5章 納められた契約の箱
1．著者の関心
先の4章は、1列王記の6-7章に重なる内容を持っていました。そして、著者は、その約半分を省略しています。しかし省略しながらも、大事な繰り返し、バ・ヤアッシュ、つまり彼は造った、という表現でもって、神殿建設が、まるで判を押すかのように、神に指示されたとおりに忠実に作られたことを語っていました。こうして神殿は完成し、幕屋という可動式の聖所は、恒久的な建物となりました。それは、神が永久にイスラエルと共に臨在される象徴でした。
さてこの5章は、1列王記の8章に重なりますが、著者は、ここで１列王記の8章にはない、重要な付け加えをいくつか行っています。そこにまた著者の意図があると言えるでしょう。
つまり完成した神殿はがらんどうでした。そこで、著者は、神殿の内部に、聖別された用具が運び入れられ、納められていく様子を伝えています。それは1列王記8章の記事とほとんど変わりません。異なる部分は、用具が収納された後の記事です。1列王記では、主の栄光が宮に満ちて、祭司たちが立って仕えることができなかった、と続き、ソロモンの祈り、そしていけにえを献げる礼拝へと書き進められています。他方歴代誌の方では、まず歌い手たちによる礼拝の様子が描かれ、主の宮に栄光が満ちて祭司たちが立って仕えることができなかったと続き、その後にソロモンの祈りが詳しく取り上げられるのです。順番が違いますし、礼拝の形式も違います。列王記はいけにえを主とする礼拝であり、歴代誌では、歌い手たちによる礼拝が中心となっています。
2．一つとなる礼拝
著者の関心は、歌い手によってイスラエルの民の礼拝が指揮され、そこに神の栄光が満ちたところにあります。神は神殿という建物に住まわれるのではない、神はまさにイスラエルの民の中に住まわれるお方です。そして、イスラエルの民が献げた礼拝は、「まるで一人のように一致して歌声を響かせた」礼拝です。一つの礼拝のモデルがそこに示されていると考えてよいでしょう。既に述べたように、歴代誌は、礼拝の再建がテーマです。となれば、私たちの教会の礼拝もどうあるべきかを教えられるところなのです。
教会に来る者の心がばらばらであったら、それは礼拝にはなりません。形は礼拝の体をなしているようであっても、祭司たちが立って仕えることもできないほど、主の栄光が宮に満ちるようなものにはならないでしょう。まさに「主は誠にいつくしみ深い、その恵みはとこしえまで」と皆の心が真っすぐ主に向かい、一つになって注ぎだされるところに、それは起こるからです。
こうして歴代誌の読者たちは、いかにして、神を中心に据えた神への大いなる賛美に心を集中させるべきかを教えられたわけです。教会は、神の栄光が満ちる場であり、人間の栄光を輝かせる場ではありません。神の栄光をたたえる場であって、まさに「わがたましいよ、主をほめたたえよ（詩篇103:22）」と勧められる場なのです。

Chapter 5 The delivered Ark of the Covenant
- author’s interest
The previous four chapters overlapped with chapters 6-7 of 1 Kings. And the author omits about half of it. But with the abbreviated but important repetition of the expression ba yaash, that is, he built, the construction of the temple was made faithfully as God instructed, as if to seal it. I was talking about Thus the temple was completed, and the movable sanctuary of the Tabernacle became a permanent building. It was a symbol of God’s eternal presence with Israel.
Now, this chapter 5 overlaps with chapter 8 of 1 Kings, but the author makes some important additions here that are not in chapter 8 of 1 Kings. It could also be said that the author’s intention is there.
In other words, the completed temple was empty. Therefore, the author tells how the consecrated utensils are brought in and stored inside the temple. It is almost the same as the article in 1 Kings chapter 8. The different part is the article after the equipment is stowed. 1 Kings tells us that the glory of the Lord filled the temple so that the priests could not stand to serve him, and then goes on to Solomon’s prayer and sacrificial service. . The Chronicles, on the other hand, first describes the worship of the singers, then tells us that the house of the Lord was so full of glory that the priests could not stand to serve it, and then details Solomon’s prayer. . The order is different, and the form of worship is also different. The Book of Kings is a sacrificial worship service, while the Chronicles is centered on a worship service by singers.

The author’s interest lies in the singing of the people of Israel leading the worship of God and the glory of God. God does not live in a building called a temple, God lives in the very people of Israel. And the worship offered by the Israelites is a worship that “singed in unison as if they were one.” You may think that one model of worship is shown there. As already mentioned, Chronicles is devoted to the restoration of worship. That being the case, we are about to be taught how our church service should be.
If the hearts of those who come to church are divided, it will not be worship. Even though it looks like a body of worship, it will not fill the temple so full of the glory of the Lord that the priests cannot even stand to serve it. Because it happens when everyone’s hearts turn straight to the Lord and pour out together as one, saying, “The Lord is truly merciful, and His grace is forever.”
Thus the readers of Chronicles were taught how to focus their minds on the great praise of God centered on Him. The church is a place of divine glory, not of human glory. It is a place to glorify God and a place to exhort us to say, “Praise the Lord for my soul” (Psalm 103:22).
