1．契約に忠実である神
1節、「第十二の月、すなわちアダルの月の十三日、この日に、ユダヤ人の敵がユダヤ人を征服しようと望んでいたまさにその日に、逆に、ユダヤ人のほうが自分たちを憎む者たちを征服することとなった。」（1節）とあります。もし、ハマンの計画が実現していたら、それは、かのアウシュビッツと同じで、ユダヤ人は絶滅の危機にさらされていたことでしょう。しかし、そうはならなかったのです。彼らは、捕囚の地にあって、ただ生き延びるだけではなく、自分たちを滅ぼそうとする者に対抗し、これを征服する逆転勝利をつかんでいくのです。実にユダヤ人の歴史ほど不思議なものはありません。幾度も絶滅の危機にさらされながらも、守られていく。それは、彼らの神が確かに生きておられること、そして、神が彼らの祖先アブラハムと結んだ契約を、確かに覚え、それを守られていることを教えるのです。
つまり、神はアブラハムと契約を結ばれましたが（創世記17:7）、それは、実際アブラハムのみならず、アブラハムの後の子孫をも視野に入れ祝福するものでした。後にイスラエルは自らこの契約を捨て、自分たちの国を失い、奴隷とされる悲惨な運命を辿るのですが、神ご自身はこの契約を反故にせず、どこまでも忠実に守ろうとするのです。
パウロは、「キリストは、私たちのためにのろわれたものとなって、私たちを律法ののろいから贖いだしてくださいました。･･･このことは、アブラハムへの祝福が、キリスト・イエスによって異邦人に及ぶためであり、その結果、私たちが信仰によって約束の御霊を受けるためなのです」（ガラテヤ3:14）。と語っています。私たちの人生には、横暴なハマンが現れることがあります。人は、ただ自分の栄誉を追求するだけの強欲な権力者の下に放置される、希望を失う状況に置かれたりすることがあるものです。しかし、そのような時は、アブラハム契約が、キリストによって私たちのものとなったことを覚えるべきでしょう。神は言うのです。「わたしはあなたを大いなる国民とし、あなたを祝福し、あなたの名を大いなるものとしよう。あなたの名は祝福となりなさい。わたしは、あなたを祝福する者を祝福し、あなたをのろう者をのろう。地のすべての部族は、あなたによって祝福される」（創世記12:2,3）と。
2．神の働きを認める
不思議なことに、神の御手が動いたのだ、としか言いようのない驚きの時があるものです。神が御心としているのかもしれないと思わされることが、形をなしていくことがあります。ユダヤ人にとってそれは、出エジプトに次ぐ、主の解放の時でした。過ぎ越しの祭りといい、プリムの祭りといい、まさに神の業としての歴史があります。戦利品に手がかけられなかったのは、これが神の御手によるものであったことが認められたためでしょう。自分たちの力による勝利ではなかったのです。すべての戦利品は神のものでした。
そして彼らは、これを機に、くじ（プル）の名にちなんでプリムという祭りを制定します。それは神のしてくださったことを想起し、忘れないようにするための工夫であり、ユダヤ人の歴史にはそのような工夫がたくさん設けられています。そのような意味では、彼らと同様に、マイカレンダーを持ち、そこに神の御業のあった日をはっきりと記録し、繰り返し、神の御業を思いだす時を設けることが大切です。神の御手が動かされたことを、忘れてはならず、それを祝う時を設けるのです。神は生きておられます。神は私たちを助けてくださいます。今日も、生きて働かれる神を覚えて歩ませていただきましょう。

Chapter 9 God’s Work
1. god’s faithfulness to his covenant
Verse 1, “In the twelfth month, that is, the thirteenth day of the month Adar, on the very day that the enemies of the Jews desired to conquer the Jews, on the contrary, the Jews were to conquer those who hated them.” (verse 1). Had Haman’s plan come to fruition, it would have been the same as Auschwitz, where the Jews would have been threatened with extermination. But that did not happen. In captivity, they not only survived, but they won an upset victory over those who sought to destroy them and conquer them. Indeed, there is nothing stranger than the history of the Jewish people. They were repeatedly threatened with extinction, and yet they were protected. It teaches us that their God is indeed alive, and that He remembers and keeps the covenant He made with their ancestor Abraham.
That is, God made a covenant with Abraham (Gen. 17:7), but it was actually a blessing not only to Abraham, but also to his descendants after him. Although Israel would later abandon this covenant on their own and suffer the tragic fate of losing their nation and being enslaved, God Himself would not violate this covenant and would be faithful to uphold it to the end.
Paul writes, “Christ became a curse for us, redeeming us from the curse of the law, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. …This is so that the blessing on Abraham may come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that we may receive the Spirit of promise through faith” (Galatians 3:14). He said. There are times when rampant haman appears in our lives. People are sometimes left in situations where they lose hope, left under the thumb of a greedy authority figure who is merely pursuing his own glory. But in such times, we should remember that the Abrahamic Covenant is ours through Christ. God says. I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great. Let your name be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you. All the tribes of the earth shall be blessed by thee” (Genesis 12:2,3).
2. acknowledging God’s work
There are times of wonder and amazement when we can only say that God’s hand has moved. There are times when things take shape that make us think that God may be doing His will. For the Jews, it was the time of the Lord’s deliverance, second only to the Exodus. It is called Passover, it is called Purim, and it has a history as the very work of God. The fact that no hand was laid on the spoils of war was probably an acknowledgment that this was God’s handiwork. It was not a victory by our own strength. All the spoils belonged to God.
And they took this opportunity to institute the festival of Purim, after the name of the lot (Pur). It was a device to remember and not to forget what God had done, and the history of the Jewish people is full of such devices. In this sense, it is important that we, like them, have our own calendars, clearly record the days of God’s work, repeat them, and set aside time to remember God’s work. We must not forget that God’s hand has moved, and we must set aside time to celebrate it. God is alive. God helps us. Let us walk today remembering the living and working God.
