22章 神の宮を建てるため

1．主の宮の性質

22章のキーワードは、「神の宮を建てる」にあり、そのことばは、全部で9回出て来ます（2、5、6、7、8、10、11、19節）。また、ダビデに加えてソロモンが登場します。神殿建設は、ダビデとソロモン、親子の共同事業として完成されていきます。既に私たちは、神殿とは何であるのかを教えられました。そこは、神の赦しと恵みが覚えられる場です（21章）。続いて、実際にその神殿を建て上げる話となります。

まず彼らは働き人を求め、資材を準備しました（2-5節）。在留異国人は、イスラエルの土地に住んでいた外国人のことです。また資材は、一部はダビデの戦利品で（18:8、11）、さらにソロモンによって特別に準備されたものもありました（4節:1列王5:6、8-10）。父ダビデがソロモンをサポートしました。彼は「まだ若く力もな」く、多くの訓練と教育を必要としたからです。神殿建設は個人的な趣味レベルで行うものではありません。それは、「壮大なもので、全地で名声と栄誉を高めるものでなければならない」事業です（イザヤ2:1-4、ミカ4:1-3）。教会というのは、そういうものでしょう。それは教会は大きく、綺麗に建て上げればよい、ということではないでしょう。それは、誰の目にも、主の赦しと恵みを証しする場として建て上げられなければならないのです。

2．主が建てあげてくださる

さて神は、ご自身の約束の成就としてダビデのために王国を確立されました（2サムエル7:1-15、1歴代誌17:1-15）。しかし神殿を建設することは、ダビデの使命ではありませんでした（8-10節）。それは、ダビデが罪を犯した、あるいは戦争により何等かの儀式的な汚れを被ったためで、神殿を建てるにはふさわしくない経歴を持つからだと考える者もいますが、そうではありません。むしろ神は、ダビデには戦乱の世を平定させ、ソロモンには、安息の世を統治させる、異なる役割を与えられたと言えるでしょう。約束の地はヨシュアによって占領され、ダビデがことごとく敵を征服し、神殿建設のための備えをしました。そして、平和と安息の時代となり、ソロモンが神殿建設に着手したというわけです（申命記12:10-11参照）。神殿が約束の地に建てられることは、約束を語られた神が生きておられることの証拠です。ですから、捕囚から帰って来たばかりの、この書の最初の読者は、神が永遠の昔から約束されたことは、決して変わることがなく、今自分たちがしようとしていることも必ず完成に至ると考えたことでしょう。そして、神がソロモンに期待されたとおり、自分たちも神の律法を守り行うことの大事さを考えたはずです。（13節）。

大切なのは、教会を建て上げることも神の約束であり、その成就であることです。であれば、どんな困難があろうとも、動揺せずに、淡々と神のみことばに従う歩みをしていくなら、建つべきものは建ちあがっていく、神が建ててくださると信じることが大切です。

そして14節、人は「困難な中で」も、神が与えて備えてくださることを体験しなくてはなりません。当時、バビロン捕囚からエルサレムに戻って来て、神殿再建のビジョンを託された人々は、それらの必要をどのように満たすべきか、大変悩むところでした。また彼らは、様々な妨害を受け、行く先々に不安を抱える状況でした。しばしば今の私たちも同様の状況に置かれることがあるものです。しかし、神を信頼することです。

3．一致協力しよう

最後に、ダビデは、ソロモンではなく、イスラエルのすべてのつかさたちに語り掛け、ソロモンを助けるように命じました（17-19節）。大切なのは、主の家のために、互いに協力しあうことです。主の事業は、一人でするようなものではありません。それは、牧師と信徒が力を合わせて行うべきこと。主の助けに支えられ、互いに協力しあって進める事業です。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

CHAPTER 22 To Build God’s Temple

1. Nature of the Temple of the Lord

The keyword for chapter 22 is “building the temple of God,” and that phrase appears nine times in all (verses 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 19). Also, Solomon appears in addition to David. The construction of the temple will be completed as a joint project between David and Solomon, parent and child. We have already been taught what the temple is. It is a place where God’s forgiveness and grace are remembered (chapter 21). Next is the story of actually building the temple.

First, they sought workers and prepared materials (verses 2-5). A resident alien is a foreigner living on the land of Israel. The materials were partly David’s booty (18:8, 11), and some were specially prepared by Solomon (v. 4:1 Kings 5:6, 8-10). In addition, Father David supported Solomon. He was “young and weak” and needed a lot of training and education. Temple construction is not something you do on a personal hobby level. It is a project that “must be great and bring fame and honor in all the earth” (Isaiah 2:1-4; Micah 4:1-3). The church is like that. That doesn’t mean that the church should be big and just be built beautifully. It must be built up as a place that testifies to everyone’s eyes of the Lord’s forgiveness and grace.

2. the Lord will build

Now God established a kingdom for David in fulfillment of his own promise (2 Samuel 7:1-15; 1 Chronicles 17:1-15). But building the temple was not David’s mission (vv. 8-10). Some believe that this is because David sinned or suffered some form of ceremonial taint from the war, making him unsuitable for building a temple, but this is not the case. Rather, it could be said that God gave David a different role in pacifying a war-torn world and Solomon in a resting world. The Promised Land was occupied by Joshua, David conquered all his enemies, and prepared for the construction of the temple. Then, in a time of peace and rest, Solomon began building the temple (see Deuteronomy 12:10-11). The building of the temple in the promised land is proof that the God who spoke the promise is alive. Therefore, the first readers of this book, who have just returned from exile, know that what God has promised from eternity will never change, and what they are about to do now will surely come to an end. That’s what I thought. And, just as God expected Solomon, they should have thought about the importance of keeping God’s law. (verse 13).

The important thing is that building up the church is also God’s promise and its fulfillment. So, no matter what difficulties you face, if you stay calm and follow God’s Word, it is important to believe that what should be built will be built, and that God will build it for you.

And verse 14, even in the midst of difficulties, we must experience what God has given us. At that time, the people who had returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian captivity and were entrusted with the vision of rebuilding the temple were at a loss as to how to meet their needs. In addition, they faced various obstacles and were in a situation where they felt uneasy wherever they went. We often find ourselves in similar situations today. But trust God.

3. let’s work together

Finally, David spoke not to Solomon, but to all the leaders of Israel, commanding them to help Solomon (vv. 17-19). The important thing is to cooperate with each other for the sake of the Lord’s house. The Lord’s business is not something to be done alone. That is what pastors and believers should do together. It is a business that is supported by the help of the Lord and cooperates with each other. I hope you have a good day today.
