3章 勢いを増すダビデ
1．アブネルの裏切り
1節「サウルの家とダビデの家の間には、長く戦いが続いた。ダビデはますます強くなり、サウルの家は、ますます弱くなった」と言います。イスラエルは、神の民と呼ばれる民族です。それなのに、どうしてこんな争いごとが許されてしまったのか、と思うところではないでしょうか。なぜ、彼らは平和裏に、サウルからダビデへと権力を委譲することを考えなかったのか、と不思議です。ダビデに油注がれたことを皆が知っていながら、その神のみこころにこころを合わせて動いていくことが起こらない。しかし、これが罪人の世界の現実なのでしょう。残念なことですが、それぞれの思惑の中で、混乱が続き、時が過ぎ去っていきます。そして到底神のみこころは実現しえないと思う事態も生じる。けれども、神のみこころは紆余曲折を経ながらも必ず実現していくのであって、その永遠のご計画が妨げられることはありません。
ともあれサウルの家では、将軍アブネルがますます勢いを増し、やがて彼は、王のイシュ・ボシェテに勝る力を得ていきます。彼は王のそばめを自分のものとします。アブシャロム（2サムエル16:22）やアドニヤ（1列王2:22）の例にもあるように、先君の王妃や妾を自分のものとすることは、王位を狙う行為を意味しました。アブネルは、野心があるというイシュ・ボシェテの憶測を否定しましたが、イシュ・ボシェテのことばに気分を害しています。もはや彼は、イシュ・ボシェテを自分が従うべき王とは見ていなかったのです。そしてこれを機に彼は、ダビデに寝返っていくのです。彼はダビデと取引をし、サウルの娘ミカルをダビデに返すことを約束します。アブネルは近い将来ダビデがイスラエルを統一すると読んでいました。こうしてアブネルは、ダビデを王にしようとする神のみこころに積極的に加わっていくことになりました。しかし、神のみこころは、このような政治家、アブネルがいなくても実現したことでしょう。実際アブネルはヨアブに暗殺されてしまい、神のみこころは、アブネルの存在と無関係に進んでいくのです。
2．ダビデの対応
他方、ダビデの家も、その権力関係がいささか揺らいでいました。ダビデの意に反して、将軍ヨアブが、アブネルを殺してしまうのです。ヨアブは、王ダビデの意に全く服従する部下ではありませんでした。興味深いことは、この時ダビデが、どうしたらヨアブの上に立てるかというよりも、何が正しいかを考えたことです。ダビデはアブネルの死が自分の意志によるものではないことを、民衆に訴えています。そして組織の長として、ヨアブとヨアブの兵士に、率先して喪に服すように語っています。またアブネルのために礼儀を尽くして、哀歌を創っています。そして、ダビデは断食をしました。アブネルの死を悲しむダビデの一貫した態度は、民の心を掴んでいくのです。
ダビデは慎重だったのかもしれませんが、ダビデは自ら進んで王位を求めようとはしませんでした。むしろ、ダビデは自分が王になるには時期尚早、いや力がないとすら感じていたようです。ダビデは言います。39節「この私は油そそがれた王であるが、今日の私は無力だ。ツェルヤの子らであるこれらの者たちは、私にとっては手ごわすぎる。主が、悪を行う者には、その悪にしたがって報いてくださるように。」ダビデには将軍ヨアブは、油断のならぬ部下でした。ヨアブは、王の権威に服せず、王の意向を無視して自由に行動する人物であったのです。そのような人物が側にいては、ダビデも自分の王位の危うさを感じるところであったでしょう。ダビデが王になる道のりは、ダビデがサウルの下で王子であった時よりも、100歩も1000歩も後退していたのです。人間の欲が渦巻き、虎視眈々と頂点に立とうとする者たちの中で、ダビデは、自分は油注がれた者であるが、王にはなれないのではないかと思う気にもなっていたのではないでしょうか。しかし、たとえダビデに王位を確立する力がなかったとしても、神の計画は、語られた通りに実現するのです。「権力によらず、能力によらず、わたしの霊によって」とある通りです（ゼカリヤ4:6）。
そこで私たちに対する神のみこころ、ご計画もはっきりと意識したいところです。神のみこころは第一には私たちが自分たちの救いを完成させることにあります。そして第二に自分たちが所属する教会において、キリストの体を完成させることです。しかし、私たちが自分の救いを完成させることも、キリストの体である教会を建て上げることも、思いのほか難しい。簡単なことではありません。しかしそのような時にこそ、つまり私は無力だと思うような時にこそ、ダビデのように、ありのままの自分の思いを語り、神を信頼し祈ることが大切なのです。神は私たちをご自身のご計画に沿って助けてくださるのです。では今日もよき一日となるように祈ります。

Chapter 3 David becoming stronger
- Betrayal of Abnel
Section 1 “There was a long battle between Saul’s house and David’s house. David became stronger and Saul’s house became weaker and weaker.” Israel is a people called God’s people. And yet, you might wonder why such a dispute was allowed. I wonder why they did not consider peacefully transferring power from Saul to David. But this is the reality of the sinner’s world. Unfortunately, time goes by in this way, and eventually the will of God will come true. The will of God will surely come true through twists and turns, and its eternal plan will not be hindered.
Anyway, at Saul’s house, General Abner gains more and more momentum, and eventually he gains more power than King Ish-bosheth. He owns the king’s side. As in the examples of Abshalom (2 Samuel 16:22) and Adoniya (1 Kings 2:22), owning the queen or concubinage of the predecessor meant aiming for the throne. Abner denied Ish-bosheth’s speculation that he had ambitions, but was offended by Ish-bosheth’s words. He no longer saw Ish-bosheth as the king he should obey. And he turns over to David on this occasion. He makes a deal with David and promises to return Saul’s daughter Michal to David. Abner read that David would unify Israel in the near future. Abner was thus actively involved in the will of God, who wanted to make David king. But the will of God would have come true without such a politician, Abner. In fact, Abner was assassinated by Joab, and the will of God goes on regardless of Abner’s existence.
- David’s response
On the other hand, David’s house was also somewhat shaken by its power relations. Contrary to David’s will, General Joab kills Abner. Joab was not a subordinate who obeyed the will of King David at all. Interestingly, at this time David was thinking about what was right, rather than how to stand on Joab. David is appealing to the public that Abner’s death was not due to his own will. And as the head of the organization, he tells Joab and his soldiers to take the lead in mourning. He also politely creates lamentations for Abner. And David fasted. David’s consistent attitude of mourning Abner’s death captures the hearts of the people.
David may have been cautious, but David was not willing to seek the throne. Rather, David felt that it was too early for him to become king, and that he was even weak. David says. Verse 39 “I am an anointed king, but I am powerless today. These men, the sons of Zerya, are too formidable to me. The Lord to those who do evil May be rewarded according to his evil. “To David, General Joab was a vigilant subordinate. Joab was a person who did not submit to the authority of the king and acted freely, ignoring the intentions of the king. With such a person on his side, David would have felt the danger of his throne. The path for David to become king was 100 or 1000 steps back from when David was a prince under Saul. Among those who were swirling with human greed and trying to reach the top, David might have thought that he would be buried. But even if David did not have the power to establish the throne, God’s promise would come true as he was told. “By my spirit, not by power, not by ability” (Zekaria 4: 6).
In that sense, there is God’s will and plan for us. God’s will is individual, and the first is that we complete our salvation. It is also to complete the body of Christ, the church to which we belong. If you feel that such work is not enough, it is important to trust and pray to God, like David. “I am powerless today.” God helps us according to his plan. I pray that today will be a good day.
