1．福音宣教のための選び、対象と方法（5-15節）
8-9章で、マタイは、イエスの様々な権威ある御業を記録しました。実際、イエスは、自ら私には「天においても地においても全ての権威が与えられている」と語っています。
10章から、イエスは、その権威に基づいて、12の弟子を選び、彼らにイエスが大切のしている神の国の福音を伝えるように命じるのです。しかし、それは、当時のユダヤ教の教えを再解釈するもの、新しい教えと言うよりは、彼らの日々の信仰生活に光を投げかけ、本当はどうあるべきなのか、ということに気づかせるものでした。
ですから、福音を伝える対象は、5節、異邦人ではなく、ユダヤ人なのです。異邦人の宣教は、次の段階、まず同胞に、信仰のいのちに目覚めさせることから始めるのです。そして、伝えるべき福音の内容も、7節、「天の御国が近づいた」というものです。ユダヤ人が待ち望んでいた天の御国は、あると思えばあるし、ないと思えばないというようなものではないのです。それは、確かにあるし、それは、始まろうとしているのです。つまりこの地上に、神の子であるイエスがやってこられたのは、その国を興し、建て上げ、完成させるためです。イエスが王となり、支配する新しい時代が始まろうとしていました。弟子たちは、その素晴らしいメッセージを、伝えるように遣わされていきます。この福音は、8節、あなたがたもただで聞かされたことなのだから、ただで伝えなさい。受け売りで伝えるのでよい、と命じられます。しかし必要なものがあれば、これは、神がなさろうとしている働きなのですから、9節、神が備えてくださると言います。一つ一つが今の時代にも通じる、大切な教えです。教会の働きも神のための働きなのですから、神が備えてくださいます。主を信頼して恐れずに、大胆に宣教をせよ！です。
2．福音宣教の心得（11-33節）
しかし、福音宣教の働きは良いことづくめではありません。イエスは注意事項を加えます。11節、福音を語るにふさわしい人がいるから、よく見極めるように、と言います。既に学んだ7章6節の「豚に真珠」のたとえを思い出しましょう。信仰のいのちに目覚めさせる働きは、思わぬ衝突を引き起こすことがあります。しかし拒絶する人は、時が熟していないと考えて、無駄な衝突を興さず、他の人へと向かうことです。福音を語るべき人はたくさんいるのだから、先へ進みなさい、と言うわけです。
そしてもし19節、やむなく衝突に巻き込まれたら、心配せずに、主を仰ぐことです。パウロとシラスを助けられたように、神があなた方と共にいて助けてくださいます。そもそも師が不評を買えば、その弟子も同じです（25節）。だから一々拒絶されることがあっても、驚かず、恐れないことだ、と言います。むしろそれは、本当に自分がイエスの弟子なのかどうかを知る機会でもあるのです。神は、あなたがたの思いをちゃんと知っておられます。
3．福音宣教の意義（34-42節）
32節以降は、和を重んじる日本人には、少々抵抗感のある内容かもしれません。しかし、人に理解されないことなど、信仰のことだけではありません。結婚、就職、生き方など、家族や友人に反対されても、と思うようなことはあるでしょう。ただ、気づかねばならないのは、イエスは、自らそのような衝突を引き起こせとは言ってはいないのです。衝突は避けなさい、と。知恵を使いなさい、時を心得なさい、と常識的なことを語っています。ただ、相手がそれを許さない、理不尽に対抗してくることもあると言っているのでしょう。しかし、いわゆる宗教のしきたりや、信仰の教義を守るというのではなく、神とのいのちある喜びの日々を大切にせよ、それは、手放してはならない、何にも変えられない永遠の祝福だと言うことでしょう。イエスが何を守るように教えたのかに注意したいところです。では、よき一日となるように祈ります。
Matthew 10, Chapter 2 Sermon (Go forth in mission without fear)
1. selection, object, and method for preaching the gospel (vv.5-15)
In chapters 8-9, Matthew recorded the various authoritative works of Jesus. In fact, Jesus Himself said that I have been given “all authority in heaven and on earth.”
Beginning in chapter 10, Jesus, on the basis of that authority, selects 12 disciples and commands them to preach the gospel of the Kingdom of God, which Jesus holds dear. But rather than being a reinterpretation of the Jewish teachings of the time, or a new teaching, it was to throw light on their daily lives of faith and what they should really be.
Therefore, the target audience for the gospel, verse 5, is not the Gentiles, but the Jews. Gentile preaching begins with the next step, first of all, to awaken the brethren to the life of faith. And the content of the gospel to be preached is also verse 7, “The kingdom of heaven has come near. The Kingdom of Heaven that the Jews have been waiting for is not something that they think is there or is not there. It is indeed there, and it is about to begin. That is, Jesus, the Son of God, came to this earth to raise, build, and complete that Kingdom. A new era was about to begin, in which Jesus would be king and rule. The disciples would be sent to preach that wonderful message. This gospel, verse 8, you also have been told for free, so preach it for free. We are commanded to tell it as we receive it. But if there is anything you need, verse 9 says that God will provide it, because this is the work that God is going to do. Each of these is an important teaching that is relevant to the present time. Since the work of the church is also work for God, God will provide. Trust in the Lord, fear not, and preach boldly! This is the first step in the mission of the church.
2. gospel preaching mindset (vv.11-33)
However, the work of gospel preaching is not all good things. Jesus adds a cautionary note, v. 11, telling us to be discerning, for there are those who are fit to preach the gospel. Let us remember the parable of the pearl to the swine in chapter 7:6, which we have already studied. The work of awakening people to the life of faith can cause unexpected conflicts. But those who reject it are to think that the time is not ripe, and not to entertain unnecessary conflicts, but to turn to others. There are many people to whom we should speak the gospel, so we say, go ahead.
And if, verse 19, you are unavoidably involved in a conflict, do not worry, but look to the Lord. God will be with you and help you, just as He helped Paul and Silas. In the first place, if a teacher is unpopular, so is his disciple (v. 25). So, I say, do not be surprised or afraid if you are rejected at every turn. Rather, it is an opportunity to know if you really are a disciple of Jesus. God knows exactly what you are thinking.
3. the significance of gospel proclamation (vv.34-42)
Verses 32 and following may be a bit uncomfortable for Japanese people who value harmony. However, it is not only faith that people do not understand. There are things such as marriage, employment, and way of life that you may feel opposed to by family and friends. However, we must realize that Jesus is not asking us to cause such conflicts ourselves. Avoid conflict. Use wisdom, know the time, and use common sense. However, he may be saying that the other party will not allow it and may oppose you unreasonably. But he would not be saying that we should observe the so-called religious conventions or doctrines of faith, but that we should cherish the days of life and joy with God, which is an eternal blessing that we must not give up and that cannot be changed by anything.
