2章　ソロモンの神殿建設準備

1．献げる礼拝

本章の記事は、1列王記5章にも同じものがあります。1列王記のものと比べて読んでみると、ソロモンとフラムのやりとりが随分詳しく描かれていることがわかります。そして、ソロモンがエルサレムに神殿を建てようとしていたのは、エルサレムで「いけにえをささげる」ためであったことがわかります（4節）。ソロモンは、ギブオンではなく、エルサレムで、神にいけにえを献げようとしていたのです。礼拝の本質は、献げることです。パウロは「あなたがたのからだを、神に受け入れられる、聖い、生きた供え物としてささげなさい（ローマ12:1）と語りましたが、まさに私たちの礼拝には、それが必要なのであって、礼拝は、説教を聞きに行く、讃美歌を歌いに行く、兄弟姉妹に会いに行く以上のものなのです。

しかも、ソロモンは、朝ごと夕ごとに、安息日ごと、新月の祭りごとに、そのようにしようと考えました。日本人であれば、神々に改めて参拝しにいくのは、新年となるのでしょうが、彼は、加えて朝ごと夕ごとに、自分自身を献げる時を持ったのです。この世に目に見えない神の存在を認め、信じ、従うというのはそういうことでしょう。ソロモンは言います。「その御前に香りの高い香をたき、常にパンを供え、朝ごと夕ごと、安息日と新月の祭りに、また私たちの神、主の例祭に、全焼のささげ物を献げようとしています。このことはとこしえにイスラエルに命じられているのです」今日一日のいのちをもって主に栄光を帰す思いをお献げして、一日を始めていく。それは主の命令である、と。そしてこのような人生を日々積み重ねるならば、私たちの有り様は根本的に変わらざるを得ないのです。全き神のしもべとして、神に献げきった心をもって生きるところに、礼拝の民の歩みがあります。

聖書通読を進めながら、私が大事にしたいと思っているのはこういうところです。やはり聖書を読むたびに、神に出会う、神と向かい合う。そして神に献げる心をしっかりと持つ。それがなければ、どれほど聖書を繰り返し読んでも、生活に変化は起こってこないでしょう。

２．神殿へのビジョン

さて、ソロモンは、そのような場である宮を、壮大なものにしようと考えました。というのも宮は、栄光の主が臨在される場です。事実主は、すべての神々にまさって偉大な神です（5節）。ソロモンは宮をそのような神にふさわしい場にしようと考えました。ソロモンはそれが自分の力を超える事業であることを素直に認めています。そして、ツロの王フラムに製造、彫り物、製材の技術者を送るように求めています。

私たちが教会を建て上げることも同じです。「わたしの建てる宮は壮大であり、みごとなものだからです」というビジョンがあれば、それなりの準備と人材の協力を考えるでしょう。大切なのは、ソロモンのそうしたビジョンに、神が理解を示す人材を起こしてくれたことです。フラムは、異国の王であり、異教の地の王でありながら、「天と地とをお造りになったイスラエルの神、主はほむべきかな」と、ソロモンの信仰とその必要への理解を示しています。神は、捕囚の民イスラエルが、祖国に帰還しエルサレムの神殿を再建できるように、ペルシアの王クロスを用いられました。神は、異教の王の心を開き、まことの神の働きに対する協力を惜しみなくさせることがあります。神はそのように敵と思える者すら私たちの味方につけてくださるお方です。今日も、その神を自分の味方とし、神にすべての道を開いてくださるように祈りつつ歩むことにしましょう。

Chapter 2 Preparations for Solomon’s Temple Construction

1. devotional worship

The article in this chapter is the same as in Chapter 5 of 1 Kings. If you read it in comparison with the one in 1 Kings, you can see that the interaction between Solomon and Flam is described in great detail. And we know that Solomon was going to build a temple in Jerusalem in order to “offer sacrifices” in Jerusalem (verse 4). Solomon wanted to offer a sacrifice to God in Jerusalem, not Gibeon. The essence of worship is offering. Paul said, “to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1). Worship is more than going to hear a sermon, sing a hymn, or see brothers and sisters.

Moreover, Solomon planned to do this morning and evening, every Sabbath day, and every new moon festival. For a Japanese, it would be New Year’s Day to visit the gods again, but he also had a time to offer himself every morning and evening. That’s what it means to recognize, believe in, and obey the existence of an invisible God in this world. Solomon says, “This is a lasting ordinance for Israel （verse 4）”Start each day by offering your life to give glory to the Lord. That is the command of the Lord. And if we continue to live like this day by day, our way of being will have to change fundamentally. As servants of a perfect God, the path of a worshiping people lies in living with a heart completely devoted to God.

This is what I would like to emphasize as I go through the Bible reading. Every time I read the Bible, I meet God, face God. And have a firm heart to give to God. Without it, no matter how many times you read the Bible, your life will never change.

2. vision to the temple

Now, Solomon thought of making the temple, which is such a place, magnificent. For the temple is the presence of the Lord of Glory. In fact, the Lord is greater than all gods (v. 5). Solomon intended to make the temple a suitable place for such God. Solomon frankly admits that it is a business beyond his power. And he asks Huram, king of Tyre, to send craftsmen, carvers, and sawmills.

The same is true when we build a church. If you have a vision that says, “Because the temple I am building is grand and splendid,” you will think about preparations and the cooperation of human resources. The important thing is that God raised up people who understood Solomon’s vision. Although he was a king of a foreign land and a king of a heathen land, Flam said, “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth.” showing understanding. God used Cyrus, king of Persia, to enable the captive people of Israel to return to his homeland and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. God sometimes opens the hearts of pagan kings to their full cooperation in the work of the true God. God is the one who makes even those who seem like enemies to our side. Today, too, let’s take that God as our ally and walk while praying that God will open all the ways for us.
