエルの指導者に向けたもので、神殿建設の工事がソロモンのみならず、国全体の事業として支えられるように勧めている点です。一般庶民も皆が祭司、レビ人たちのリーダーシップのもとに、一致し協力していくように語っている。23-27章の長い挿入部分は、彼らがその神殿で何をするのか、予めイメージを与えるためであったと言えるでしょう。以下ダビデの勧めを整理すると次のようになります。

①まず神殿建設は、神の「安息の家」を建てることです（2-3節）。それは荒野の放浪生活への完全な区切り、もはや、主と共にこの地で繁栄していくことを象徴するものでした。捕囚帰還の民にとっても、それは、仮住まいの奴隷の生活から、エルサレム市民となって自分の国と家を持ち、新しい生活を始めることを意味したのです。

②次にそれは、単なる新しい生活ではなく、新しい任務を与えられるため、神が特別に一人一人を選び分かたれたことを意味しました（4-8節）。捕囚から帰って来た民も、長き捕虜の時代を生き延びて、エルサレムに帰って来たのは、偶然でも、運がよかったというのでもありません。あるいは、彼らは死にぞこないだったというのでもありません。神が選んで、新しい任務に遣わすためであった、というわけです。

③ですから、彼らは「神を求め」「神を知り」「神に仕える」ことを促されるのです（9-10節）全て必要なことは、神に従順な歩みの中で明らかにされるからです。実際捕囚から帰って来た民を指導したエズラ（９:10-15、7:26）とネヘミヤ（1:7-9、9:33-37）も、それを心得たのでしょう。神への従順を強調しています。それはダビデ契約（1歴代誌17章）にも基づく促しでした。

④ともあれ神殿建設は、安息の象徴として、神のプロジェクトであることが強調されます。かつて失われた神殿の再生、それは、永遠に生きておられる主のみこころと約束が、確かであることを証しするものでした（17:15）。かつてイスラエルが栄えたのは、そのような国力を与えられた神に起因するものでした。これから新しく再建されるエルサレムも、神の力によってそうなるのであり、教会も同じなのです。

2．ソロモンの勧め

著者は、ダビデが設計図を広げ、ソロモンにビジョンを示したことを記録します。「神の家と神の庭」（6節）「聖所となる宮」（10節）、神が臨在される所、そのイメージを明確にすることが、神殿建設の出発点となりました。そしてさらにダビデは、神殿の構造やそこに備え付ける備品について説明していきます。

①           神殿の構造（11-12節）

②           神殿の働き人（13節）：これは既に23-26章において詳しく述べられた。

③           神殿の備品（14-18節）

以上、仕事の全貌を理解するために、主が教えてくださったものです（19節）。ダビデが広く見聞を積んで考え出したものではありません。繰り返しになりますが、神殿建設は神のプロジェクトです。

3．ソロモンへの激励

そこで著者は、ダビデの言葉を借りながら、読者に神殿建設への取り組みを、繰り返し促しています。「勇気を出して実行しなさい」（10節）。「強く、雄々しく、事を成し遂げなさい。恐れてはならない。おののいてはならない。神である主、私の神が、あなたとともにいてくださるのだから。」（20節）。さらに、著者は、捕囚から帰って来た民に互いの協力を呼び掛けています。ソロモンには、色々な助け手がいていいなあという読み方で終わってはなりません。あなたこそが協力者ではないか。今ここにいる皆で力を合わせて建てあげて行く、その働きにあなた自身が助け手になるのだ、というわけです。「あなたを見放さず、あなたを見捨てず、すべての仕事を完成させてくださるからだ」（20節）と語る主に信頼して、私たちも、神に依頼されている働きに勤しんでまいりましょう。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 28 Aiming to complete the temple

1. Recommendations for officers

David summons all the leaders of Israel and calls them, “My brothers, my people” (v. 2). Contextually, it goes back to the temple building scene in chapter 22 and repeats what he said to Solomon. However, it should be noted that it was directed not at Solomon, but at the Israeli leader, and recommended that the construction of the temple be supported not only by Solomon but by the entire nation. The general public is also told to unite and cooperate under the leadership of the priests and Levites. It can be said that the long inserts in chapters 23-27 were intended to give a preliminary image of what they would do in the temple. Below is a summary of David’s messages.

① First, the construction of the temple is to build God’s “house of rest” (verses 2-3). It was a perfect break from the wandering life in the wilderness, and it symbolized prosperity in this land with the Lord. For the people who returned from captivity, it meant that they would start a new life by becoming citizens of Jerusalem and having their own country and home from the life of slaves in temporary housing.

② Secondly, it meant that God had specially chosen and separated each person to give them a new mission, not just a new life (vv. 4-8). The fact that the people who came back from captivity survived the long period of captivity and returned to Jerusalem was neither a coincidence nor a stroke of good fortune. Nor is it that they did not die. It was to be chosen by God and sent to a new mission.

③Therefore, they are encouraged to “seek God,” “know God,” and “serve God” (verses 9-10). It’s from Ezra (9:10-15, 7:26) and Nehemiah (1:7-9, 9:33-37), who actually guided the people who had returned from captivity, must have understood this. It emphasizes obedience to God. It was also a prompting based on the Covenant of David (1 Chronicles 17).

④Anyway, the construction of the temple is emphasized as a project of God as a symbol of rest. The restoration of the once-lost temple was a testimony to the certainty of the will and promises of the ever-living Lord (17:15). The prosperity of Israel was attributed to God, who gave it such national power. Jerusalem, which will be newly rebuilt from now on, will also become like that by the power of God, and the church is the same.

2. Solomon’s Advice

The author records that David unfolded the plans and gave Solomon a vision. “God’s house and God’s garden” (verse 6), “the temple that will be the sanctuary” (verse 10), the place where God is present, clarifying the image was the starting point for the construction of the temple. And then David goes on to explain the structure of the temple and the furnishings to be installed there.

③ Temple furnishings (verses 14-18)

This is what the Lord taught me to understand the whole picture of the work (verse 19). It is not something that David came up with through extensive experience. Again, temple building is God’s project.

3. Encouragement to Solomon

Borrowing David’s words, the author repeatedly urges the reader to work toward the construction of the temple. “Be brave and do it” (verse 10). “Be strong, be valiant, and get things done. Do not be afraid. Do not be trembling. For the Lord God, my God, is with you.” (verse 20). Furthermore, the author calls on the people who have returned from captivity to cooperate with each other. It should not end with the reading that it would be nice to have various helpers for Solomon. Aren’t you the collaborator? Everyone here now will work together to build it up, and you yourself will be a helper in that work. Let’s put our trust in the Lord, who says, “He will not abandon you, he will not abandon you, and he will complete all the work” (verse 20), and we will also work hard at the work that God has entrusted us with. .
